Honestly, the answer is not to worry about what other people are doing and play as you want, as long as you're having fun, really isn't that what matters most? It's a game after all.

until you hit VR content and end game

    *Blinks*
You're not allowed to do what you want and have fun in VR content/end-game?

I have yet to hear of someone getting to vet content and being able to continue with their 2H weapon much longer due to the difficulty of the content. You CANNOT SURVIVE. Is dying every pull going to be fun for anyone just because you're playing with the build you want?

When content becomes so difficult for MOST builds that it becomes unbearable, that's bottle necking people in to builds that they can progress with. I dont care how much you love your build, if you cannot progress, you won't be happy.

I have heard this also but I am not sure that I necessarily agree with it.

The guys I see using 2 handed are spammers who just spam attack, attack, attack, attack... and everything dies in no time.

As a Sword and Boarder, I have had to learn to slow the pace down and actually block, once in a while. Perhaps if the guys that are used to killing everything in 4 seconds would learn to block once in a while they might survive. Just a thought.

I am assuming you have not watched a sorc run in and not even spamming that much kill entire areas, even in vet zones

There are certain builds that kick ass but if you want to play your way then you can. I played a Sorc with a bow till VR5. That doesnt mean that you can use any abilities and expect them to work well. PvE and PvP are more forgiving than VR group dungeons though. You better have a good build to go there.

like the people who constantly quote it, I wish this phrase would die. It's never been that way in any MMO ever, not will it. It's just marketing speak and foolish consumers eating it up.

I guess I'm the first one you'll hear of.

I did worse. I was Sword and Board until late VR content, when I added 2H. I don't die every pull (heck, it takes lag to kill me) AND I take down trolls, gargoyles, mammoths...

Well, false marketing is actually illegal... at least where I am at. And since this was marketed mainly as an Elder Scrolls game, but online so one could adventure with ones buds. No Elder Scrolls game has pigeonholed you into a certain build to be effective and get through content at an acceptable pace.

"Play as you want" and still be good, unless its a completely *** way that is, is a mainstay of TES and should be in ESO as well.
I can understand that certain skills are better used at various points, but when light armor and staffs are so widely more effective it gets slightly odd.

Stamina skill specced classes can join any dungeon they want. As long as they know they are some kind of "leechers or weak spot in the armor" and the group are extremly friendly and prepared to work alot harder to finish the dungeon.
As a casual solo player this wont happen.
    Balance ftw
