Yay! Riding lessons on Crown Store.

I think this is cool, a welcome addition. So if I do the math...(sleepy math, hope i get it right)

1000 crowns - 10 lessons.
1 lesson = 1 skill point.
60 skill points = maxed skill
6000 crowns = maxed skill

3 skill lines maxed = 18000 crowns

5500 crowns = $39.99 x 3 = 16500 crowns = $119.97
1500 crowns = $14.99
18000 crowns = $119.97 +$14.99 = $134.96

$134.96 to max out all 3 skill lines

That's a huge stretch and you know it.

I'm glad it's priced the way they did it. I won't be using it, but it's not low hanging enough that the majority of players will buy it.

FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

How exactly does this win? Mounts are useful, but they don't help you kill stuff. They are quality of life items (they help you get places faster, and improve your carry capacity).

I guess "P2QOL" just doesn't have the same bite.

Big advantages of having the best mount in PvP, or in this case a 60/60 speed and stamina one in Cyrodiil. You can for example avoid 90% of all gankers and just keep riding. Not getting killed over and over while trying to reach an objective is pretty "win" to me.

But more importantly, PvP is a horse simulator and it sucks when your mount is slow and under-levelled.

Horse bags tho, that's pure convenience.

No, it is not. Let's go through it once again: there already are items that basically turn cash into gold by allowing p(l)ayer to avoid otherwise necessary expenses. Gold can be used to buy other items, say gear. Therefore, gear can be bought for cash.

I can see there being an advantage to the horse, but the advantage is tangential -- it's an advantage that helps you get to the place where people are fighting, but it kind of goes away when all the fighting actually starts. I'm not sure it really qualifies as "P2W" -- it won't come into play in any of the actual PvP events, with the possible exception of carrying an Elder Scroll from Point A to Point B, if the game lets you do that. If it does, then I'll concede the point in that instance.

Gankers? Well, if you take the same route the second time, you might want to rethink that.

How long did it take you? And if you buy a 'new' mount, does the training apply to that mount on all characters or just the one you have 5/7 trained.

I, for one, enjoy laughing at people calling everything pay-to-win.
Specifically regarding this addition, you do not go over max and you get something finished faster that does not directly affect combat. A bit of a bonus in cyrodiil? Sure, but what about all the people that managed to skip training time by having 3 horses trained each days since the change was announced? They received an unfair advantage in reaching the end goal of max mount.

I highly dislike that this is the only way they addressed the 6 month mount grind, but I could care less because it is a small benefit and the only advantage is in pvp, but it is a small advantage at that. Regardless of how fast you reach the fight, if you suck it was wasted time anyhow. It is convenience plain and simple. People saying it is pay to win are going to say that about anything in the store which renders their opinions arbitrary.

Want your game to keep running? They need income. Aside from a short term issue with potion scaling, this store has been 100% convenience. Suck it up and complain when they add gear that is equal or better than endgame gear or materials.

Wait I can't max out my riding without paying money?

    Oh wait....

P2W = getting things otherwise unattainable

Also if things are that expensive and they want to charge $1000 a pop for 1 piece of armor you can get elsewhere in the game for free except the time spent to earn it I have no issue having other people bank role new content.

Are the people here claiming this to be P2W trolling or just genuinely deluded?

If your going with the "don't have to spend gold on horse so can spend it on other items" then all players in the game who don't work RL jobs and have more hours to play also MUST fall into the P2W category.

What about the fact that any 'real' gold made in game is through trade and traders, 2 identical items can be sold for vastly different prices at the exact same time, so that just refutes any claim to the first argument.

Personally i won't be purchasing this from the crown store, but i certainly won't criticize anyone who does or ZoS for putting it there!

It would take about 6 months from scratch. I bought extra Imperial horses before the change tho and leveled up each character with 3 horses (Speed, Stam, Carry) so I had a head start on them.
Yes, this is per character both ingame and crown store. Mounts are just skins now, so once you have a characters Riding Skill maxed, any mount you buy will be maxed as well.

Again, not P2W either. People you really need to STOP throwing around these P2W claim on everything entering the store.

P2W means buying something that gives you a tactical advantage that is purchased with real money and not obtainable in-game. Adding some convenience items (such as exp potions or riding skills) are NOT P2W!

That said, no way would I ever consider even spending that ridiculous amount of money to train my riding skills. I can do it with some time and patience instead, but to those who do then that is fine too, more money to ZOS to hopefully start putting out regular content now that they can't use the "focusing on console launch" excuse anymore.

Nothing P2W about it. Find something else to complain about. They have a market place for people to spend money. Keeps the game alive. The effect on you is such that you no longer need a subscription to enjoy the game.

    ...and here you are. Crying.

Is it something you need or want? Then buy it. If not, don't. Very simple.

There's nothing on there that you *MUST* have to enjoy the game. If you disagree with that statement, then perhaps you should look for a Subscription Required MMO...and maybe spend a little time searching within yourself to determine why you're so bitter about trivial matters.

I hope they add all sorts of things to the Crown Store.

Are these the same QQ'ers here who complain about levelling takes too long? That would be funny.

Yes, good horses definitely give you an advantage in PvP. It takes almost half a year to learn all the lessons - until that you have a handicap compared to people who have maxed out theirs already. So it is definitely P2W. Now, levelling riding skills only takes some time, the gold cost is ridiculously low. This means all characters existing over half a year should and will have it maxed without any trouble. I know I have on 7 alts maxed, the last one is a level 4 mule which still in progress (no rush...). Not sure what's the concern for P2W QQ'ers? Are you afraid that newly joined players will have the same advantage in PvP as you? It's not a pyramid scheme where the old players can feast upon the new joiners.

I only regret it would cost cheaper cause currently it's more like a scam than a sale. Although, being PEGI-18 game, ZOS deserves all the money it can get from losers. I'm sure it will be used for the good cause. >:)

Shortcuts to gain something that can be achieved without any effort with a bit more time AND which is already available to majority of players is not P2W. When they start selling riding lessons above the current 60 skill levels, exclusively in Crown Store... now that will be P2W, not this one.

XP boost created for the purpose of getting a character end-game ready is not P2W. But when used to increase the gap between the top 1-5-10% and the average end-gamers then it becomes debatable.
