What do templars use to break out of "turtle mode"?

Especially when (one of) the opponent(s) is using some kind of reflect? Using Blazing Shield/blocking can be a temporary reprieve when charged/ambushed, but what do you use for a solid interrupt/stun/knockback ?

I run 2hand/bow on a stam based build. When i get jumped, its usually breakstun, blazing shield, dodge roll (sometimes multiple times), switch to bow, magnum shot, switch to 2 hand, blazing shield, charge in and get super aggressive.

As far as a solid CC, i cant seem to find anything that will land reliably. Most my cc's get blocked or reflected. Luckily when i get jumped, the assaulter usually doesnt have reflect/unstoppable up right away.

So in a nutshell, blazing shield and dodge roll till i can get on the offensive.

That makes sense, but for a magicka build dodge rolling doesn't go far after a couple of blocks. Even without.

Blinding flashes should do the trick. The more they attack the greater the chance that they will be set off balance.

That or a good old fashioned snare should give you the ability to put some distance between the attacker. Edit: Caltrops

Good thoughts. Haven't used Flashes (or my Templar) in a long time. Definitely need to see how it works in that situation.

Blinding light is essentially worthless aside from the miss chance. And it's less cost effective than another Blazing Shield.

Spear/Luminous shards and blinding flashes are good CC.

The former can be countered by blocking, but you can most likely get them at the right time when their stamina is low.

As a temp, your charge feature can also be handy to quickly get in range to synergize.

As far as class abilities, Spear/Shards is the best option due to CC and damage. Charge isn't a bad option, but the cooldown can be make-or-break in some situations. Javelin is another option, but is high in cost and since it is only a single CC, it may not be useful. Blinding Light/Flashes is broken, see link above, and since I wrote up the initial post on that, I'm not going to bother getting into it.

Outside class skills, the charges from 2hand and s/s are good options for either high damage (2hand) or CC (s/s). Volcanic Rune is a great choice as well, but most players in PvP can see that coming from a mile away. Magnum Shot morph from in the bow skill line is probably the best option for getting some distance/CC.

Blazing Spear's DoT (+ Burning Light) is a pretty good way to force enemies out of an area, plus it's a non-reflectable CC (that doesn't lock out further CCs for its duration...).

You could also use Eclipse if they aren't using Immovable, works well on DKs as it lets you counter their reflect; and many people don't realise it reflects melee spells too.

I personally wouldn't bother with Binding Javelin, it costs too much for too little gain (most people will CC break immediately so the longer duration over Blazing Spear rarely comes into play).

Hmm, I use DW... so BS and then blood craze the hell out of them (heals me a bit, makes bleeding dmg, cost near to nothing if stam build - even AFTER break free)... gets me to aggro as soon as weapon swap worked ;-)

If they retreat (happens when a templar lights up like a christmas tree) change to bow again ...
