From the desk of a Templar Healer...

I understand that not being at VR14 might induce the temptation for everyone to point out what you're doing wrong. Everyone wants to beat the dungeon and go for the gold (pledges). Dying is not an option. I get it.

And I welcome advice. I love coming on to read about what other templar healers are doing with their builds to gain insight and inspiration for how to improve my gameplay and play paramedic in a group. I appreciate knowing my options and the reasoning behind each option on why I should choose it. I have already refined my style countless times with suggestions made by fellow guild members and awesome strangers from group dungeons.

But perhaps I speak on behalf of more templar healers out there than myself when I say: please stop TELLING us that we are using a garbage skill; that our magicka rating is too low even though it is overpowered; scoffing at our health ratings; or straight up saying that we are "doing it wrong". Telling us to go and respec at a shrine in the middle of a dungeon is just plain rude. Maybe try suggesting that we can if we would like to, and that you're more than happy to wait for us to do so. Maybe, instead of "why do you have so little magicka?" or "why are you using (insert skill in question)?", try "may I suggest you use (insert item or skill you want us to switch to)? I find it helps me deal better damage/tank better/etc." Being polite requires a bit more brainpower, but it should yield better results.

If I can refrain from making comments about how DPS might be slower than I would like or how I seem to get mobbed by adds all the time (oh hey, maybe that's why I'm dying), I feel like the rest of the group can be a bit more mindful of how they choose to "teach" me.

Thank you for reading. /end rant

Totally agreed OPm . I find it's usually the worst and most ignorant players who start bitching about somebody elses setup. You are totalluly right as wel about the favt that being polite and constructive requires more brainpower. You'd be surprised how many people are unable to do it or just can't be arsed. They also don't realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I'm a templar healer myself and I completely understand your thoughts. now when this is coming up now I want to tell something to all people who don't respect us healing your asses.

when you are in a group as dd and you aren't as good as you supposed to be, then your group will notice it but it will be manageable. but when you are the healer of the group and don't do so well then your group is screwed. I'm not telling that healers are the most important groupmembers but their performance can be seen best.

I have a dd char to, and I know it can be frustrating to constantly die because the healer is bad. but here's the good thing about this game, not only the healer can heal!!! so when you see people constantly dying in your group, talk to the healer and the other members, a templar tank has a lot healing skills, a DK can give some crazy armor boost, a healingstaff using dd can do some healing to. and everybody can pop up circle of protection or blood altar.

btw, this game is made that you have to be really bad to be bad ;)
really, I tried to make a bad build, just for fun, to see what it does. I picked all the wrong skills and armor, I was wearing what I thought was pretty (light, medium and heavy) and I still went through the content without big problems. I even grouped up for a dungeon and I (apparently) was the tank. I had never used a sword and board with the build, so luckily I had a sword and board in my inventory and I quickly bought puncture. I wasn't the best tank ever but we managed to complete the dungeon without much problems.

and one last thing, when the group is dying much, it's not always the healers fault. when you have a bad tank or a bad dd the group can die to. last week I was in a dungeon with a group and the two dd only had 1500~1800 health and were wearing light and medium armor (VR6) well they constanly died in one hit because they had not much armor and health!!!and the best thing about it was that they constantly were complaining that I had to heal more!!! well I asked the tank to look for some other dd so we left the group and searched for some other people. I hate to do that but It's really not fun to play like this. (I'm not saying I'm the best healer you can find but I consider myself a good healer  )a lot of people need to understand that SOLO PvE and GROUP PvE is something totally different. when you are alone and you have a lot of dps, you can perfectly do all the content with only 1600hp and 800 armor, but in a group fights take longer to battle , bosses slam harder and quicker.

the things I'm wrote here are for normal dungeons, so when you have problems with your build, don't try to do the veteran dungeons, do the normal ones, get used to be in a group. because in veteran mode when you're not good you will screw it up for your team mates.

I want to let you know my English isn't as good as it should be, but he, you understand me, don't you? ;)

I don't want to be a meta-gamer, but I would like my templar to not always be the first player to die in battle. I've successfully kept the rest of my group alive in a couple of dungeons, been the ONLY player to die and then been told that I suck. (Of course, when the other players have also died -- AFTER me I might add, I was still told I suck...maybe it isn't me.) How is that possible? So I feel your pain. I am doing some research to find how to respec my healer so that she is a better healer.

I have mixed experiences in dungeons, but I have never been told that I sucked (even though throughout the first couple of months in this game, I really did suck and I knew it.... but I didn't know how to improve then.)

I think if you meet a group, that you work good with, then add them to your friends list, and keep them in touch. Ask them if they are in a friendly guild they can add you to, It's a great way of avoiding to have to do dungeon runs with randoms.

I have also experienced a drop of dps in dungeons, where I had to stay back and wait for the 3 others to go and repair. As a healer, it didn't matter much that my armor and buffs were torn a little apart, but the DPS was seriously lacking against a certain boss, and the tank needed to get some armor back as well. We finished the dungeon after they repaired and came back. This has happened to me multible times, and it is fine.

If my group has lack of dps, or somebody in my group reaaaally sucks at what they do, I do point it out - although more polite and I also question them about their build etc. if it is needed, I will craft them new stuff, or give them some advice and a sweetroll. I still remember how hard it was for me, to learn how to be a somewhat good healer and play with a group.

I have also experienced, that my healer friends and guildies have asked me to step in, to help out their group, since they couldn't. And I would gather a new team for the healer, to finish the dungeon afterwards.
