Need help for PVP templar build

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a rut at the moment. I've come back to ESO after leaving early last year, and since then quite a bit has changed, I'm respeccing.
The problem is that I cannot figure out for the life of me what skills to run or what to put attribute points towards. I do PVPing almost exclusively, and would like to hit like a truck while managing to be sustainable as well. Currently it seems like I can't manage to find a good blend of the 2. I would like to avoid having to go full light/staff. That being said, what are some of the best skills for this playstyle? It's really driving me up the wall...I've been trying to figure this out all week and can't seem to find anything that works.

    First of all going 7/7 light is pretty much suicide for non-shield stacking scum, go at minimum 5 light 2 heavy or 5 light 1 heavy 1 medium if you have the undaunted passive for 6% stats.

    I'll tell you my bars that I'm running

    Bar 1 : Sword and shield (No particular reason just cause its what I used while they were the go to and stuck with it)
    1:Focused Charge - for gap closing, this skill has a cool down and stuns you for 1 second or more as well as the target. If you can put up with this its useful for catching sorcs.
    2:Puncturing Strikes - Been given a CC immunity but since you will have focused charged a target you will have stunned them already so still the best close range magika skill we have.
    3:Breath of Life - Healing self explanatory
    4:Inner Light - 10% more critical and more magika whats not to like?
    5:Blazing Shield - Shields are the current meta so better have one, a staple Templar skill anyway.
    Ultimate: Devouring Batswarm - I'm up close and I want to be damaging and healing good stuff. (Nova or Meteor could go in here, even Empowering Sweep would be fine)

    Bar 2 : A Staff your choice of Healing or Lightning as neither heavy attack can be reflected.
    1:Structured Entropy - 20% to next attack from the skill itself and 20% to the next attack from Might of the Guild passive and 8% more health and magika and magika regen? Yes please.
    2:Reflective Light OR Vampires Bane - Pick a stronger dot or AOE dots, Using Vampires Bane after a Entropy can get you 9k damage.
    3:Radiant Destruction - Jesus Beam. Sweet finisher. Has doubled my killing blow rate in Cyrodiil.
    4:Inner Light - 10% more critical and more magika whats not to like?
    5: I switch between Harness Magika, the shield from the Light Armour tree and Purifying Ritual. Both are extremely useful and I have a hard time deciding between them everyday.
    Ultimate: Ice Comet - Its epic. Its the best Ultimate in the game.

    For Gear
    5pc Seducers for regen, magika and cost reduction.
    2pc Tourgs Pact for some spell damage.
    4pc Healers for spell damage, magika and regen again.
    Spell cost reduction on all jewelry.
    All magika enchantments on other gear.
    Divines or Infused.
    Using the magika regen mundas stone.

    I'm sure there are more optimal builds out there but this is fun for me and does quite well in all 3 roles with a little tweaking.

    Agreed. Whoever came up with the design should be shot in the foot and only admitted to hospital when he manages to find 3 other people willing to maim themselves the same way in order to accompany him.

    Great ideas! I really like this build. Might take some ideas from it, it looks like it could be very viable in pvp. I assume you have all your attribute points in magicka?

    Just checking now Its actually 34 in health 28 in magkia I'm using. Still gets me 27k magika with food. 23k health in cyro.

    Cheers, I'll need to level some of these but it sounds like it could be very viable and suit my playstyle.
    I've been using this so far:
    5 Heavy / 2 Light, attributes mixed between health and stamina
    Dual Wield
    Bar 1 (has switched around quite a bit, but this has been my usual this week)
    1. Repentance (for regen)
    2. Toppling Charge (gap closer)
    3. Rending Slashes (sustained damage)
    4. Steel Tornado (aoe)
    5. Breath Of Life (heal)
    Ultimate: Dawnbreaker

    Bow (used almost exclusively for defending keeps / resources)
    Bar 2
    1. Reflective Light
    2. Venom Arrow
    3. Snipe
    4. Rapid Maneuver
    5. Breath Of Life (heal)
    Ultimate: Meteor

    I would say that the mixture of stamina and magika skills doesn't really work any more. Also 2handed is out performing Dual wield by a lot right now.

    So for a stamina Templar:

    Bar 1 2hand
    1 - Repentance
    2 - Critical Rush
    3 - Biting Jabs
    4 - Wrecking blow
    5 - Rally
    Ult - Flawless Dawnbreaker

    Bar 2 Bow
    1 - Repentance
    2 - Venom Arrow
    3 - Magnum Shot (This weapon swap then critical rush is a great combo)
    4 - Retreating Maneuver
    5 - Lethal Arrow
    Ult - Ice Comet

    That's a pretty good build as well. I think I killed him a few days ago though. :)
    As I'm only vr6 thus don't have access to the gear/food he's got (as well as my 2h being at a sad level 10), I think I'll attempt something like your build first. Thanks for the info, it's giving me some ideas on how to spec.

    Have you thought of swapping Inner Light with something else? Since Vampire's Bane already gives you the 10% crit buff, which does not stack with the Inner Light crit buff. That's two whole slots you can use on other spells.

    Exactly, as the poster above mentioned:
    Keep your attention on the effects your skills trigger!
    Reread the 1.6 patch notes and keep a close eye on the name of effects which give more critical, spell dmg, etc., because many skill, Set bonuses, etc. trigger the same effect and these can not be bundled, stacked!

    Many are called minor & greater buff.
    Mage guild f.e. gives you greater 20% general dmg and greater 20% Spell dmg buff on activation. See one of the posts above! Some potions also give you the same effect of 10% critical, which is also given by mage light. That is why you have to constantly check your build for "double effects" which won't work together, cause they do the same.
    So, mage guild works great for your sustainability: each time you press spell symmetry, you get 20% more dmg. Do that every few skills (hp needed, you need them anyways, cause of our class shield, for pvp: 25-30k hp needed)

The projectile is very slow so a lot of good players will dodge it initially so I wont even have the buff the first few tries. I have relatively low crit rating in 32% with my current set up, 22% if VB or Inner Light aren't active I'd rather have that extra 10% beforehand. Plus the extra magika and magika regen from Inner is too good to ignore.

    Which do you think is better: Structured Entropy or one of the Force Siphon morphs from the resto staff tree?

    I'm getting into PvE tanking at VR level and wondering which I should try first.
    Templars are 'just slower... by design'

    Vampire's Bane doesn't have to be active on an enemy for you to get the crit bonus, it doesn't matter if it gets dodged, all you have to do is cast it, and it stays active even if you swap bars. Theoretically you have no reason to slot Inner Light, let alone on both bars, if you have Vampire's Bane slotted.

    I'm just saying because you could add two additional abilities to your build like that. I don't think you should waste 2 ability slots for 5% extra max magicka and a tiny bit of regen, that is a very bad deal even if it were just one ability slot.

    Anyway, just some advice, yours to do with what you want. :)

    Force Siphon triggers off each attack you do so it triggers 4 times from a puncturing strike channel, or 3 times instantly off a crushing shock. So I just killed a troll in Craglorn and was getting 800 healing per strike from puncturing and an additional 1000 of the siphon proc even got 1400 from a few crits. Quick Siphon it probably better as its instant but I dont have numbers on the magkia return the other morph gets, it could be good for keeping magkia up in full heavy armour.
