People complaining about shields need to seriously look at their dps.
Players are doing 4-12k single target dps. Max Hardened Ward is around 13k. Even at 4k dps, guess how long it lasts? That's right a whole 3 seconds. Guess what happens if you apply heavy dps to a shield based defense? That's right, you lock them into shield spam.
Most of the complaining I see here isn't legit. I've had no problem whatsover burning down shield users.

You just stated the whole problem yourself, and are asking people to look at their dps?
It takes 3 seconds (2-3 offensive abilities, much more resources than casting the shield) to break one shield. After that shield is gone, your opponent simply casts another shield (having thrown DPS at you during the 3-4 seconds you spend breaking their shield).
This repeats until you are out of magicka/stamina, or dead from the things thrown at you between dmg shields.
How you might consider this "balanced" is beyond me

who told you defense should cost more than offense? All I hear from you is "my dps and my sustain are really bad". I bet you're sniper built.
Sounds to me like you got beat fair and square?I think we fought yesterday; you burned down my shields while keeping your shields intact for most of the fight (I saw only a few actual damage numbers). I don't find The shield stacking direction the game is going very fun and I suspect most/all non-sorcerers feel the same way.
