ZOS, are we ever going to get such a Cyro as it was in the trailer from 2014????

Dear ZOS, while I enjoy PVP now pretty much, I mostly played PVE so far, now starting to play PVP too a bit, on a non-vet character, I keep reading posts from long-time PVPers, that the lag and slide shows are many times really bad, loading screens really long, FPS low, ping high, which is really sad, as (even if many say it is unbalanced), PVP is still great fun!!!


So my serious question for the ESO devs: Will we ever get such a huge mass-scale battles in Cyro with no lag as it was shown in this trailer from 2014???
Because if not, it is really sad and kind of unfair, that you hyped people with that trailer, but more than two years from the release of that trailer and you still did not give us what you have promoted...

    The only thing I can conclude from this trailer is that bridge fights are a core mechanic of Cyrodiil and not useless at all but completely working as intended!

    If they could fix it they would have already. they took the game In a direction the original code engine wasn't designed to handle. They don't have the resources or money to rewrite the cyrodil pvp code engine. That's why they continually put in band aid fixes.

    I'll give them that the band aid fixes have helped with lag and performance to a certain degree but you will never get what they advertised. Their resources and money are going towards more important prioritized projects (e.g., housing, pve, battlegrounds, future dlcs, crown store, bug fixes, and etc.). They are a business and will make business decisions that make them the most money while providing the greatest Amount of fun to the largest playing population. Which by the way is the Pve players.

    Don't get your hopes up that a dev will respond. Anything they say will be scrutinized and critiqued by the community and they don't want to risk further alienating the player base. If they do respond it will be wheeler saying the same old same old. We are working on it and are making progress. We have found an issue blah blah blah and will be implemented in the future blah blah blah. In the meantime we are spreading people out by increasing siege damage, removing doors, deers, torch bugs, adding captureable towns, and releasing op aoe proc sets/skills.

    There's no lag because it's a staged video . No one walks in formation to battle . No large groups spamming abilities . Any of those people in the video playing like that would die in seconds .

    :) of course I know that there is not lag because it is staged, but I mean if in the game Cyro will so many people fight against each other, it would be total lag fest

I play still, but on a cheesy bomber because that's the only way left to play solo. Gotta be stealthy and able to wipe 10+ people or get run down by the zerg.

    well, you have to addapt, that is the only way to deal with current state as you describe it - run an OP build too, or get a bigger group!

    I would not measure the dying by "how many orig. players already left", screw them, there are always new players comming to ESO!
    Me too, I am not new to ESO, but I am kind of new to PVP, I just started PVPing on a more regular basis just with my second char few months ago. With my first char I played PVE 99% of the time.

    I used common sense, logical and deductive reasoning to assertain that they either don't have the resources or money to rewrite the code or they are making business decisions to focuse their efforts elsewhere, where they can gain a bigger bang for their buck.

    Either believe me or don't but the evidence is overwhelming that they can't fix the issue. They can reduce the lag with band aid fixes but can't or will not address the core of the problem.

    Maybe... But they are not focused on core foundational rewrites. They are focused on dlcs, tweaks, enhancements, crown store, and etc. they are in a maintain and sustain lifecycle at this point. They have a much smaller programming crew than they did to design the game and prelaunch. They have to prioritize, and all indications point that their priority is not foundational code rewrite. Don't get me wrong, the band aid fixes are helping but it's not the solution.

    Using a skillbar instead of a skill or weapon for each hand like Skyrim is a choice that has always irked me, battles could have been so much more involved and builds more diverse. Alas, Cyrodiil is very much like that video shows it to be really

    1. What do you mean no lag? Check out 1:21.
    2. Notice how they fight. Just to test it - gather a lot of people and make them fight like that- one on one with not much skills or especially aoes spammed. And tell us the result? Maybe it's not ZOS you should blame, but players? You won't fight so that performance is good for everyone, will you? You will find the build that works and will use it (which is obviously not what players are using in the trailer, so the trailer didn't mislead anyone).

    That's what PvP used to be like back in 2013!

    We had epic battles with hundreds of players at the same keep and no lag.
    And that was with full effects showing for everyone and Cyrodill even had deer (gasp)!

    Well I am not sure how deep foundationally it was, but One Tamriel seems a pretty much deep rewrite, what do you say? So maybe the next steps are:
    - Vvanderfel or Clockwork city
    - Housing
    - Cyro (or partly in every update)

    Who knows :)?

    While it proves itself to be very helpful and occurate to deduct from previous experiences, do not forget, that some things can even grow in jumps, so one day we see a lagless bugless cheaterless Cyrodiil, we will be sitting in some Inn in the Guildhall mansion, next to the Auction House and we will tell to our selves:
    A: Wow, This one feels funny when thinking about it, do you remember those old days, when there were many bugs and Cyro was laggy :smiley: ?
    B: By the Tusk of Lord Trinimac, damn yes, that was long ago!
    A: It was fun, thank the Moon, it got fixed, a Khajiiti skooma toast on that!!!!

    ZOS already deleted the bit on their website about "up to 200 players on screen at once" ect ect months ago. So that should tell you all you need to know about their 'plans' for fixing pvp.

    I remember when we had that cap (or was it 2500?) per campaign.
    Like i said above, we had some huge epic battles back then.

    That all went downhill after the first bot invasion ...

    they crucified their own PvP performance to address botting at launch. Its both amateur and depressing on epic scales.

    It's being ruined by the macro slicers too. They throw the kitchen sink at you, by insta-casting every ability on their bars, which allows them to kill other players with weapon attacks and 5-6 skills, all going off in 1.5 seconds, and if you are really lucky you might have time to cast one spell. And that's only if the macro slicer does not have the really good armor sets.

    The procs off of armor sets makes these macro slicers that much more of a game destroying aspect to this already buggy game. It was bad enough they can insta-cast so many spells and skills so quickly, now their armor is adding to this unworkable game mechanic.
