Any melee channel spell is useless endgame, If your in melee range, you need to block a lot. Channel = no blocking = Dead.

Melee range instances are the only real option, still its a nice skill and nice for solo leveling, so I am not complaining, it will have its uses, but not in boss tanking in groups.

Should also apply a Block with one of the morphs, so tanks can use this spell.

Puncturing sweep should definitely go more to the Tank side of things. This is how I see that they could change it to serve multiple purposes:

Change Puncturing Sweep to: Instant cast, lower the cost, cut the damage in 1/2, then stack the damage into a single forward arc AoE, rather than a channel. Allow it to restore Health *and Stamina* equal to 50% of the damage caused (buff to Stam builds).

For tanks, this would allow continual blocking, give more use to Stamina based tanking skills, and allow for more Magicka so a tank could use a DPS skill or two.

For Stamina based DPS, this skill would be rather attractive as well.

For Magicka based DPS, this skill would become less attractive, but still somewhat useful for soloing, etc.

For a Resto staff user, this would be a throw away skill.

P.S. Thanks for the new Stamina based build videos. I threw you a like on each one. BTW, it was rather interesting to note that the only build that died in your videos was the Heavy armor 1H / Shield build (!!)

This is a pvp use skill mainly. Templars at vr10 just dont use puncturing or biting jabs because it channels and there are better skills. They need to add debuffs to skills or a passive that has debuffs and strengthen the debuff and heal trees to be unique to resto and to provide more utility than resto. Spear Shards needs to be reworked as well.

Wow, I've been doing it wrong. I didn't even realize you could maintain a block indefinitely, while dishing out instants. I believe my survivability vs. mobs has just improved significantly.

It's good for your melee/tanking build. But most templars have been forced to go staff light just to get some dps but its a start. (will cost 27k to try it when it goes live tho) and most likely will be nerfed as anything even a little good on the templar has been.

I think this all boils down to how your playing your toon. If your playing as a tank, your not going to do much DPS, your playing as a healer, you won't do much dps either...

If your playing as a two hander, or a dual wield, you'll have better DPS, or even in medium armor you'll do more damage... I'm not sure why everyone is expecting the templars to be a dps type of toon...

I gotta say this is stupid seems how a lot of templars were always complaining about sorcs with critsurge doing damage and healing but they only get 65% of the damage done as a heal and it is only for crits as for this templar skill is a damaging skill itself not needing a buff before hand to drain it's resource and it will always heal you for 60% reguardless of a crit or not I see many complaints coming for this skill and don't get me wrong I don't hate it myself I am just commenting on this from what I have seen through forums since the beginning. So it is just my thoughts on what will happen.

Correction: It heals 40% based on damage done, melee range and is very expensive. Also 1.1s channel. Many players will still pick Biting Jabs over this one.
