1.3.0 Armor and Weapon Sets

The Soul Shine (heavy armor) set bonus was nurfed from +20% dmg/heals to just sth. like +10% (25 power).
This wasn't necessary, it was a green set and a great opportunity for casuals to be at least a little bit competitive. Now, they take it away...
    (healer nurf)

If your spell damage is at an ubuffed 91 at vr12 then it is actually more than a 20%buff.

the 5 peice gives you 7 spell damage and the 5 piece 22 spell power[are these the same??].

20% of 98 spell damage is 19.6 so 22 is slightly higher than a 20% buff.

He means actual damage dealt, not the spell damage rating :).

Still looks like there are no armor traits on the vet dungeon sets. Or am I missing something here?

Trials are not the best place to compare DPS values of magicka and stamina builds. All bosses are immune to bleed, and some punishes melee attackers so hard. Moreover, stamina builds has only 1 decent DoT which is Blood Craze which is useless in most cases. +resource management ,oh god no need to say anything.

And don't you think the idea should be like melee builds should have better DPS because ranged builds have more utility and it is safe to play ranged? I am not referring to stamina or magicka but since most stamina builds are melee and most magicka builds are ranged you can also think like that. It is ranged vs. melee issue.

The Soul Shine set was an affordable way for any templar to get a basic heal with ~ +200 points, combined with many other synergies a very nice way to push templar healing. I'll not comment on numbers, cause I was still testing..
And the Set was for everyone, making it very interesting for some builds using casting-times, or especially templars, given that most templar heals got the bonus +heal

Balancing the game does. Stop focusing on one small minor change to the game and look at the game as a whole.

I never have. I have only asked you to stop assuming that one chosen minor change is the end of the world and ruining the game.
    I never said those words.

So I guess we're in agreement. The nerf to spell crit is not the optimal way to balance magicka and stamina, so it should be reverted. Great!

Now you are putting words in my mouth so to speak. I never said you said it was the end of the world and ruining the game. But you are clearly acting like it is.

Are you all honestly trying to say that you have no problems with light armor magicka builds soloing Craglorn and Trial content, and infact that you want any class/build/armor type to be able to do the same
    Trash is not content.

Note the "and trial content" be it trash or bosses in the trials, either should not be solo-able.
It's inconsequential, it doesn't matter if it's soloable or not. And I haven't seen a Trials "look what I can do" video in a month.

    umm...

https://youtube.com/watch?v=jetMNZiokes Nightblade in light armor - Posted July 6th...that is like a week ago, not a month.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=vS8PdiocgJQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS8PdiocgJQ Sorcerer in light armor...3 weeks...so I guess we can give you in a month.

For DKs, yeah, crap tons of "look what I can do" videos right around the month range. Not sure if people stopped posting them because they can't do it anymore, or if it is because there are so many of them that everyone knows that DKs can solo it. Templar videos are the only ones I cannot seem to find.

Either way, no class should be able to do such a thing just by equipping a dress, but right now they can. Something had to be done, and these changes are one of the things Zenimax is doing to fix it.

    You're quite right.

They had time to do yet another nerf to these sets (and a buff) to these sets, yet still didn't bother to fix that glaring bug making them ever weaker.

Overall they are going at least to be worth using 1 per trial again tat least though.

Maybe it is like that intentionally.

One thing helping them hold to their word of "crafters will make the best gear" is dropped sets having some kind of flaw with them. Like not being able to change the enchant, or a crappy trait or no trait at all.

Looks like being able to mix and match 2,3 and 4 pieces of different crafted armor sets will really provide HUGE benefit, especially if stats like Magicka Regen stack.

Brunhilda Icehammer - Nord Dragonknight, 'Smith & Enchantress 'What is 'ranged? I need to hit something!!'
Laehl Direthorn - Bosmer Nightblade, Purveyor of fine Clothes, Bows and Staves
Reeza gra-Zuni - Orc Templar 'War Shaman' and Apothecary
Noemi Snowpaw - Kajiit Dragon Knight - I laugh... or I'd have to kill you.
Kitera Dreamon - Breton of The Dominion: Because those Daggers don't appreciate a great Mage.
Lysara Shadowcroft - Dunmer Bloodmage: This will only hurt a lot.

Wow, so... say goodbye to 3x3 set bonuses that were actually good. :(

Do they have to turn everything into junk? At this rate, I'd rather they change nothing than keep nerfing everything into the ground.

All they had to do was make two handed weapons count for 2 of a set. Which there's no mention of, so not even that is fixed, and the new "featured" content (crafted set bonuses) will be worse in every way because I need 5 of something now to get what I only needed 3 of in the past. Great job! Not!

It's not really difficult to figure out now that there are so few offensive spell sets.

Jewlery with +13 spell damage will be a common factor for any such set, so they'll all have at least +39.

If you're talking about only crafted gear, then the most you'll get in addition to that is +14 from combining any two of Lamae, Magnus, and Torug's pact. If you're dual wielding for some reason on a spell power build, then you can get all three for +21.

If you're talking about any gear, then it looks like 4 Aether and 4 Martial Knowledge is best, giving +22.

Sorcerors doing a spell crit build are going to have fun! I'm very grateful for people posting up stuff by the way - thank you!

    Soulshine (3 items = +4% Crit)
    Night Mother (3 items = +4% Crit)
Wise Mage Set (3 items = +8% Crit)

SO a plus16% crit for acheiving this set up - I predict that the trials are going to be very popular!

Play around with the extra item with obvious choices being a 4th Wise Mage set for the +8 SPell Damage or Night Mother for the extra Weapon Crit...

I disagree. Trial are challenging PvE, and for those who like challenges, as well as playing as a member of a larger team, the trials format is excellent fun. The runs are repeatable and rewarding, even if there are some design flaws. Getting faster and faster times, and having a leaders board, is appealing to many types of players.

While it's unfortunate that not everyone has the social skills necessary to be a team player, I'm happy to see that some of the more prestigious and powerful gear sets are reserved for those willing to commit to this format.

If you aren't quite ready yet, or have been debating whether to participate, I'd encourage you to try it. Don't expect to succeed at first, unless you are lucky enough to get invited into an experienced guild. Expect to make adjustments to your game play in order to succeed. Expect that some players will not function well in a team environment. Overcome these obstacles and you will be rewarded with success in the trials format.
