Extraction rates

Hi,

I would like to share my thoughts and find out if is just bad luck, or actually there is a bug in game introduced since 1.2.3

Blacksmithing. I have skill level 50, Metalworking 9/9 and Metal Extraction 3/3
For every 100 ore stack, I get almost 90% of the time, 1 alloy, 2-3 solvents, 1-2 Dwarven oil and 3-5 Honing stones.

No issue here. (I do around a batch of 500).

Clothing. As above. Same skill level, crafting and extraction skill points.

Before 1.2.3 I was getting very rarely a gold mats, but had a 1 purple and greens. Some blues also. But rarely those.

Post 1.2.3 per 100 Superb and Shadow leather or void flower stacks. I will rarely get more than 3 Hemming. No blues or purple-glold.

And since 1.2.3 I have refined around 1500 void flowers and around 500 leathers. (in 3 sessions on different days)

I got the total of ~20 hemming and nothing else.

Does anyone else has such issues?

No I'm on 1 extraction for clothing and blacksmithing and I'm still getting an occasional blue post patch from extraction. I think it is just RNG

Someone raised the issue of diminishing returns on the improvements from doing large extractions within a short period of time of each other. Not sure if that is true but I only ever extract around 50 at most at any one time.

I'm maxed for woodworking, and I feel like I've been getting less purples and no golds lately. No numbers, will try to get some soon.

Maybe a nurf to purple/gold drops, but maybe not.

I don't think I got a single alloy from extraction yet. All tge ones I have come from hirelings... RNG is a fickle mistress.

Refining rates have been "adjusted" (nerfed) with every major patch and/or at least four times since head start.

    Don't believe me?

I challenge any Zenimax employee that reads this to correct me, if I'm wrong.

The return rate for Legendary boosters used to be 3% around patch 1.1.x.
It's now far less than 1%. Enjoy your subscription time! It's now been extended artificially so you can chase that carrot around the skinner box just a -little- bit longer. ;)

    I refined tonight. 200 Mahogany, 540 Nightwood.

With skill level 50, 9/9 woodworking, extraction 3/3 I got.

    5 Mastic, 7 Turpen, 9 pitch.

While refining 50 Voidstone I got.
    2 Solvents, 2 dwarven oil!!!!!

    To elaborate...

I've refined well over 1000 of each (voidstone, voidbloom, nightwood) since patch 1.2.3.

    Zero legendary boosters. Super! :|
Good work on yet another stealth nerf, Zenimax. I'm sure this will increase subscriber retention tenfold. NOT.

I would like to know the new rates, but I don't necessarily view it as a bad thing. ZOS is probably trying to make the economy more active, and if it works I'll be happy. Plus, because I'm not basing my sub status on a temper quota, so this change does nothing to change it
Lighten up ladies and gents, its a game.

I get lots of blue and greens when I extract - while I wear a full intricate outfit + weapons, if I don't do that, then I will rarely get anything other than the main material ....e.g. Raw Jute will only give me Jute, rarely Hemming or other things.

However, whenever I do wear a full intricate outfit + weapons, then I get about the same good loot from iron ore as I get from quicksilver ore. The only difference here will be the main material e.g. iron v/s quicksilver ore.

(edit) I have maxed skillpoints in everything exept hirelings and keen eye. I only have 1 hireling for Enchanting on an alt, to be able to get lower level potency runes.

I believe intricate items are giving extra xp when you salvage them, not when you wear them. And have no other effect, hypothetically.

Deconstruct those Intricate items. They boost XP when you deconstruct them not if you wear them. ;)

@failkiwib16_ESO‌ is not the first I have known to wear a full intricate outfit to boost the inspiration gained from destructing other items, I laughed at the other one too, but you know, perhaps they have a point...
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

Yet I gain so little extra materials from deconstructing and refining without the intricate, and I gain a lot when I do.

After refining tens of thousands of ore, wood and cloth in my time playing, I'm pretty sure it's all just RNG. 10 iron ore can give me a tempering alloy (happened yesterday) but 500 voidstone ore doesn't give a single one.

It's just random. Currently I'm getting a lot less rosin than the other two but that's just my perception.
V14 Templar Argonian Healer, V12 DK Orc Tank, V2 Sorcerer High Elf DPS, V1 Templar Breton DPS, V1 Nightblade Bosmer DPS, and 3 low levels.

Too small of a sample size unless you're refining thousands and keeping careful track of you're rates. Intricate gives you more decon xp, that's all.

Yes. I had 7/7 Medium armour on my alt, all with intricate. And got the same xp with and without it by salvaging any level of items.

Intricate items give only xp bonus when you salvage them, not when you wear them.

Interesting bit of lore there.. since it has caused me a bit of consternation to hear both "thank the eight" and "thank the nine" from NPCs in the game itself.

Makes me wonder if some of the devs have been partaking of a time traveling drug.

    Continuity errors ftl?

RNG is a cold hearted Beyoch and sometimes she takes a giant stinky dump on you, other times she showers you with roses. The issue I see with the OP and the responses is your very low batch examples. To get an accurate drop % you'd need to burn through 5000-10,000 raw materials at least, the more the better. Batches of 100, 500 even 1000 are much too small to get true accuracy.

I agree with @DeLindsay, which is why I think that the only way we're going to get any meaningful numbers about this is by pooling our findings together.

I've extracted several batches on my crafter. She has 3/3 for extractions on all the hard crafts. Here is what I got.
    Blacksmithing:
    320 mats > 6 honning, 3 oil, 5 solvent, 0 alloy
    Clothing:
    470 mats > 11 hemming, 5 embroidery, 4 lining, 0 wax
    300 mats > 5 hemming, 5 embroidery, 1 lining, 0 wax
    Woodworking:
    230 mats > 4 pitch, 3 turpen, 2 mastic, 0 rosin
    50 mats > 3 pitch, 2 turpen, 0 mastic, 0 rosin

If you record what you get from deconstructing, post it here, I will add it to my data sheet. The three things I need are: (1) Your points in extractions (1, 2 or 3) (2) How many mats you started with (3) How many tempers did you get out?

    Lets Science, folks.
