Fix the shadow cloak exploit, please.

As many people are probably aware, you can light/heavy attack in shadow cloak without it being broken. That means that you have a few nice seconds to wail at an enemy without him ever being able to see you or able to retaliate properly. Pretty nifty in a game where a heavy attack can do 10-20 k of damage.

It's been documented on youtube as well.

Just figured I'd post it here for @ZoS to see, just in case all the in game bug reports go missing.

Keep in mind if you are magicka you can cloak again after the attack if this is true. If so, I will try this tonight and expliot the hell out of this as long as the nerf on BOL stands.

Any form of attack should bring you out of invisibility, but this is not the case.

Another player screaming "L2P" lol....How exactly do you "learn to play" when you get hit for 20k by somebody that's invisible and had no chance or way of knowing where they were before you died to them?

Before I engage I can often get a 20k heavy Fire staff attack off from a basic "sneak" stealth position. No cloak, just stayi fb out of detect range.

Especially when I'm hitting 4 light attacks and you can't even see me. Untill I stun you with a CW followed by a 30k Assassin Will. You're dead by then though

Imo all attacks, buffs, and shields should bring you out of stealth.

I do find it obnoxious them popping in stealth after every attack forcing me to use a detect potion just to fight them. If they nerf detect pots its really going to suck. But i dont see this as an exploit as most the time when they are doing this i still see them breifly and can kind of track them still.

hmm. My NB always gets knocked out of cloak and or stealth after a hit. I am able to remain undetected with good timing of cloak but that's pretty limited in that I can only get about 4 casts and need to be out of line of sight asap if I with to remain unseen.

Interesting. Will check it out but I'm pretty skeptical.

Staying invisible for 2.5 and weaving in between it is a valid tactic according to the tooltip.

So if you get sniped by a sniper in a war game like call of duty you going to cry nerf snipers? Ganking and sniping is part of the game. It is all about awarness. Don't travel alone and if you do follow others. On kill count a addon on pc I die more by night blades then any other class. I also kill more NB then any other class. I find that a fair trade. Use caltrophs to find those rotten gankers you hate. I can still go in stealth with a sorc and snipe you followed by a crystal frag and your done. When you are unprepared and don't know the location of the ganked it's highly likely your going to die regardless of what class hits you. So yeah I guess if you want to say l2p then so be it but I was not trying to imply that at all. Sometimes people not saying you think they are the world's greatest players and they are not. I hear people in zone bragging all the time about how great they are but when they die they start yelling and crusing.

oh yeah bowman NB are the most annoying, i mean they will shoot you and be stealthed again before the arrow even hits you so you are stuck looking around, where the *** did that come from.

oh wait come to think of it any class can do this because if your far enough away from someone and hit them you can restealth. so balanced i love it, huh Eric Wroble.

nightblades do it best tho due to bonuses to stealth damage. hence the instagib lethal arrows.

Than, consider this about the next patch:

• The 30% less damage nurf will not be enough, as an NB can still annihilate your armor value and most of their skills are real instants (less prolongued animations), which in the right hands hit you WAAAAY faster than most templar skills
• Dual Wield is getting buffed twice: slightly higher weapon damage + empower (20% more damage buff) on the throwed dagger
• Dark Cloak is getting buffed significantly // this is a stand-alone point, I can't go into details = too much text :-(
• Crazy stamina/magicka regen will still make the 30% dodge roll nurf "forgatable"
• ....

--> high burst damage will still REMAIN in Eso PvP --> people like to forget that HP were nurfed in 1.6 (mostly console newcomers) ---> guess which class will profit most of the next patch!?

I don't remember staying invis if I light attack an enemy with daggers.
If you're in stealth or cloaked and you heavy attack, you're visible again.
Ambush doesn't break cloak, but this is special since you can combine it with surprise attack to stun your enemy.

Will test it again tho, but I'm sure that light and heavy attacks with Dw breaks cloak.

All dmg skills are breaking it as well, except Ambush.

He is 100% correct.

All I can guess is the OP saw a NB cloak, wind his heavy attack and re-cloak after it hit.

Also to just set the record straight, Cloak is categorized as "Invisible" and not "Stealthed" thus it does not get the Stealth modifier and 100% crit . Though one Cloak morph will give 100% crit for the next abilty.

So if you got hit for a 20K heavy attack your attacker was in stealth. I regularly get 18K heavy attack from stealth, but the best I can manage from cloak is about 9-10k crits.

As a tip, you can negate all of this with one ability, Radiant Magelight. And until 1.7 Detect pots.

You will be revealed from stealth whether you heavy/light attack with a destro or melee weapon from cloak. As soon as it hits, you are revealed from stealth.

Fire Destro, doesn´t break cloak since PTS, but it´s the only weapon i know that doesn´t break it.
Everything else does and yes this should be fixed but zos didn´t care for 5 months.

Oh yeah right, same goes for those players who land 4-6 atacks on you, only popping out of stealth OR invis when the last attack's animation is already finishing. Who sometimes can't pull this trick because they are tab-targeted by like 5 raging people getting farmed by the exploit, and get a tons of CC flying at them. Then they cloak, and perform the same simultaneous attack bursts from cloak a couple seconds later, nothing like going out of battle inbetween. Who has been reported many times and still keep playing freely, but i'd probably got a ban if i named the sweethearts here. And don't forget about unbreakable CC that instantly re-applies in the procces of their burst, so that even if you're lucky to notice a slightest stumble in yoru character movement, predicting an inevitable instagib, and you immediately hit breakfree, it won't work for a good second after their burst has ended.

And no, i'm talking 4 am zero lag campaign.

What OP referred to is a deliberate exploit learnt by few, not available to everybody like nirn. It doesn't make it any less important, if only more so.

Sounds like QQ 2 me. Never not been popped from stealth after doing damage to anyone. Tested since and what the OP is speaking of doesn't seem to happen to anyone I know and they are pretty entrenched in the NB solo or small group pvp.

What is more than likely happening is a recloak after a hits or closer to the point as they hit. It's not an exploit and requires good timing.

Some friendly advice. Radiant Magelight and detection potions with AOE are your friends.

BTW- Most people get burned down from any class combination if they get jumped by 4-5 people pretty much before they can blink. Nothing new there.
