Pulsar/Fiery Ring, I think it needs to be redesigned.

    PVP is just one aspect of the game. If they nerf impulse (again) PVE players will greatly suffer.

    Instead of calling for nerf, why not ask for other class/skill improvement?

    you do realise trials are done by trials runs to? but what if only one skill is a high requirement ability for both PVP and PVE... doesnt that in itself make it overpowered?

    Impulse spam as it stands is a top damage dealer in most places. it can deal as much as 1 target abilities. for an AoE that has a 12foot circle range. thats rather unbalanced. melee have no 12 foot circle damage abilities that hit as hard as single target abilities (whirlwind could come close but it's real damage only happens on low health and costs a crap ton of stamina.)

    Bring more siege or stealth to avoid the zerg. A tight group is a perfect target for catapults. Unfortunately, one or two won't do, as they are easily overrun by the zerg.

    So... BUFF CATAPULT FIRING RATE!

    its a tough situation. you cant nerf this skill to oblivion, destrouction staff users would suffer in PvE for it. they should do what others have suggested: increase the cost, add a cast time, whatever works, but we cant just make it useless.

    Noone is asking ZOS to make the skill useless. What would be the point of that? Tweak it so its in line with other AOEs - volley, whirlwind, etc.

    So I leveled a Templar recently and after I got Blazing Spear I began to regret investing in the Destruction staff, reason being it cost the exact same amount of magicka, does similar damage up front, DoT from Blazing hits harder and it can also proc a passive for even more damage if you compare it to Elemental Ring, an incredible tool for AoE grinding and it's ranged unlike Impulse. Nerfing Impulse is not an option with Blazing Spear in the game, even if it's exclusive to Templars.

    Blazing spear is a targeted ground AoE spell. It is not really comparable to Impulse/Ring. You can't spam spear, you can't spam spear while blocking. Spear has a delay from the time it is cast and the time it hits, and the DoT only applies if you are dumb enough to stand in it.

    Meatbag catapults do a great job against Impulse blobs.

    We all know spell resistance doesn't work.     The reason that Templars suck when using pulsar lies simply in the missing class passives that buff that sort of magic a destru staff does.
    Blazing spear is nice but it only works fine because of many nuubs staying in it.

    Impulse need a cast time of 0.8 seconds or so where you cannot move faster than the cast time for snipe and can be interrupted.

    I agree with the OP that the biggest problem is that impulse take the skill out of the game and make all other types of combat which take a lot more skill and planning redundant.

    They should not nerf the damage but they really should make it much more difficult to use. The impulse user should plan to get in a spot and then be able to cast it before he in interrupted then the massive aoe damage is ok.

    Overall it would have been a better balance if all ranged attacks prevented you from moving while using them, only melee should have full mobility while fighting.

    You do realise that most of the poblems with impulse are caused by the fact that sharpened trait on 2h weapons is broken and bypasses 100% spell resistance, right? Thats why impulse hits like for 300 non crit even to non vamps. This issue has been around since the release and nothing's been done about it. This a serious and annoying exploit yet zos chooses to ignore it.

    Will not talk about PvP, but in PvE pulsar is totaly OP. If you have magika la build, you don't need do think as pulsar burns everything and the only problem is that you earn XP and level faster then you do quests and so you are allways overleveled.

    Impulse clearly makes the game more accessible, especially to those who haven't mastered the use of both hands utilizing their keyboard and mouse. Or better still, those who've mastered the art of keyboarding with their face.

    You know a skill is BROKEN as all hell when you can drop your Storm Atronach Ultimate on a Boss critter, then go over once it's dead and kill a group of 3-4 lvl 46 Daedra and half more than enough Ultimate to use it again. In about a minute and change.

    If I would've taken Vampire on my sorcerer, I could spam Devouring Swarm aaaaaaall throughout a delve/dungeon/public dungeon. I was never able to do ANYTHING even remotely close while I was leveling up my Vampire Nightblade.

    Sorc Broken Ulti Gain + Ridiculous DMG output from Impulse + Cheap Ultimate = Broken, OP, Ridiculousness.

    Yet Vampire is clearly the problem with the game and everyone needs Vampire to be competent and competitive. I'm doing the same thing without Vampire, with slightly less solo-survivability because I forewent that option.


    When in actuality all you need is to:
    A) Be a Sorcerer
    2) wear 5 pieces of light armor with the right set bonuses
    Red) wave a destro staff of your choice in flavor

    And BOOM!!!!, you too can be throwing Ultimates out in every direction like they're regular attacks.

    To skirt+stick or not to skirt+stick....
