    while i like the idea of npc armies, i loathe the idea of them being controlled by players. its random or nothing if it happens.

    The NPC you control has as much power as you do or how well you train or equip them. Thus, if the AI of these NPCs are a lot better and DPS they can dish out is capped then it is a wouldn't this be a great feature to add to alliance war.

    You'll could finally have the end game of raising your own army to fight the enemy.

    Man if you are asking for an RTS game based on Tamriel lore... i think its a kickass idea.

    Just not here lol.

    I doubt it will be really hard to make Alliance war more RTS like. All you need is smart NPCs that does some fighting or maneuvering for you

    Only problem with this thread is you need to buff seige weapons power massively. Else you would have an army of DOOM and no way to resist.

    Kills NPCs instead of players.

    I guess WoW never has or did require skill then. Or any other video game for that matter. And who said you are only killing NPCs?

    BTW most NPCs AI's are "smarter" then most randoms in Cyrodiil...

    Alas the full implementation of the OP would be a disaster coding wise for ZeniMax and probably would never happen in that scale without redoing the game/servers.

    Considering how many randoms seem to think that fighting NPCs equates to PvP, you might sadly be accurate with this statement.

    @Samadhi‌

    I was referring to combat: NPCs are generally better in combat (when not bugged) then many players. I "fear" a NPC more if you will then most players.

    @Kirsika‌

    PvP doesn't mean PvP (as you think it does): If two player controled NPC armies are fighting each other... this is also PvP. Else you would be claiming that Total War series IS NOT a PvP game (when online).

    And it does prove something. People who don't like "PvE" as you put it in your "PvP" (such as yourself) appearently havent' learned how to properly handle these "PvE" situations yet or you wouldn't care about their existance in Cyrodiil either way.

    Thus,

    The guard NPCs have high stats but exhibit little to no combat capability otherwise.
    There is nothing interesting about fighting an unthinking NPC that does not respond to the situation.

    But hey, if you fear and find challenge in fighting NPCs, have fun.

    I still prefer fighting other players though. I go to the PvP map for PvP.

    WEll I could say the same about 95% or more of the (original) playbase myself. With NPCs I know that if I I don't do certain things in time I will wipe. With players... they may just stand there not knowing how to counter you.

    Yes killing players "is more fun" but that doesn't mean all players have "functioning brains" either...

    Picking on newbs is about as low on the interest ladder as fighting NPCs.

    95% is also about the same % of the population that zergs guard NPCs all day.

    Players that spend all their Cyrodiil time zerging NPCs are still PvP newbs, sad but true.

    Adding NPC armies that you can command, I believe is the next step of PvP in MMORPG games.

    It is even better when you can train them and improve their skills and damage, you could even get them to learn formations. Think of FF tactics but in real time; the possibilities are endless. Compared to the generic PvP that we have at the moment.

    hmm.......... well, idk what I think about this actually. I don't hate it, like all these other people seem to, im open to change, and open to trying new things. Idk about 1000s of NPCs on the map, this is PvP after all, not PVNPC, but I myself do kinda like the idea of having your own personal upgradable NPC merc, BUT merc spamming kinda ruined ALOT of ppls opinions towards NPCs in cyrodill(merc spamming was pretty bad) not to mention the NPCs we have now are just OP. the NPC mages do ridiculous amounts of damage(I saw a pic of one doing 3028 damage), its impossible to sneak by NPCs EXCEPT if you use shadow cloak(even then it does not work half the time) they are buggy, and if you pull them too much, they do that crap where they retreat back to their small area post and instantly heal, and you cant just not pull them, because, again, they are OP as heck. im not even sure a VR12 with legendary gear could stand up to one right now. maybe after some time has passed if the NPCs get improved, ppl may be more open to this idea.. oh, and I was talking about guard NPC, not the "regular" NPCs

    NPCs in pvp are there so someone can spawn somewhere without being ganked and farmed from where they can spawn from. also gives players a catch thier breath zone. im not saying this is a stupid idea i actually like it but not for pvp. make it a PVE/PVP zone a place where both sides can actually enjoy something. theres plenty of map lets make some areas where you can level your squad and take out other players squads where you can use tactics with more then just your player and other players. IDK if you people know this but in the dark ages armies didnt attack eachother by just mobbing up and running at something there were calvary artillary infantry archer infantry. and all of this would make sense in a ESO gameplay where you choose ok i want to command a artillary squad so i can take down a keep while the infantry squad players defend me and the calvary squads to charge the enemy keeps courtyard when the wall goes down. it makes for a much more exciting game with still allowing the need for other players.
