Best race for NB?

Have only ever played Sorc. Here Altmer is basically the only viable choice. Anything else is just second.

But what is considered the best NB race? Redguard, Khajit or Wood Elf?

    Top 3:
    Kahjiit
    Redguard
    Woordelf

    Other choices:
    dark elf, orc, lizard, nord.

    Magic top 3:
    Breton
    High elf
    Dark elf.

    Other.
    Eh anything really.

    Why Kahjit on first though?

    Kahjit has;

    Health Regen
    Stealth detect + Stealth Damage
    Critical

    Redguard has;

    Stam Regen
    Max Stam
    Restore Stam on Hits

With redguard i just see a good benefit on all three attributes, whereas the health regen on Kahjit seems pretty meh to me? Also the stealth bonus really pushed you towards a specific playstyle (hide and hit).

Stam regen, max stam and more stam regen (on hits) just seems so very solid?

Can anyone put actual numbers on the Critical damage % you get on the Kahjit?

    Depends on your playstyle.
Khajiit for pure burst damage, redguard for great sustain, bosmer as a balanced option.

If you want to 1v1/1vX with your NB then Woodelf is probably your best option. The 21% stam regen is amazing!

    (stamina that is)

    IMO:

    Stamina:
Imperial - overall very strong, especially at high CPs due to resource scaling. Won't win on sustain, but we have tools to help with that if needed.
Khajiit - Crit bonus is currently bugged. It shows up on your char sheet, but doesn't actually apply to attacks. Should be a solid race after, but personally I would not take a race that doesn't have 10% stam.
Bosmer - The stam regen is nice, but weak on max stats like Khajiit.
Redguard - This is your top PVE DPS option for sustain. I'd still use imperial over redguard in PVP

    Magicka:
Argonian - This can be surprisingly effective with the heal bonus and potion bonus.
Altmer - Solid DPS option, especially if you will be using a fire staff.
Breton - Decent alternative to Altmer if you will be a DW/Rstaff type of build especially.
Imperial - Yep the max stats are still nice. No 10% magicka is going to hurt your damage output a bit, though.

I have never regretted my NB being imperial, either magicka or stamina spec. Though it's more effective as stamina for sure.

Just browsed the stats again. Still feel like Redguard gives the most with 9% regen, 10% max stam, and then the regen on hits.

can anyone tell me what v16 scale of that final skill is? how much stam is gained on hits? (redguard)?

i know wood elf has 21% regen, but nothing else that really gives anything. It has that annoying useless resistance bonus instead.

    For stamina:
    1. Redguard
    2. Imperial
    3. Bosmer

    For magicka:
    1. Altmer
    2. Breton
    3. Dunmer

    In my opinion.

I just made my first Night blade and went with Dunmer. It has the fire resist if I go vampire and has both stamina and magicka passives in the event I want to swap between stamina, magicka or hybrid builds. Plus if I end up using a fire staff it has fire damage bonus if I want to work out some type of siphon weave.

It's like 700 or something iirc. Redguard is very good, but for sustain in 1vX situations I'd generally recommend bosmer for stam NB. Breton for dual wield/resto magicka nb, altmer for destro/restro magicka NB. 1v1 sustain isn't generally as big of a deal once you have plenty of cp. Imperial is also a very good choice for stamina, and with the health bonus/heals isn't bad as magicka if you want flexibility to change between stamina and magicka.

The damage bonus is great. However, the lack of extra stamina recovery makes them less sustainable than woodelf or even redguard.

Doesn't anybody use search option? This is like 100th topic of the same disgussion.

Best race depends on playstyle. For stealthy ganker, there's no better than khajiit or wood elf, since they get racial bonus to doing damage from stealth.

If you want to try and troll or 1vX, best is by far redguard, since they have +10% stamina pool and 9% regen, with change to regain stamina on attacks.

Woodelf also has 21% stamina regen, so if you have problems sustaining stamina, bosmer is your choice.

For magicka try altmer or breton, since they have passives for max magicka and altmer has regen bonus, where breton has reduced cost bonus.

There are tons of same topics, use search or do the thinking on your own.
    NB enthusiastic:
    1. Woodhippie stamblade - DW hard-hitter / PvE
    2. Know-it-all elf Magblade - Healer / PvE & PvP
    3. Hate-them-all elf Magblade - Destrostaff AoE monster / PvE
    4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

    Go dominion or go home

Stamina build - Redguard for pve (because adrenaline rush passive is the best sustain passive in game, so you can afford weapon damage glyphs without any issues), wood elf or cat for pvp/ganking (stealth passive).
Magicka build - Breton, Altmer or Dunmer.
Tank build - any race with +% stats really.

If you are only concerned with PVP. Wood Elf or Imperial for Stamina. High Elf or Breton for Magicka. However note that both Imperial and Wood Elf can be used with Magicka and the bonuses will not be wasted.

My NB Orc is pretty good and lots of fun to play. But has gotten very squishy since I started using medium armor for extra stam and damage bonuses.

For magicka (especially Resto/Destro), is Altmer really better compared to Dunmer?
    • Dunmer 7% fire dmg vs. 4% Altmer elemental dmg
    • Dunmer gets +6% stam with 9% magicka vs. +10% magicka
    • Dunmer Fire resist vs. Magicka Recovery

So if you give up 1% overall magicka (Altmer), as a Dunmer you can get 3% more fire dmg, and have a decent amount of stam if you ever want to go stamblade.

Are Fire Resist and Magicka Recovery even noticeable? I know FR was gimped in 1.6.

How does Breton stack up? You lose the elemental dmg the other 2 offer for some spell resist and cost reduction--which I'm not sure is worth it.

Is Imperial really bad? It seems to me an Imperial won't have to take +Health food or enchants, so does this help them catch up? Or do the Magicka races still continue to stack magicka even further?

For magika NB, nothing seemed as good as Breton to me frankly. You get a solid 3 passives that will work for you, instead of the 2 that Altmer get. As a NB even if you are going to use staff, you are probably not going to use the staff line abilities. This is because you get solid (better) class specific ranged attacks. Heck, frankly if you are going to do ranged setup with a NB and staff.. I don't know why you'd pick a destro staff over a resto staff. Resto staff you'd at least get extra healing off your class abilities while low on hp (sub 30%). Where as the Desto staff passives only apply to desto staff abilities. Funnel Health/Swallow soul are so mana effecient for damage I can't imagine using something else from the destro line instead. So... with that above in mind, Breton you get a solid 3 passives, Altmer 2.

For Stam NB, I started out with an Imperial. Honestly, at this point seeing how things play out better... once there is a race change option I'll be switching him from Imperial to either Redguard or Bosmer. Most likely Redguard, but I go back and forth. As for Imperials not having to take + health enchants.. I don't think anyone using either Redguard or Bosmer does that anyway. You're going to have a larger health pool as Imperial, but it's not even 1 good hit worth over either other race. And Regen is very very powerful frankly. As a stam blade, your entire defensive is based around movement/dodge rolls and rally/vigor. If you don't have the regen, you're a one trick pony that won't last long once you are out of stealth. And as a stam blade, you're not going to be perma stealthing. Invis pots are actually better on stam blade I find than class stealth for getting away etc.
