I use sypherpks stam nightblade build. I'm a wood elf. Ive got 335cp. I hold my own more in trueflame than I do in azuras where theres no cp. I usually get wrecked before I have time to bust out of cp its ridiculous. am I missing some fundamental part of pvp?

You can't just copy someones build and be good. You're not Sypher and you will likely never play as well as him. You need to talior the playstyle to something that is more comfortable to you. Keep practicing and getting rekt and you'll get better.

Champion Point passives are like an addictive crutch to a LOT of players. That's why the Non-CP campaign is so empty all the time, I wouldn't doubt it if a lot of "God Tier" PvPlayers in CP Campaigns went over to Azuras and suddenly started losing all the time. I've even heard people flat out admit they won't go to Azura's cause they rely on their points too much.

But a fundamental part of PvP? From what I know you need two things. Burst damage, and great Resource Sustain. Most fights end within seconds, and those that survive the initial attack/ganking, only win when they're the ones with the most resources in the end.

You'll get better in time. I remember my early pvp days.. I just sat my ass on rocks near the fighting and wondered how people are surviving and I'm here getting one shotted. I don't any more obviously, I found a great sorc teacher a year ago and after he'd shown me the ropes of sorcery I think I hold my own pretty good.

You need to know the weaknesses of your class and your strengths, as well as those of other classes in order to successfully counter your opponents. Try and only fight only 1v1s for now and once you know how to counter every type of class you can move up to 1v2, 1v3, etc.

Also make sure you wear impenetrable and gold your gear out and more cp always helps.

Well your problem is you are using a build made to be played with CP in a campaign that has no CP enabled.
And like someone already said, you can't just copy someone else's build and be as good at it as them. Sypher's builds are made to suit his playstyle, same as everyone else. You will have more success putting together your own build that suits your playstyle.

Trust me I'm no PvP expert...just ask all the players I feed AP to when I die.

That being said, I've spent the last month playing in BWB, and not only has it been a blast...I've also learned a great deal.

YES you will die a lot once you head to Cyrodiil. But If you listen to other players, and try to adapt to the ever-changing tide of battle...you just might find the answers you are looking for.

Sorry, I realize I'm not giving the best advice. But hang in there. I hated PvP when I first gave it a shot on my main. But after getting my nose bloodied for awhile...now I'm actually able to contribute to the fight.

Not because I'm an awesome player...just because I'm beginning to learn the ropes...and not taking my failures too seriously.

Just remember that there will ALWAYS be someone better than you at any given moment.

Dust yourself off, learn what you can and get back in the fight ;)

I recommend running with ~3000 Stamina Regen. Do not worry about damage too much.

Get enough sustain to comfortably cast all of your skills and dodge roll at will. This way you can get used to playing without the restriction of Stamina running out. When you get used to your most effective combos and ways to burst/cancel animations, you will play far better.

After awhile switch to a higher damage setup, giving up much of that sustain. You'll find you will burst people down far easier and then you need to only learn how to manage your resources well.

    Your gear can be impen.

    Your sustain can be legendary.

But five guys armed with cost increase poisons are still bad odds.

Don't copy a sypher build. Much better builds out there as far as stamblades go. But as far as gear, definitely get all impen and getting unchained passive will help you a tons as well.

gankers burst builds glass cannons you know, I am a noob to pvp and i also get killed in 2 seconds usually, like snare snare, hit, hit, snare, execute, done
also there are people who mostly pvp, so when I come there, who mostly pve, i got wrecked, logically  . I mean people are much harder opponents than any npcs. the one who animation cancells faster and presses skill keys faster, wins, easy as that

Its called powercreep. Its pretty much whoever gets the burst through first will win. Thats why i dont bother with vet pvp and stick with BWB, its much more balanced then the other maps.

I have always deceloped build on my own and I think you shluld do the same. Watch someones gameplay and builds but not copy/paste them. Try to understand why they use this certain set of skills, gear CPs and so on and how it would synergize with your vision of your toon. I usualy create setup, play 1 hour at this toon and then adjust. Even when you get to the point when you are quite happy with your toon you should not stop to think about what you can improve. Generaly think on your own and learn. And most important part: you need to aknowledge that you will die in Cyrodiil all the time, no one is invincible, instead of frustrate try to undersand what happened and why. In this part very useful are addons that track damage you recieve and deal, to recreate last combat and understand how did you killed someone or how you died. Adapt. For example even though there is so many complains about mag sorcs there are still ways to make them real monsters, but most of them arent introduced to anyone as many people who have spent weeks on creating their perfect setup just wont share it with others, because its their setup and they want it to stay that way ;)

Like others have said just copying a build is not going to make you any better, it might help, but unless you play like the person that you copied the build from your not going to be the same, and since the cheat engine came to light, I am cautious about any one that gives out builds, that will be a shadow over this game for a long time, trust no one. :)

I managed to hold my own in a 1v1 in PVP when collecting a skyshard from 'behind the lines' yesterday for long enough (10 mins) for the other person to give up trying to kill me. For me, this is as good as a victory :)

Go to IC and practice there if you haven't already. More opportunities for fights, you re-enter the battle more quickly (which means even more opportunities), and there is less lag. I improved tremendously there. You simply learn more quickly since you engage in more fights.

    Edit for punctuation.

I'm not sure what Sypher's stam NB build is (the guy probably switches it up all the time anyway to keep his stream fun and interesting) but if it's like the vast majority of other stam builds it's going to be pretty squishy. You might be putting yourself out there too much and need to play more elusively. You might be getting zerged down because you rush too far in trying to kill someone. It could be a lot of things.

There is so much misinformation in here.

    - Impen is the single most over rated thing in PVP. Regen is probably second.
    - Build either max resources or max damage.
    - Best defense is a good offense. If you want to survive an instant death, be the one who causes the instant death.
    - Be like Batman and prepare for every scenario. PVP is not a duel. I'm a Templar and with the press of one button I can regain resources, go invisible, go super fast, become a mist formed tank, or instant kill someone. Creative potions are your friend.

There are things that people do in 1 on 1s that are nothing like an actual keep fight. Don't be the guy who can win a duel, be the guy who can win a 50 on 50.

It's true, many do/would suffer on Azura.
Your whole fight has to change, I have less magic, less regen, higher costs and less damage. Ultimately you have to build for both because I can run heavy spell power gear on a CP map but have to run Seducer on Azura.

One thing people tend to overlook when using someone else's build, like Sypher, Fengrush, Deltia, etc. is that a lot of their builds require having endgame/best in slot gear to be effective in the way that they are meant to be used. It takes a while to get most of that gear, so, if you're attempting to use one of those builds without the specific gear set-up that they're using, you're not going to get the same results.

You can't copy pasta years of experience, situational encounters, and thought process of someone else's character/build.

The only real solution is figuring out your strength's, weaknesses and finding ways to buff your weaknesses and min/max your strengths.

There is no handi-book for this, you have to go out and fail in order to get the information you need to move forward.
