Starting a women's guild in EU server; multifaction - interest check

Hello everyone, ladies,

I'm starting a women's guild in the EU server (I wouldn't mind also having a version of it in NA - I have alts of both servers because, timing :( ) in which anyone who identifies as female can feel free to discuss (and play - PvE + endgame, PvP, crafting) ESO, and other topics, in the safe and friendly environment of like-minded people, without having to put up with bigotry or judgments about our abilities based on our gender. It's open to all factions and levels, and to mature females.

Understand this is not about putting guys down. This is about having a shared space with other ladies.

How would I know you're of the female persuasion? I won't, not for sure anyway, but closed-group or secret-group on FB is the easiest, I think.

Leave me a PM if this is something you're interested in too. Will start it if there's a number interested.

Also, 1.6 tomorrow! Yay! :)

While I understand why you would want to do this especially if you have had a bad experience (which makes me *sigh* at my fellow male gamers) if it doesn't work out you should check out either Alith (http://alitheso.com/) or Spirit of Nirn (message @Ellieblue) on the Ebonheart Pact faction. Both are guilds that I would recommend as friendly and (reasonably) mature and both have male and female members/leaders.

Thanks for the info. I have this thing about big groups. No personal chip on my shoulder at all. People have different circles and need different spaces, and arguably, while I understand we're all human, and many adhere to humanistic principles, socialisation has made males and females different in terms of our attitudes, values, perceptions of the world, so to speak. There may be an incongruity with what we think is true and should do, and what we do because of context or just because of, well, company.

This is a generalisation; of course it is.

There are some who feel comfortable in all spaces. This guild is for those who don't, or at least want some place safe to be themselves, or like me, feel like they need a space when people are at least similar in private and in public. That dissonance disturbs me.

Also, did you just talk about other guilds in my thread when a pm would probably have sufficed? lol!

I believe the intention was good and the links were proper for your first post.

At first when i read this post, it attracted me a lot, since a female only guild would be nice to join in, but the part of like mindedness both in private and ingame does not fit with me. I don't feel i have more or less incommon with other females than I have with males - regarding minds. However I wish you all the best, and good luck with your guild. It's a nice concept and I hope it works out well.

Thanks for your comment, and for giving me, as a consequence, a chance to explain!

I don't find I'm quite like many women too, but I suspect many women (and men) feel this way. Many individuals (maybe most) think or like to think they're unique in some way, and we'd be right, I think - we're a sum of our more or less unique experiences. But we also have more in common with others than we think. At least I think so. As an example, though anecdotal, although as a disclaimer I have to say I don't quite buy into the idea we can categorize people into 16 boxes, I am almost certainly an iNTP on the mbti spectrum (and have been since I took the test many times within the last 22 years). That would arguable make me and my ilk very rare among females - 4% according to unverifiable and therefore dubious sources (lol!) - but I can see how many women share my attitudes towards certain issues, issues like sexism online, for instance.

That was what I meant by 'like-minded' - an intolerance to sexism and or other forms of bigotry, and not an allusion to how the female or male mind works, if there's even such a thing. People are people - with all our varied inclinations in terms of preferences etc., but attitudes towards issues, or the way we set about doing things, can be quite similar. That is primarily what I meant by like-minded. I'm sorry I wasn't clear before.

In terms of this guild, the idea is about supporting other females primarily in a safe environment. My post about incongruity was about people who feel they ought to behave in a certain way because of the company they are with. It disturbs me because I feel they're uncomfortable and therefore feel a need to hide/ not show who they are. That does not feel nice at all :/ I've been there, being judged for my gender. I just want people to feel comfortable. Of course, I cannot guarantee they'd feel comfortable here either. But it's at least a place/ another avenue they can try.

As for intention of the first poster, I have no doubt the intention was good. Just maybe the mode of delivery, to me, was suspect. But that's just me ;)

Anyway, I tend to post long posts. This iis one of them. Thanks for commenting, and for your well wishes.

Bosmeri roleplaying guilds are not that rare, you can either join one or createa new one. They're the shortest race of Tamriel.

OP i hope your guild turns out good :)

Thanks thanks, failkiwib16! @rune_relic this is not anti-male as in a man-hating guild. I like men, and yes, women. But some can be real pieces of work. Women too. Any individual regardless of pact can be real mean. Not everyone wants the challenge of finding out if who they're interacting with is a bigot. I'm well aware of the seeming double standards here. If a guy were to start a go-man! guild, and state it so, it'll probably draw all sorts of nasty remarks. But then you have guilds that have names that are so definitely allude to male camaraderie, so...

It's kind of interesting when you think about it, no? Fewer women have issues joining guilds that say "brotherhood of ..." (not talking about any guild in particular) but I think you'd be hard pressed to find self-proclaimed masculine guys who would join a guild with the name "sisterhood of..." People are strange.

Ahhh... I don't know. I think the reason why most people understand the existence of female-only-guilds is because things like gamergate did actually happen, that sexism is real, even in the gaming world. Argh anyway, this to-be guild welcomes female-by-gender not just women-by-sex.

I'll just leave this as is. Add or mail me in-game if you're even slightly interested. I'm nice lol! (No, really, I am.) To those who responded, thanks for at least taking the time to type some responses  and to all reading, why, hello there! Have a great day, all :)

(Incidentally I did want to start a rebel Bosmer guild but in DC so :/ lol!)

You're dead right about that lol.
Sounds like a plan to me ;)
Dont be surprised to see some male nords in wedding dresses though.

    I'm sorry, I had to.

How's the plan going, anyway? Did anyone contact you in the game? I've never felt the need to join an all-female guild, but I'm curious if there's an interest in such a community.

@Fellwitch not a troll thread. Why would you think so? Exchanges of opinions are common and welcome, and there's no name-calling or shaming here. It's all good :)

@Naor_Sarethi Molag Bal seems ok in terms of gender equality lol! He has males and females in his employ, and they all seem to be judged according to effectiveness rather than gender so I'm cool with that. The taking-over-Nirn thing, though, now that I take issue with.

@Rosveen Socionics? Yeah, I think the theories there do try to expound a bit more on the personality dynamics too. I did that one too, and I came out as ILI which is their corresponding type to the intp. Their r'ship analysis seems quite accurate, as far as the hubs and I are concerned anyway :pensive:

Even so, this idea of this guild was just a just-in-case thing, in case any one felt ... out of place. So far, I'm happy to say I haven't gotten a response :) And you know what? That's great to know. But just in case...

@Rune_Relic I expect to see a whole bunch of males wearing the wedding dresses lol!

    @Locke_ESO It's all good.

    Cheers all,

I sometimes get the feeling that ESO lacks female players. Playing other MMO's in the past, there were often 30-40% females in TS or vent, female raid leader, guild leaders, half the people online could be female. But here I'm finding myself being the only one pretty often. At best there's 1-2 more active ladies, than they quit the game.

I does feel empty not having more girls and women around. The social environment in a guild always becomes so much better with mixed genders (compared to 100% sausage fest). I also miss playing with other females, specially the ones that are good players, it's inspiring meeting accomplished female gamers.

But not sure about a cross-faction female guild, simple because I fail to see the functionality of it. I don't think it's possible to play together in any organized fashion, when in different factions. I'm sure a guild like that can function as some sort of social tool for chatting and connections, but I'm more interested in guilds that brings actual game play.

    Hello @morrignax,

I think it is a great idea! If I had an EU character, I would join you. :)

And just so you know, I am a member of a fantastic 18+ all female guild on the NA servers, Siren Song. I have been a member since not long after game launch and the guild has existed and been active since launch. I love it and have made so many excellent friends! If you'd like to join us with your NA account, please do so - we'd love to have more lovely ladies join us in PvP, Dungeons, etc.

And for the naysayers, our female guild, like I suspect is true of many other female guilds, does not exclude men from events that we do together or even from joining us on our TS servers when playing together. Many of us (myself included) have male companions or other guild members that join us in Siren Song group content regularly. We just preserve the guild membership, and thus the guild chat and leadership, exclusively for 18+ women (and we are quite content for it).

While I'm always open for new ideas, such as a women only guild, I do feel like you're kind of excluding guys because you seem to have had some judgements about your abilities based on your gender. And for that, I want to say I'm sorry for those who are like that :)

lmao @ those putting this idea down. I hadn't played eso for even two months post-launch when i was so fed up with the treatment i recieved from men that I thought about quitting. Sometimes women (or others who aren't cis dudes) just want spaces where we can hang out without worrying about where the conversation will end up. Chill.

OP, I won't mention it by name because advertising is rude, but I made a guild much like this one and it has been a marvellous experience. I hope yours is just as good! Best wishes!

I not sure why create a only females guild?

Best mix is to have both genders fifty fifty.

I not 100% on this avoid sexism its 2017 and girls are now gay and bisexual.... and have mostly same lang as guy's now days.

when you exclude a gender or a race in a group its become very dangerous as a gamemaster in other mmorpgs I seen guild chatts in woman only guilds not a nice view.
