The upsetting thing is that they told us to expect the opposite. As a EU player I'm used to get updates a day later, but now I was really looking forward to play a day early.

The problem now is that while in the previous schedule, the NA maintenance was supposed to take 4 hours longer, NA is 5-9 hours behind the EU, so they would get to play the new DLC earlier in the day anyway. Now, as far as I can tell, the NA server has been up since 8 AM EST, which gives NA players the whole day to play Orsinium, whereas it's now 4 PM CET here and we have still a couple more hours to wait for the servers to go up, and then still have to download the patch, which won't leave most people with a resonable amount of time to enjoy the update today.

So next time, just say outright that EU will get the patch a day later so we won't get our hopes up again.

Europe has a lot more Gamers than north America. Also I'm sure the dev's went out of their way just to annoy some of you folks. I mean why else would they be updating this game.

What other companies do when these things happen, is that they INFORM THE PLAYERS about it WHEN IT HAPPENS - not several hours later.

Just to give you all a quick update, it turns out the North American megaserver maintenance will be wrapping up first and that server will be open within the hour. We're still working on the European megaserver maintenance, and will give you an updated ETA as soon as we can.

In the main announcement thread, it says that to "expect it to be available within a couple hours." In my understanding, that's totally different than "within the hour". Not sure which one it is now, although I don't mind terribly either way.

Yeah that's kinda how time works, if your second post (15:22) is about an hour after the first one (14:34)...

I heard if you leave the launcher running, it will start auto download. I can't confirm though, never tried.

It's natural things don't always go smoothly, but maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to implement patch downloading in the background before the patch is released, or patch downloading while essential components have been downloaded and you are in game. Or at least bring the server down, make the patch available for download immediately so one can download it before the maintenance is done.
This way Orsinium is happening for EU 11/3/2015
