Do players deserve a vote on arenas?

I spoke to some people from Blue Byte several years ago and asked them how they value player feedback and if it makes sense to have players "develop" the game with them.

Their response was pretty basic and cold, they said that players often ask for things that are not very realistic based on what can be done with an engine and a game code.
While they cared about hearing feedback, 99% was not doable due the limitations either financial or technical.

The same answer we would get by the Dev´s at ZO. While we all have good idea´s, most of these things are just not very realistic.

Just look at housing. Housing is incredible hard to code, especially if the engine wasn't designed for it at first. Look at Skyrim with the "box system". You are limited by the engine and therefore you can not make any type of house, but many similar ones.

ESO doesn't even have that type of housing feature yet, yet we all already make plans how we want to decorate our new home ;)

Arena is a bit further than housing right now, but I honestly doubt that a fair and competitive Arena system like we would need it (a system that doesn't destroy world pvp, that doesn't force you to Arena, that is balanced for solo & groups....) is doable right now.

While the community representatives said that they want to know what we think about Arena, getting an Arena / not getting one is not based on what we think alone, but based on what is possible and lucrative.

Keep in mind, ESO is about the Elder Scrolls which means that the original game isn't about competition or rankings and small scale environments, but adventuring and this matters a lot and ZO has three things to consider for new content.

Do we have the financial abilities to design such a big content update (housing, Arena, crime system, NPC guild are all considerations right now ...), how could the content look like on our engine does what we want fit to what we can do and last but not least, does our community want such a feature most (if money & men power are limited they must decide what comes first).

What the OP right now wants is starting at the tail of the snake, but you must start at the head first and that's always money, money & time ;)

Arena isn't the only thing people would like to see, I am not here to judge if its the least or most requested feature, but in the end this is the tail of the snake and the Devs need to start at the head and this is money, men power and how.

People only deserve to vote on polls where you can be kept ananomous.... for starters that is.... this thread here is a troll and should be locked down, but that is just my 5cents.

Any decision ZOS makes should be made because it's good for the game, not because of a majority vote.

you make it part of the launcher, so they have to vote before the "play" button lights up

I would hate such thing. I don't like to be forced to vote on something just to be able to log on to the game.

And if the vote would be about some feature that you don't have any opinion about it, people would just vote something random to get into game, so the data gathered wouldn't be accurate anyway.

    Yes
.... thats why you have a "yes" "no" and "i dont care" option on the poll

oh wow that issue was tough to solve lol

and rofl at the guy who wishes public polls to be kept anonymous and this one to be locked. you chose to vote on a public poll, nobody forced you haha

Players gave us VR levels, players got templars crippled pre-launch, players got the api gutted, players got game development time devoted to a smoother (and completely useless) first person mode, players brought on the enforcing of aoe caps with their incessant whining, players are trying to get Dks and Sorcs nerfed into the ground (where the classes aren't what needs fixing) , players ate my disagree button... I really could go on.

The only thing players "deserve" is probably a kick in the <insert body part here>.

I agree with this sentiment. Look around you when you are playing next time, do you really want those folks voting on anything?

Sure we do. Otherwise we'll just continue to vote with our feet and wallets, anyways.

    Greetings Warriors,

I just had to look at this thread...needed some comic relief today...but I did learn some things:

#1 - I am not the only player that's hoping for systems that support small group and solo player action.

#2 - There WAS a disagree button!!! OMG BRING IT BACK !!!

But yeah, forum polls are useless...and...for a company to produce an official poll asking/listing/ranking what features people want creates a whole can of especially nasty worms, the label on that can is two words "false expectations".

    Anyway, thanks for the laughs...

    Good Hunting,

I can assure you that an official vote on the launcher would not favor arenas. If they can't even win a poll on the PvP forums which should mainly be looked at by PvPers they will surely lose when the strict PvE people vote on it.

Rather want to see those players/guilds that openly has been exploiting for their own gain punished to the ground.... eg. deleting all their characters making them have to start over.

I wish people would actually read the label before purchasing something. No where in any advertised publication has ZOS stated they developed this game to at some point have arenas. Why anyone would purchase this game thinking they would sometime soon have arenas is beyond me. IMO, if AvAvA was a total bomb, then ZOS would add arenas. Til then, Im hoping they stick to their guns and provide and continue to develope AvAvA in a way never before experienced.

Please do not take what one dev said out of context. If the player base wanted arenas (i.e. if NOBODY liked the AvAvA system), they'd consider it. As stated numerous times, they will not implement anything that takes away from AvAvA. Ax3 is massive and should be. That's why all the most populated campaigns are the most fun.
