So being the cocky prick that I am, I whispered an AD player that could not for the life of him get his group of about 15+ to take Faregyl mine from about 8 of us. Once they finally killed me I whispered "Man, that was awful." He replied "Do I know you?" I then said, "You should, I killed you about 5 times back there at that farm." He then challenged me to a 1v1 that I pridefully accepted given how squishy I thought he was. To my dismay, I was absolutely destroyed by the whip. It was humiliating and I will most certainly cry myself to sleep tonight. But what I'm wondering is if there is some bug with molten whip/flame lash. As a stamina DK, I rely heavily on dodge trolling and burst damage. Of course he tanked hardcore and used evasion so attempting damage was almost futile. And whip just tore right through me like a hot knife through butter even while dodging. I'm a competitive turd, but I will admit defeat. I'm just wondering what on earth is up wit da whip. FYI we called no potions during the fight. My tripots are part of what make me amazing. 10% -skill + 90% tripots = Peggy

    5k damage doesn't seem like a lot till you realize it's on someone with like 20k health probably and their one defense (dodging) is ignored by it. God help you if you are a vampire with no nirnhoned, damn near two shot you on a crit

    I have no nirnhoned. We actually 1v1'd twice. The first time it was tougher for him to kill me and we actually stopped because an ally marked him mid-fight. Between fights, he asked how much nirn I was running. I am also not a vampire. I may have been dramatic at how long it took for him to kill me, but my point was I was being eaten alive by the whip while being able to do almost nothing to him. This isn't my way of QQ'ing. I lost for sure, but I now understand that whip is bugged and maybe I'll only cry for a little while tonight instead.

    Yeh, vampire will go back to be 100% not viable once Nirnhoned is fixed.

    Dk talon+whip is one of the counter builds to perma dodge rolling. Too bad they are nerfing it. I dont play a dk but it seems fair. That build wont do much against any tanky build but it absolutely recks glass cannon builds. In my point of view: perma dodge rolling is just as broken as whip going through dodge.

    It is about one of the only things I still think is fair in pvp. Every build out there has at least one counter build running around. Relying on broken mechanics kinda sucks but... This entire bloody game is held togheter by duct tape at this point so...

    Same good streak does basically. They are not the same. Streak is a bit more offensive but dodge roll can negate so much incoming dmg, combined with high mobility. Ever tried catching a full medium armor nb ganker with dodge roll and retreating manoever equipped? He will hit you from stealth. Burst you down. If you somehow manage to survive, he dodges with rapid manoeber. Runs off a bit. Stealths up and the cycle repeats itself. You have a small window in which you need to do 10-20k dps or you wont kill him. Dodge roll is a huge part of that build. A dk with talons+whip can reck his *** though.

    that's funny because I thought Whip and Concealed weapon were meant to counter the people on rollerblades, and that the rollerblades were the broken mechanic.

    like magicka DK was not gutted enough during 1.6, there are only like two specific builds that work now.

    I do love the rollerblading try hards and sorcs that look like their spazzing out trying to kill you, you can be afk and they will still fly around you jumping and dodge rolling and spinning in circles going through their combos as franticly as they can.

    though I must admit I find the trolly sorcs with lightning form, mist form, full cyrodils light to be funny though, it reminds me of an electrified squirrel trying to zip through everyone.

    I actually feel sorry for Templars and DK's these days and their lack of mobility, specially blue builds, they have to like. . .just walk after people, so sad.

    No pots for a stamina DK is dangerous for a prolonged fight, NB can throw on siphoning attacks and buckle down for a prolonged fight. Considering whip hits through dodge, you've got literally minimal defense. If you're not wearing nirn and taking extra damage from whip, it's a wrap.

    Excessive dodging in a prolonged duel isn't good, a good opponent will take advantage of this and conserve stamina / magicka while you exhaust your stamina. At the same time a good fighter will still be able to hit you with some efficiency. Block > Dodger, puncture > wrecking blow. Beat magicka DK at his own game using fossilize to attack his stamina while putting out consistent and efficient damage.

    Yeah I guess that's what chain pull was originally designed for oh wait , no one uses it anymore because it got nerfed also.

    If they fix the two stam potion bug then sure, I do not mind them changing what can and cannot be dodge by using dodge roll. But if people are still allowed to get 40% stam regen using two potions and now being able to dodge everything..... Oh how I love the balance in pvp...

    A lot of DK's go heavy armor spell damage and block whip for high damage. That is probably why he seemed so tanky and had such high damage.

    A lot of DKs are doing it because going stamina is boring and frankly subpar in comparison to Templars/nightblades stamina builds

    You can animation cancel instant attacks while dodge rolling, won't even open you up to more attack. Attack then dodge. repeat. Works well with vigor too!

    Stamina medium armor players have always been able to dodge a lot, but it was still something you did as needed because you'd run out of stamina, somehow they need to fix the game so it goes back to being something strategic.

    Whip is why I switched my NB to WW from Vamp.

    That said if he's spamming whip the he's likely magicka and you need to spam Petrify on him to run him out of stamina and keep distance from him with evasion/retreating maneuvers until you can do that. Without tri-pots it's damn tough for a magicka DK to break free endlessly especially if he's spamming invasion on you as well.

    It's easier on a Stam NB than it is a Stam DK I'm sure but then again you probably have Vigor by now so it should be manageable.

    Yeah the ridiculous double potion bug, been around for as long as I can remember.

    Do you need even more stamina to go with your already infinite resource pool? Here have another potion! Imagine if you could use spell power + magicka potion...

    I bug reported it a while back, but got 0 response of course. Probably need to make an entire general discussion thread about a potion to get any reaction from ZoS.

    Topic: Yes, stam DK could use some love. I despise broken infini dodge-rollers as much as the next player, but bugs shouldn't be kept in-game to balance builds. It's lazy and this company has been doing it consistently since day one. Some build or skill is totally wack, but wait there's this unintended designed or bug that makes it more tolerable. So lets keep all of it in-game for a few month, let players beta test a bit more :smile:

    Whips ignore dodge roll, you need to try another tactic to survive not just *roll away*

    Im not a DK expert (only play NB) but xylena could help ya she deals with magicka DK extremely well as a stamina DK

    -from what I have seen you dont change much but playstyle-

    (I have seen people counter without having to change entire playstyle, but I dont play DK so IDK)

    I forsee ZoS nerfing drinks to a small regeneration number and allowing it to stack with food. Damage shield spam, roll dodge spam, all spam relies on Rislav's lovely Kvas!

    This is true. With drink, Green Dragon Blood, and Continuous Attack, my Stamina regen gets to about 2.1k
