Fix the shadow cloak exploit, please.

  • ClaspingZero
In regards to the first post, I'm a NB and use this ability not as an exploit but as an ability I can use.... it's available. It still surprises me how many NBs actually still can't use the ability properly. I had one person running from me in stealth, reappear, stealth, reappear etc... the whole point is never to be seen again.

NBs can disappear but we have a distinct lack of knock down moves in comparison to other classes, lack of healing abilities, and depending on which weapon we use we are mostly single target.... all of which is fine by me. I get killed at times, survive barely intact by running away (until a dragonknight pulls me back), and other times i completely decimate the battleground... it all depends on who I'm fighting against.

Personally, I think the abilities are fine as they are and that the abilities that make each class their own should remain. A few tweaks here and there to other abilities sure, I'll be up for that.

A lot of people's complaints make no sense to me. This one included.
Magicka NBs have minimal survivability and their damage isn't even close to what it should be considering that. But you want them nerfed further? Cloak is our only way to survive, combined with healing ward. We have no class shields like all the other classes and no insta-heal like DKs, Templars and stamina builds.
NBs gain what could be an advantage in some fights, and everyone cries nerf. Can't wait for the QQ when the changes to cloak come into effect...

A heavy or light attack killed you?

Is there a possible that staff can do 10K damage in one heavy attack?

I've seen it done with a DK really easy, but is possible with NB I guess, using CP in the staff expert passive.

I really wonder how he do that.

Same as a NB can do it. Put points into the Staff Expert passive.

As many people are probably aware, you can light/heavy attack in shadow cloak without it being broken. That means that you have a few nice seconds to wail at an enemy without him ever being able to see you or able to retaliate properly. Pretty nifty in a game where a heavy attack can do 10-20 k of damage.

It's been documented on youtube as well.

Just figured I'd post it here for @ZoS to see, just in case all the in game bug reports go missing.

    Cheers!

People need to stop complaining and learn the classes they are fighting against. If you are fighting a nightblade and hes using his small magica pool (stamina build) to melee you hes leaving himself extremely vulnerable to counters and with 0 chance to escape a bad situation as he cant cloak out. Instead of panicking which im sure you did just block his light/heavy attacks until he cant spam cloak. At that point you should have no problem beating him.

I know how it works but its not really an exploit more like a waste of time... you know he wouldnt be able to do it if you had a single AOE right? Since this only works with close up weapons (doesnt work with destro or bow).

Magicka build hitting you with his melee weapons heavy attack wont hurt at all since ya know we are magicka built. Now I guess this could be abused by a stamina build and it would actually hurt but they will run outta magicka and you can capitalize on that to kill them.

Also to fix this would require changing animation canceling which allows this to be done. (or they revert to 1.4-1.5 where cloak never worked) I say leave cloak where it is since it finally WORKS.

Light/Heavy attacks do not break cloak (or sneak!) if a certain condition is met: you kill the target with that light/heavy attack.

This works even without the Shadow Champion Passive (which gives stealth from killing opponent with Heavy/Light attack).

And there are much, much more fun tricks like this, which I plan to explain in a future video

Sorry, guys - I haven't been reading up on the forums for a while, but skimming through the thread it strikes me that people are misunderstanding the point I was trying to make.

This bug is a new one to my knowledge, and I've been playing the game, on and off, since early 2013. This has nothing to do with how the ability is supposed to work, and how you use it in your rotations and stuff like that.

The issue is that right now, unlike in the past, you can go invisible and hit people while invisible without becoming visible to the opponent. This has never been the case before and certainly is not the way the ability was designed to work.

If you use shadow cloak and hit an opponent with a fully charged heavy attack for instance, you should be taken out of invisibility and not being able to wail on him for the remainder of the 2.9 seconds without him being able to see you.

I beleive something broke when they made the changes so that you have a DoT on an enemy and go invis while the DoT is ticking or something.

That seems a bit long since ESO released April 4th in 2014.
Hitting someone without becoming visible only works with Ambush (intended) and Fire Staff heavy attacks (bugged). All other attacks will make you visible to the target.

    1. ANY attack breaks stealth/cloak (any damage TAKEN also breaks it)
    2. Magicka NB properly geared can cloak every 2 sec without problems.
    3. Cloak breaks when NB applies DoT on target (from class ability, weapon enchants don't count)

    2 SECONDS?

I keep cloak up all the time. Only thing right now that can see me is Detect Pots.

I can animation cancel cloak 160+ times (around 0.5 secs or so) just wanted to add that ;)

about the OP and the comment I made above YOU CAN ATTACK WHILE IN CLOAK AND STAY INVISIBLE it only works on heavy attacks with duel wield and 2H and you must do it a certain way. But even so it really isnt an issue because the only people that can do this are magicka NB

It *USED* to work with heavy destro but was fixed in PTS.

Like @Araxleon pointed out, it only really works with melee weapons now. So, they have to be in melee range to hit you - slot an AoE ability and you can pull them out of cloak. Or you can just use a detect pot :P

Next Update will be...The Rise of Magicka Nightblade >:D
    I can't wait for the QQ :D

lol manipulating what I said to suit you xD

My point is that Magicka Nightblades lack in every aspect. They have no burst apart from Magicka Det. They have minimal survivability and no sustained damage. Now that Nightblades may have something that could be an advantage against Potatos, people are crying nerf. Magicka Nightblades are essentially an easy kill in the current state of the game. If you are dieing to light/heavy attacks from a magicka nightblade in melee range:
L2P. Detect potions, AoE attacks, Mark Target...oh and BLOCK

And the light/heavy attacks do break cloak.
