Is Lightning Splash useful?

Back when 1.6 was coming out, ZOS kept touting Lighting Splash and its morphs as the savior of the Sorc class. Well, we all know that Sorcs didn't actually need much help in PvP, and of course there was (still is?) the bug with Lighting boosting damage... but I'm wondering: is Lighting Splash any good? Does anyone have any advice on how to work it into a rotation? Just wondering if I should get it for my Sorc.

Yes it's great.

I use it in my Overload bar. Using regular abilities while in Overload is kind of clunky but once you get the hang of it you can do really nice dps with just Liquid Lightning + Overload light attacks (I use spell power potions so that I don't have to fool with Entropy while in Overload form).

On normal trash I actually use LL instead of Elemental Ring. I might do a little less aoe damage overall that way, but it's more fun and I've found that I stay alive much easier than when I just jumped in a pack of mobs in a vet dungeon or DSA and spammed Pulsar (in 1.5). You can drop LL in the middle then choose the mobs you want to single-target down quickly. It is also easier to build ultimate this way since you aren't doing regular attacks while spamming pulsar, and you need to build ultimate on the trash so that you can go to town with Overload on the bosses.

i use lightning splash heavily on the alt sorc i'm leveling for both tanking and dps. not so sure about late game but currently, i don't see why i wouldn't use it.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like you are mostly using it in PvE though; do you find it as useful in PvP?

Honestly ? Splash give me 2-3k damage per second, so 15-20% of my dps. It's huge. But even with that, my sorc have a lower dps than magicka/stamina dk and stamina NB/templar. A lot lower (12k for me, 17k for the other against the mantikora).

And the damage bonus showed by tooltips is a bug, real damage aren't boosted.

In PvP it's only useful in specific cases where enemies either cannot or do not want to move. I used to use it but because sorcs have so many essential skills that they need to PVP, I find most instances I am better off slotting something else.

Lightning slash (specifically liquid lighting) is used 100% of the time in PvE against static bosses.

LameoveR : I've tested it in 2.0.4 or something like that, and no increase. But you're right, now it's working, my bad.
