Please Allow Alliance Ranks To Be Account Wide: Its An Even Longer Grind Than Veteran Levels

1.6 is an awesome patch, but lets be honest, it's like a whole new game. Change is good, and usually does one of two things. It either forces people to adapt to the new game, or to just say F it and leave.

Thats the big problem with changing a game, even if its for the better. 1.6 is definitely for the better, its an awesome patch. There will be a lot of players in a situation that they no longer like the class and race they chose with the new version of the game. Their only option is to create a new character. This means giving up a years worth of progress they have made on their characters. Achievements, vet ranks, alliance war ranks, etc... These all take too long to aquire to do on multiple alts unless all you do every day is play this game.

I am a very adaptable person. I love changes, and I love adapting to them. I am not one to complain, I like to give unbiased constructive feedback. I am now however one of the players in the boat of "I dont like my class and race choice anymore". I'd be willing to adapt if it didn't mean re leveling a character all over again through content ive already done. Im not willing to do this kind of grind, especially the alliance rank grind, which is probably the slowest of all.

I no longer want to play a sorcerror. For the longest time, I played as a hybrid. 1.6 has made pure min max builds significantly stronger than hybrids, and stamina sorcs are utter garbage. They get no stamina skills besides bound armor and dark channel, two abilities I never use. Im fine that the developers chose this route, but this isnt the type of class I want to play. I have been playing a stamina DK on PTS and it fits me perfectly, and I would love to play it on live. Im willing to adapt to 1.6. The only problem here is that Im not willing to waste months of my life re leveling my alliance ranks and veteran ranks in order to have abilities unlocked that my build requires.

This means my only 2 options for adaptation to 1.6 is to play a class that I no longer enjoy (maxed magicka sorcerror), or to spend the next 6 months wasting my life leveling a character in a game Ive already done this in. I enjoy the game for pvp, I have no interest in grinding veteran ranks and alliance ranks ever again.

The third choice is to quit, and unfortunately thats what a lot of players do when a game is completely changed. Even if its significantly for the better, as is 1.6. Make veteran ranks and alliance war ranks account wide. I wouldnt even mind if you sold a race change in the crown store.

I support the race change, not the class change. Changing classes is way to much, but changing race is fine. Should be added into the crown store by March 17th imho.

Imperial yes, Dunmer no. Altmer would be the best magicka race due to +10% max magicka and +9% max magicka regen. And they get 4-5% elemental damage.

People think Dunmer is the FOTM race for PvP DKs, and it isn't... Altmer's get more magicka and more magicka regen, and a boost to elemental damage, which includes fire. So if you add the max magicka boost up + elemental damage, then you probably end up with the exact same damage as a Dunmer, only boost Dunmers get that's better is the fire resist and max stamina boost.

My Hyrbid build for my main character is not really going to cut it too well anymore either. I'm not asking ZOS to give me a free Race/Class, that's ridiculous imo. If it was something we could buy then it would totally be Pay 2 Win. There aren't very many (if any) people on this forum that want P2W, so why are so many people asking for a P2W feature to be given to them for free? Just because the Flavor of the Month has changed doesn't mean anyone gets a get out of jail free card. The FoTM will change again, and again, and again. People need to be held to their choices they made in the first place. It's a good life lesson if nothing else.

Im against race change aswell, while i do understand those who want it. I was even against ZOS making us able to play any race in any faction as pre order bonus, it takes away faction pride. Id rather have them tweak racials so they all have equality through similar stat differences. As a bosmer NB archer im quite happy with mine, if stealty racial do work as intended.

    That title is worse.

These two things are character progression and should remain so. I feel that it is the reason for playing. It should never come cheaply.

You Alliance Rank derives from your build as much as your ability to participate in the game.

I'm totally against any class/race/faction changes. That just supports changing to FotM without having to work for it.

BUT I like the idea of making the alliance rank account wide, at least for the different factions or something like that (if you have 2 chars in AD they get the same alliance rank, but any EP/DC char has to level the allicance rank on his own)
Just because it takes soooo long to level these ranks.

I would love if alliance ranks were account wide. I pvp only 4 characters pretty evenly and it sucks that my pvp rank is low even though I pvp a lot.

As to character change I would not like to see this option added to the cash shop, but would like to see a new class system implemented.

Character Creation: Player selects first class.

Once the 1-50 storyline is completed the player unlocks a second class. Can switch between these classes by talking to an npc. Cost gold to switch.

When the player finishes the Coldwells Silver it unlocks a third class.

When the player finishes the Coldwells Gold it unlocks the fourth and final class.
    ===================================
    ===================================

If they wanted to go even further then allow any 3 trees to be selected from any classes known.

IE: I can have my characters 3 skill trees as Ardent Flame, Dark Magic, and Siphoning if I want and have those 3 classes unlocked.

That's the point of it lol... man people want everything on a plate these days. I think they should of made it harder at least put it to 100 with every increasing difficulty.

Alliance ranks which was inspired by DAoCs realm rank system... people played that game for 5-6 years active and still never got to the cap and still they probably would of created more if someone ever did.

Maybe because they changed entirely the game? It's not like we're asking for it everyday... unless ofcourse they would change the game everyday.

Ofcourse, faction change would be too much I believe, the changes in 1.6 doesn't affect in any way this matter.

alliance ranks should be account wide but limited to alliance. so if you have 2 characters in same alliance they have the same rank. if you have a 3rd character in a different alliance he should have his own rank.

Sadly your dilemma is a very common thing in ESO. Leveling alts through vet ranks is a grind of epic proportions.

However I don't think this is the answer. Having an instant level capped character just feels wrong.

I agree this needs to be account wide, but only for characters of the same alliance it wouldn't be fair for characters rank/points to transfer between characters on different alliances (with emp and all that)

I don't mind if they make a thousand of PvP levels and nobody will ever be able to reach max level. I just dislike the idea of "grinding" through PvP ranks with every char separately.

    I completely agree with that.

And I want to say in addition: let us not forget that CP's are also account wide, so it's not a completely ridiculous idea to have some things shared between different characters.

In the same situation as the OP though I completely disagree about 1.6 bringing any long term Value to ESO.

As my primary build/playstyle has been rendered obsolete by 1.6, I would have no choice but to play in such a way that I don't enjoy or spend months trying to get an alt to a comparable capability as I enjoy in 1.5.

I chose instead to uninstall ESO. I have enjoyed moments in this game, but not enough to trudge through the same boring content again to only wind up in the same PvP environment that has existed since launch.

As I stated in another post, the only thing ZO$ is good at is stringing players along with empty promises. Quite a few players realized this in the first several months and left, some like myself continued to hope for better, but this was the final straw for me; no more.

At some point that moment will arrive for you as well no matter how much you deny it. Maybe it will be when you realize balance is worse with 1.6, maybe it will be when your told VR levels are never actually going away, or when the game finally goes pay to win. Enjoy.

+1 for shared Alliance Rank on multiple characters (but same fraction).
The only reason that I don't like to play my Alts very often, is that I don't have Combat Frenzy unlocked. Before 1.6 it already was a really good passive, but now with the Ultimate gain change it is kinda mandatory.
And since you need almost 7 million AP to unlock Combat Frenzy, it would be good to make Alliance points and Ranks accountwide (just like Champion points, it would just be consistent).

I agree with the general opinion here. Alliance ranks should be account-wide and the max level should be raised to allow "infinite" progression. Level 100?
From a PVE point of view. unlocking abilities like caltrops on more than one character is particularly painful and this will be even more difficult with the upcoming aliance war abilities requiring up to level 10. If you want to compare this to Undaunted levels, please remember that PVP ranks take much longer to go through. (10 times more? 100 times more?)

This leaves the issue of skillpoints, which should not be available to every single character. Just because you reached PVP rank 30 with your main doesn't mean than a level 15 alt should also have access to 30 extra skillpoints.

For this, I suggest the following:
    - An account-wide AP pool that would work towards the Alliance War ranks and grant access to titles/dyes and abilities.
    - A character-wide AP pool that would work towards skillpoints.
    - The access to abilities could work with a double requirement based on both Alliance War (account-wide) and character level. The first skills of the assault/support trees would require a level 10 character (same as the access to Cyrodiil), the second ones level 20 and up to level 50 for the 5th ones (in addition to the Alliance War levels)
    - AP bars should be hidden by default to prevent overcrowding the UI and be visible from the Alliance War page as usual.

Examples: (the numbers are wrong, just giving the general idea here)
    - You have 1 character VR9 with alliance rank 20. Your global PVP rank is still 20 and get skill points and abilities as usual.
    - You have 2 characters, VR14 and VR5 but you only PVP with the VR14 and have reached alliance rank 35. Your global PVP rank becomes 35. Your VR14 gets 35 skillpoints and access to all alliance war abilities. Your VR5 gets 0 skillpoints but still has access to the alliance war abilities.
    - You have 3 characters, VR14, VR14 and 24. Your first VR14 is alliance rank 40, your second VR14 is rank 10 and your level 24 rank 2. Your global alliance rank becomes 45 (somewhere around that). Your first VR14 gets 40 skillpoints, your second VR14 10 skillpoint and your level 24 2 skilllpoints. Both VR14s can access all Support/Assault skills but the level 24 can only use the first two of each tree.

    Thoughts?

Also remember that 2 new Alliance War skills will require level 10 support/assault.

As a casual PvP'er it took me roughly 7 months to max out the Alliance War skill line on my main. So that's like half a frickin' year, to unlock a stamina based heal in 1.6, unless you live in Cyrodiil and hardcore farm AP. It's unreasonable.

Than there's the new wave of bp2'ers incoming when Tamriel Unlimited goes live. To a certain degree a less devoted and reliable player base, probably not in the mood to grind AP like it's a religion. What I suspect ZoS will do is decrease the amount of AP needed to level assault and support in the future. It's not my favourite solution, but I fear other requests and ideas will be ignored.

To be honest, I cannot muster up much sympathy for the people who do not want to level Alliance Ranks across characters. It is hard work, but currently it means something.

The first time anyone sees a Level 10 just entering Cyrodiil for the first time, as a Legate or Overlord, or even as a Captain or Colonel, the whole importance of the Alliance Rank goes out the window. The whole thing becomes a joke.

Your skill as a player is only part of the Alliance Rank. The abilities and progression of the Character are also a large part of the equation. I expect a ranked character to be able to handle the role the rank implies. If they cannot, it would be better to simply do away with Alliance Ranks and Alliance Points entirely.

If you have to grind until the keys on your keyboard wear out, that is the price you pay for having a ranked Character in Cyrodiil. If you don't want to do this, then it seems reasonable that you don't get the ranked Character.
