PvP: is for Farming AP or Winning the Objective ?

What do you prefer in pvp ? Seems like it's all farming now, I really like my alliance to win but know body really cares ?

People say both but i honestly see 80% farming 20% playing the objective. I am on console and play with more kids/exminecraft players, so i guess its kinda toxic.

Thoughts ?

I just PvP for the PvP. I only hate having to walk 500 miles and walk 500 more just to get back in the fight.
I do farm AP sometimes instead of enjoying the plain fighting, but only to unlock a certain alliance skill or to get a new siege weapon.

I believe firmly that PvP should be played by the nature of the campaign. Meaning up top you should be rewarded most for taking keeps, resources or scrolls. That should be the focus.

Before the last update, there wasnt ever much incentive to do this for some players and glad to see with the new O-Ticks there is now. The main goal for people should be winning the campaign there in by gaining objectives that either reward points or lead them to a way to award points.

Id be fine with kills not rewarding a single bit of AP at all and only adding to O-ticks and D-ticks. Id love to see that actually. That being said, id also love to see a campaign with scoring based off kills. But well be getting that on a much smaller scale with the 4v4v4 coming June.

If your on Xbox One and play AD your welcome to join up. My whole guild focuses on winning the home campaign over ap or farming kills. We do run small groups in guest campaigns when things are quiet for farming though.

It's for good fights. enjoy them all for yourself, with a few group mates, or if that's your kind of thing, out them on yt.
AP will come by themselves. The more fun you have, the less it feels like a grind, and the easier it will be for you to switch main chars when balanced gets wrobel'd the next time.

Objectives are for people with neither job, nor life to easy their misery of PvDoor'ing when others sleep or work.

    Each to their own.

Some people just want the AP/Skills/Achievements, some people want the PvP and others want to say they won the campaign.

Welcome to open world unorganized gaming, it's more interesting than arenas.

I came to play the objectives. Big castle sieges with catapults and people defending. Sadly that was the beginning of PvP. Nowadays it's only people farming and running over eachother.

One major issue for castle siege objectives is stealthed large groups which can take out an entire siege group in seconds. Stealth should not work like this in PvP. How, I do not know. Perhaps just hide name and alliance indicator until up close, or depending what type of armor you are wearing (ie Heavy armor 5 pcs =no stealth, light armor 5 pcs is stealhed, all in between is half stealth like no indicator)

then we have Proc sets which ruin it
    Lag
    loading screens
    bugs

for castle siege I better wait for Bannerlord. But it could still be great in ESO if certain things could/would be addressed.

When I sort things out this week, I probably go farming as well. Since I hardly find my PvP guild PvP'ing anymore. And I cannot blame them. And it's the best guild around to be in.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I enjoy winning the campaign, taking keeps, defending keeps... But sometimes it's unrealistic...

On console the campaigns are very unbalanced. There is haderus which is Population capped at all times, but due to this unless you stay in the fields away from the keeps your frames drop immensely.

Then you have the other campaigns which usually are populated strictly by the alliance with Emperor. One alliance or both will push the middle to be absolutely annihilated in a 5:1 incoming Zerg. Easily had 100 EP come and trounce the 20 blues inside our last inner keep.

Maybe it's because I don't join large groups and prefer the small scale aspect of this game, but when *** like that happens... There is no fighting back or fighting for "the win" it's like playing a rigged poker game, not much fun.

Currently, both AP and campaign score are pretty meaningless.

Good fights are the only real goal, whatever that means to you.

Your name sounds familiar, pretty sure I have seen you before. I know exactly where you are coming from. It's basically headed all towards farming at this point.

I don't ever remember a time this was true. Sure the rewards were okay, but still an RNG pool of lame for most people.

Winning the campaign has only ever been worth it for forums smack talk bragging rights, and even then most people didn't care.

I prefer objective play when there are players defending/attacking objectives (what fun is taking an empty keep?). Cyrodiil doesn't reward playing the map very well, in fact it doesn't reward PvP in general very well. If anyone is looking for another Fury staff in Training, I can hook you up.
There's no incentive to go anywhere on the map besides where the biggest fight is, and that's usually the Emp keeps. Factions will completely ignore the fact that they don't own their home keeps in favor of piling up on an outpost that means nothing.
Now with Homestead it looks like Cyrodiil is going to be outpost flipping and AP farming.
ZOS unleashes an unblockable, high damage, large AoE ultimate that's accessible to all classes, and naturally now Cyrodiil is filled with players using it. ZOS tries to add incentive for taking objectives, and of course players exploit it.

PvP has become so completely and thoroughly screwed up that duels with strict and well thought out restrictions are the only good fights you'll find. Open world PvP is a race to see who can get the most destro ultis charged first.

As @DeadlyRecluse said. Master weapons. The sets back in the day were a lot more useful too. Getting leki restoration staffs sharpened are pointless. I'd rather the rewards would be more gold than junk that takes up my inventory/mail space.

Winning the fight is the objective. Campaign objectives, AP, rank, Emp; they just give you settings, tools, and additional motivation.

All to satisfy the desire to win the fight.

I'm just there for good fights in an open world setting I don't care about AP or Taking keeps and scrolls. I run where keeps are flag and try to start fights with players I meet in between 1v1 1v2 1vX it's what I think is fun.

I play a mdk so it's a lot of fun when you pull off a great 1vX against the meta builds. I only have 30k kills in 3 years of playing and rank 27 not much farming more horse riding and dying and running back for me XD

Ya I agree. I'm also ad on x1. I try too run in small too medium groups but like being in larger scale fights. It seems like the days when massive keep battles are fought have gone the wayside. Seems like its always ap farming at the notorious alessia bridge or ep gates etc... I rarely see big fights with real pushes for the objective anymore. Thats said I'm usually only on late at night as its when I'm off work. I'd personally like too see a better system for getting emp. Its impossible for those of us who can only play a couple hours a day at most. I work ten too twelve hours a day and there's no way I can earn the same ap as others who have alot more time. Makes it even harder when your on late as well. Frankly I think pvp needs a big overhaul and more effort from zos too make fun and competitive again. Just my opinion though.

I pvp for good group fights, preferably against good groups on open field.

If I can't find one, I typically defend my faction's homekeep area, attack some keeps to relieve the home keeps, or dissolve the other side's zerg.

AP are only a tool to keep people motivated.

There's just not any point in caring about the objectives. The rewards for winning a campaign aren't good enough for any of it to matter. Further, the top player of your alliance is just farming AP, so why push objectives for them unless you know them?

Cyrodiil has so much wrong with it right now. There have been countless posts on these forums from people with ideas to make Cyrodiil great again, but none of the ideas have been implemented correctly.

I play on Xbox and couldn't tell you the last time I looked at my home campaign's scoreboard to see who's winning the campaign.
