Server down msg at launcher causing the repair button to come and go and play not to show

Working fine yesterday
No other use of the computer since quitting last night
Start the launcher
The server is down you may be able to start the game but will not be Able to enter the server... Etc msg is seen along with the could not load news Mage that is seen every time I quit the game.
The play button is not showing up
Wait a bit to see if it clears
The repair button shows up ... I say oh and click on it
Nothing happens and after a bit it vanishes and the server is down etc pop up window is seen. And neither the play or repair button is seen
I quit the launcher and try again
This time I just dismiss the pop up with the server is down msg and do nothing
Now the repair button shows up after a few min and then after a few min more it vanishes for a few min... This cycle repeats over and over...
Any thoughts?

✭✭Try quitting the launcher and restarting it, the Play button should be displayed again.
If the launcher insists on being troublesome, try starting the client directly, it's in
/Applications/ZeniMax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online (EU)/game_mac/pubplayerclient/eso.app0
