weaving question

I just started practicing weaving. When I cast an ability and press my light/medium attack when I hear my character make the attack grunt but don't see the weapon did that make a successful weave?

Yes. When weaving the audio is not cut, as the animation is, which can lead to desyncing.
When the reticle flashes red and you hear a distinct impact sound, you know the blow has landed.
