@Anlaemar we've stated that we'll be sharing more details about Imperial City in July--that's pretty soon. :)

it is time to let him go, and do not share information :/

We've got some exciting new additions coming to the Crown Store next month, including a limited time Frost Mare mount. Check out the full article to see all of our upcoming offerings!

Was going to pick up the Senche Lioness? Might have to the Frost Mare instead ;] So the new cat, the Abecan Ratter Cat, is rat catching specialist, opposed to the housecat. But you can't use it in combat? I thought pets were cosmetic ? Still not to bad:]

Wasn't interested in the flame mount or the senches. I'm sold on the Frost Mare, however. Saved my monthly crowns as soon as news about this leaked. Yay!

Music to my ears on that hint... :D.

P.S. Guar tempted me to share time with my tiger as to what I rode around normally, but did not succeed. Frost Steed that looks just like the one in Dark Age of Camelot when they added them during the Catacombs expansion...? Already sold! Buying it as soon as it's available :p

I can live with gold farmers, bugs, delay updates or server crashs, the quickest way to drive me and many others who love the TES game lore is to throw it out of the window. Lore SHOULD always go 1st.

I agree, completely. Bethesda has usually been very good with this sort of thing; I can only hope that Zenimax learns from mistakes. The extreme liklihood is that they are using them as money-sinks for us gullable idiots.
The rest of the items of the items in this preview looks cool and I am digging the Gothic dress. It is / will be hard to over look lore mistakes like fire, ice and bear mounts. Worst case, I can wait for BGS who is the true master of TES games to make TES 6 and respect their lore. ESO is a spin off game after all, I am still loading out hope for it in the lore department. If ZOS keep breaking TES lore, then ZOS will force me to leave ESO.

Can anyone ( I hope ZOS can) help me with my lore concerns? Thanks.

You're not alone. It was like this with me when I played LotRO on the dedicated RP server Laurelin - so many things were lore-breaking, eventually culminating in me leaving because Turbine went for buck against book.

The single most important question worth being addressed is left uncommented. I heard there is a Loremaster. Or was there? @ZOS_JasonLeavey

Guys, guys come on. If it's really that concerning to you about lore-breaking then why are you playing? Plus, if you think about it, I'd rather they throw in all sorts of skins and costumes in the crown store rather than B2W items that become game breaking and really ruin the fun for all of us. I mean, they need to make money somehow in order to support patches and server maintenance, since there is no monthly fee anymore. So either you choose they keep putting items like this in the store (which I think are quite catchy) or they put B2W options that become game-breaking.

Perhaps you should ask ZOS why they even hire Lawrence Schick as Loremaster if lore-breaking is not a concerning issue. And perhaps you should ask how many people play this game just because it is a TES game.

I am all for crown store vanity items to support the game and studio, provided they are not breaking lores TOO MUCH. The fire horse and the frost one this time, if no further detailed lores provided, are simply out of the line. I just hope the can put some more efforts and think twice before they try to sell these vanity items.

I do pay a sub, so I am supporting ZOS that way. One of the main reasons I play ESO because of TES lore. Also, I play the game for stories, quests and lore. So, yes, lore is very important to many like us.

Lore went out the window the moment they decided to have a "chosen one" storyline in an MMO setting.

The crown store cosmetic items are mainly involve the art team. Given that once environmental art for new areas is complete and after intiial gameplay testing usually doesn't undergo any significant changes (at least whenever possible) while near-finished assets for the Imperial City and Wrothgar were shown as early as last year, I sincerely doubt that having some artists assigned to making these vanity items has even the slightest impact on new content reaching us.
If I purchase these items on one character, am I able to use them on the another character in the same account?

Yes, you are, including any of them you want to at the same time :). Mounts, costumes, and vanity pets like these from quests and the cash shop (crown store) all end up in your Collections window, which any character (on the same account, as you asked about) can use, with it being shared between them.

It's a high fantasy title in a world of spells, soulstorms, planemelds, incredibly powerful world-shaping gods and demons, in an MMO. Lore is very malleable :p, and while you don't want to completely jump the shark, a magical frost stallion is hardly out of place like say, a Sherman tank would be suddenly being available to lob anti-artillery rounds at buildings ;). I don't think this is a huge worry to most people especially given the type of game setting where it feels appropriate since it fits in with the general theme very cleanly.

There is no reason it should exist. We had this discussion before, and somehow decided that it is a normal horse that has been fed some kind of Frostsalt diet or potion over a period of time.

It's not the first time the community has to come up with lore-appropriate explanations, but in this case it feels unsettling because it's such an obvious cash-thing. Some word from Lawrence Schick on this would be great, though.

Just in case you missed the lore explanation...

With its icy gaze and steaming breath, the frigid Frost Mare seems carved from the very glaciers of Skyrim. Its exact origin is unknown, but the Mages Guild believes it may originally have come from Takubar, the plane of origin of Cold Flame Atronachs.

That is half of the answer to my question, then can @ZOS or MR / MRS @nimander99 can explain how every Jon and Jane Doe can ride ice or fire mounts? True, that TES is a magical world, however, not every common person *KNOWS* magic or even like magic -- Orc, Nords and Redgrauds, for example. To dig a little deeper, Khajiits can learn magic, but the race is not bless with Magicka gift like the Mer (Elves) are. So a lot of (most?) of the race does not know magic as a natural as some other races (like the Mer Races) can.

I am waiting for a good lore reason why we have bear mounts, can @ZOS or MR / MRS @nimander99 show me in game book that explains this concern as well?

The dragon Boziikkodstrun was corrupted and reformed into the first Daedric Titan.
    http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Daedra_Dossier:_The_Titans

So, theoretically, you could reverse-engineer a Titan into another new species that shares a dragon-like morphology. It just wouldn't be possible to get a pure-bred dragon out of it again. It's a concept that probably wouldn't be explored in ESO but could make for an interesting discussion for TES6.

As far as "lore," it's not that hard to see that ESO's timeline is going to end with the Imperials pretty much destroying the written history of this era and letting time forget the rest. Each race will be left with just a few piece and whispers of what really happened. In time, the people will simply believe what the Empire tells them happened, because Joe NPC isn't exactly a scholar or a gentleman.

Love the new stuff. People complaining about the Frost Horse simply can't evolve their way of perceiving TES Lore. Your explanation about Takubar makes beautifully perfect sense.

I do, however, have a complaint about the lack of men's costumes. Ladies now have two stunning dresses they can wear at social events, and I'm stuck looking like a chef, a blacksmith or a draugr. Any plans on some lovely suits for the menfolk?

Also, I'd sacrifice my own soul for an update on Spellcrafting.

TBH, I don't like the fire horse or the stupid bear for the same reason I don't like an ice horse -- [snip] I still hate the idea in games that says: "if it can move, let us make a mount with it."

I can live with gold farmers, bugs, delay updates or server crashes, the quickest way to drive me and many others who love the TES game lore is to throw it out of the window. Lore SHOULD always go 1st.

Thanks.

Here is a decent explanation (imo) as they come from Takubar, the plane of origin of Cold Flame Atronachs, they could very well be as numerous as the thousands of atronachs that everyone used to grind in Spellscar. Also, since they will most likely be 25$, not every person that plays eso will have one, I would imagine they will be as used as the Nightmare mount is, which is to say, not much :P

Edit: Don't forget that the Snow Prince spoken of in Morrowind rode one of these mounts into battle against the Nords for years.

@nimander99 : Could you point out the quote please? I'm looking at Fall of the Snow Prince right now and all I'm seeing about his mount was that it was "a brilliant steed of pallid white."

Can we *please* get some kind of confirmation of the Clouded Senche-Leopard? It's been teased and datamined, but if you could at least give us an ETA, I would greatly appreciate it.

My in-game name is @ VeronicaStormborn

You have to remember, the Soul shriven that have returned from Molag Bal are the only ones going around riding these things. Thats the same reason we can die repeatedly and be brought back with soul shards(and the stronger we become, the more powerful the shard required to bring us back).

We are, by and large, on our own level. We're capable of great feats, which is why the NPCs around you will constantly stop and say "By Shor, you were there when...!!!!", "It's you, you stopped that thing from happening..!!!". We're not 'every random Joe" in the world, we're the bad MFs who were sacrificed to a dark daedra, brought back and are saving the world. It stands to reason, that we can summon or tame such wild and powerful mounts for our use.

Basically, use your imagination alittle. Trust me, I understand wanting to maintain the lore; it's important in any game that attempts to draw from years of it's own lore to maintain it's story, but don't be so hard-nosed about it that you're letting afew cosmetic mounts ruin the entire thing for you.

You'll either relax and enjoy the game; doing the quests, playing with friends and guildmates and enjoying the content. Or you'll be a lore snob and stop playing. Personally, I think enjoying the game and not getting caught up in rather minor details is the best option, and the community will be better for it.
