Just don't make an Argonian Templar like I did as my first toon. They nerfed their only good passive into nothingness.

I can't see why anyone would make an Argonian for ANY CLASS unless they just really, really liked the lizard look. Almost any other race is better for any class over an Argonian

    Argonians make good bank toons.

I'm an Argonian Templar (VR12). Play what you like! Enjoy the game and don't worry about min/maxing.

My approach to this, is that I always select the race that visually pleases me. For example in ESO I like Bretons, so I play Breton no matter what class/build I am going to make. The whole point is that this is an RPG and looking your character at the login screen should make you wanna press the play button.

For a stamina-templar (2h) I'd strongly suggest you to pick the race with 20% more stamina regen, stamina regen will come in handy to you, especially in PvP.

Search the forums: you'll find people that keep complaining that there is one race with the strongest stamina regen %+ because they think it is o.p. Pick that one!

Seriously reconsider, Templars are not in good shape right now, play a DK if you want to be tanky damage otherwise you are just in for a world of frustration and clunky broken skill mechanics.

    for stam temp: imperial.

    for magick temp (healer): breton.

Or pick any race for looks; racial differences are not enough to trump the aesthetics of the race you are fond of.

You dont want to start off as a Templar if you are a new player unless you want to be a healer.

there are 2 types of Templars:
Stamina templars who use weapon abilities more then the class abilities
or the Healer templar that cant ever kill anyone

    You missed the 3rd type.

Magicka based Destro Templars who DPS as much as Stamina Melee Templars, and heal nearly as much as Resto healers.

    All The Best
Those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse.
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse.

The best races for a Templar are Imperial (Stamina/Tanking) and Breton (Magicka/Healing). I wish I had leveled a Templar because of Blazing Shield, Breath of Life and Cleansing Ritual.

BS is expensive and you only get a 6-7k shield out of it. Many strong skills have the ability to hit for 2-3x that amount, while being half the cost. Spamming BS will only save you for a short time and if you get CC'd while trying to do it, it is over.

Imperial for stamina because of the 10% incease to max stamina and 12% increase to hp.

This, I would go Imperial for Conditioning (Stamina Increase) and Red Diamond (Chance to get health from hit)
ZoS please understand everyone thinks and pronounces things differently, so please add to your 'rules' that things get removed if the Mod doesn't actually quite understand phrasing

Well you have higher health of course. Blazing shield is stronger and does more damage; but remember the best build for PvE and PvP and Group aren't the same.

IF your health is only 20k, if it's 30K, then you get 10K shield. The "cost" of BS is fixed, so it becomes "cheaper" the higher your health.

How to beat BS Templar as a Nightblade? Engage at range, using a bow; or bring friends.

If u want to go as stamina user - pick wood elf/redguard or imperial, if magicka is the way u want to go: high elf/breton/dunmer. Personally from stamina perspective i would pick this time redguard or imperial.

    sorcerer - Rubeus Farron AR31
    templar - Selene Farron AR27
    nightblade - Ryuho Farron AR25
    stamplar - Nura Farron AR10
stamsorcerer - Kitty Farron AR14 (adopted member)
    DK - Ryu Farron AR17

imperial is probbably the best allround race.

breton/high elf if you tend toward magica usage.
and bosmer if you want to be a stamina dps (21% stam reg racial is gorgeous) (stam is the only way to be a dps as a templar)

ps.: be prepared to fight windmills like don quijote if you insists on beeing a dps in pve as a templar :P

I find Imperial to be pretty well balanced, even with magika builds i tend to use Imp. so i can skimp on Stam and hopefully Red Diamond

Don't be afraid to play around with different builds of skills and attributes until you find a mix that works for you. You can always respec - it's not super cheap in terms of gold, but there aren't a lot of gold sinks in this game, so unless you're respeccing all the time it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Bag space is a HUGE gold sink :P

    played alot mmo-rpgs
    For templar with 2-h sword
Which race is like Ret pally from WoW
( Melee high dps with 2-h sword with healing )

Depends. But my advice is play what you like.
    This game is very flexible.

My main is Khajiit Templar, and depending gear I wear and how I configure my qbars, I can run it as Healer, Tank, Dps (both Magicka and Stamina), Archer.

My main preference is Magicka, 5H (or 5M in PvP)/2L, DW setup for more survival and very high magicka damage.

Templars while not "Paladins" are the more versatile class in this game.

If still confused any race is good, but Argonian, Khajiit or Nord. Some have the edge on some areas, others on other.
You cannot go wrong with Altmer, Breton, Imperial, Redguard, Bosmer, Dunmer, Orsimer

Yes, but it's also one of the only real gold sinks in the game (the upgraded mounts with +10 to a stat used to be another, but now that they're the same as all other mounts, and the basic mount became cheaper anyway, they're not so much of a gold sink anymore), and it's a one-time sink. Once you're upgraded to max you'll never put anything more into it again. I've dumped well over 1 million gold into bag & bank space (across 8 characters, including maxing out riding skill bag space), and I'll never need to put anything into it again. I also really didn't need to put nearly as much as that into it - I just maxed everything out because of "well, I've got all this gold lying around, so i might as well."

How to beat BS Templar as a Nightblade? Engage at range, using a bow; or bring friends.

If you have 30k health, how much magika or magika regen do you have? Pushing your health to 30k in order to gain an extra 3000 on your shield (which amounts to an extra 1500 damage on burst) at the expense of all other stats is a bad idea.

BS was triple nerfed in 1.6. It was nerfed when health coefficients went from 1.5 to 1.1 on all gear (26% nerf in strength), it was nerfed in Cyrodil when they dropped the strength of all shields down 15%, and it was nerfed when they increased the cost by 10%. Altogether the skill got hit hard and is a shadow of it's former strength.
