Heavy Armor still to weak in PvP?

Heavy armor isnt in that bad a spot, the rest of the game and its stacking of this and that.. not so much.

I can see them wanting to avoid a bunker build meta, that's not a bad thing necessarily. Nobody wants half hour fights with everyone they meet regardless of build.

There just needs to be better equilibrium between the choices. This idea of 'Max it'or go home, isnt exactly making the game very diverse.

from my experience, it's somewhat decent when solo (probably still weaker than the others for most bulids) and actually very good when playing in groups. while always very nice defensively, dodge rolling and being very mobile is sometimes diametral to the groups plan (i.e. where to move, where to focus impact, maek sure powerful synergies can be activated in the most crucial spots). HA allows that far better than both, perma dodgeing in medium and shield stacking in light.

its for tanking, it does whats intended very well, some might say too well. it makes block casting possible with no end to there stamina pool. they may not dish out the damage but they can survive a crap ton of damage against multiple foes. they obnoxiously get in the way of who you want to shoot all the time.

I have been playing with 5 HA and 2 MA for a couple weeks now. It's been a lot of fun... but the times when I get hit with a 10K Wrecking Blow... a series of them... ehh... something is wrong with that. For the most part, I can mitigate all forms of damage pretty well. I personally think it needs to be changed so that MA is HALF of what HA is in terms of armor... and give HA more armor... I'd say a 25% bump would be sufficient.

Medium armor on the other hand has no real downside. It has powerful offensive bonuses, defensive bonuses and 3/4 the passive protection of Heavy armor.

In practice medium is less than 3/4 passive protection of heavy armor because heavy armor line has a passive skill that increases armor by a percentage based on the # of heavy armor pieces worn.

Yep - Role dodge or hardened ward are far more effective

    It is weak because currently;

    Offence > Defence
    Burst > Sustained dps
    Dodge roll > Block

If you consider actual nerfs to the heavy armor passives&actives and the new meta changes, it was much more strong before 1.6.

The problem is really that regen is too high to make passive defense meaningful.

    5 Heavy - 1 Medium - 1 Light

    1,189 Magicka Recovery

    1,075 Stamina Recovery

    23,489 Health

    21,922 Magicka

    20,703 Stamina

    41.7% Maximum Possible Physical Mitigation

    48.3% Maximum Possible Spell Mitigation

Come at me bro. Come. At me.

If you cap mitigation at 50% for Armor and Spell which is possible, even in Light Armor, see @Armitas for explanation. Too lazy and too tired. You simply do not need to block, that means if your Maximum possible critical hit for a Wrecking Blow is 21k, it means I mitigate that down to 10k damage. Without block, without shields, without anything, your damage is halved when attacking me, period.

Heavy Armor reduces the cost of block, which, when used correctly, and built correctly, is still the most effective defense next to damage shields.

Heavy Armor gives you back a very small amount of resources when hit but it adds up.

Heavy Armor lets me lower my maximum Health and buff up my other stats as a result of the increased mitigation.

The only downside to Heavy Armor is that you have barely any reduction to the cost of your abilities, but, again, when played right, this doesn't matter in the slightest, I can still sustain and tank for a solid minute against five people if I had tripots, against one person, unless you're a very skilled Nightblade, good luck killing me even if I reach over and play with one hand for a second because I'm hungry and want a cookie.

Due to the changes in 1.6, with the Armor and Spell resistance, mitigation is exceedingly the best form of mitigation for damage if you're the up front brawler type, my build excels at simply walking into a zerg, blowing myself up with proximity detonation, casting clouding swarm so you can't target me, healing, rinsing, repeating, if I get low on health and magicka which does tend to happen because I don't have the cost reduction of Light Armor, I simply roll dodge away, because I can.

Heavy Armor isn't OP, it's not weak, it's not great, it's not bad, it's perfect.

I'm still pissy how they removed the melee-damage bonus from Heavy.

since day one, Heavy is the worst one off, then suddenly we got nerfed with 1.6?

    awesome. just awesome.

basically, if you want to do your job in AvA, you either go light or medium.

heavy armor is not ment to deal dmg.
the problem of heavy armor is that due to the none existance of resource problems the outlasting tank is not viable beside beeing a meatshield for the dumbest of the zerg to be target number one...
