I can tell you: Purple vet 5 recipes. Never seen one in the chat. Sometimes have the feeling they don't exist. A friend of mine was lucky and bought one of somebody for 200k. So yeah any vet 5 purple recipe is the rarest item in this game.

And Lol to all the other remarks

I hear a lot about the rarity of tomatoes. Having never seen one in-game my vote goes to them. There's a lot to be said about a game that makes a tomato a rare find.

Tomatoes and Oats only come from hireling mails with 2 or more points in the skill.

I found a nectarine today, first one I ever saw. In Daggerfall, on a lvl 12.

Well all I can do is tip my cowl to you provisioners. Obviously the problems the whiny NB's have are nothing compared to the frustrations you're going through. I was going to start my V4 Sorc working on that craft but after reading this post there ain't no way.

For gear sets, I would say the Armor of Truth and the other sets that come from that random AP reward are the most rare as it costs a lot of AP to get the chest and no guarantee of even getting a set piece.

I hadn't heard of the Armor of Truth either. I googled it and it's bona fide. Looks like a good set too.

How about the NB provisioners? Those purple recipes are starting to seem like a myth or urban legend.

Looked up the armour of truth, kinda cool I guess.

Curious, are all of these sets available at vr12?

Tangerine and tomato are rare, but I'd certainly accumulated a lot back before I realized I'd never use any.

I'd say the rarest thing is whatever critter collectibles are referred to in the Achievements. I've never seen one. I've never heard of anyone seeing one. I got pretty excited when that baby wasp starts following you around occasionally after killing some wasps (still don't know what that's all about). "Banekin horn," for example.

I've also only seen two "Lire" and "Jaedi" runes, but those seem to be a mistaken inclusion.

It's not just v5 purple recipes, it's ANY purple recipe above lvl 35.

I have a 45 and a 50 (one food, one drink), but I got both in the first 2 weeks, before they drastically altered the loot tables. The only person I know of who has the V5 purple food got it at early release, when the loot tables dropped them in newb areas. I have never seen one for sale after the first 2 weeks, though I've heard stories....like legends.

Then, for those who do have them, the mats only come from a hireling 3/3. So be prepared to grind at least 3 character up to 50 provisioning (all 8 would be better, lol!), because your hireling will mostly bring you grapes, hops salt, garlic, onions, canis root, snowberries and ther things you can loot for yourself in 10 minutes of looking. Plus, with push (12 hour required log-in to get hireling stuff), you'll miss 1/3 of your deliveries.
So, you might get 2 tomatoes and 2 oats per week, enough to make a whole 8 to 16 epic foods a week (since epic drinks/drinks in general are useless).

So yes, provisioning purple FOOD recipes and their mats are by FAR the rarest thing in the game. And yes, I've heard people offering a million gold. A MILLION GOLD for a V5 food recipe. That...is...broken!

Other than that, i dont know.

It always puzzled me why the Imperial motif sold for such high prices when Imperial edition players can convent their gear to Imperial motif at will.

I think it's because the items you can convert to Imperial (which isn't all items) can't be traded.

The only players you would be trading Imperial motif gear to are the regular edition players. I think Imperial edition players still outnumber the regular edition players. Certainly IE did outnumber the regulars at launch if the white stallions mounts in the low level zones was any indication.

Well I'm not where I can get in game to check, but I don't think you can convert to Imperial on characters that aren't Imperial race, even if they're on an IE account. Apologies if I'm wrong. I only have one Imperial out of 7 characters myself.

I'm imperial edition, and yes you can. My Kajit NBis currently wearing converted Imperial armor, because I crafted her Orc style just to try it out, and hated it.

So yes, Imperial edition players, all races all characters and all levels can be converted to Imperial style. I have found a few items that wouldn't convert, all unique quest rewards. As far as I am able to tell, all crafted and dropped items, and most quest rewards, can be converted.

Thanks for clearing that up : ) So I guess crafters just want the Imperial motif to trade gear to non IE accounts. Or, more likely, it's just OCD to have every last motif, that I can understand.

Mostly the purple food / drink recipies. I got lucky and found consummate eye opener (V5 drink) recipe in a guild store for a reasonable price. I've spoken with a total of 2 people with the V5 food recipe available, and I chatted with another guy that was offering the 18 daedric / ancient elf motifs he'd found for a V5 honey brittle recipe. This was when Daedric was going for 100k.

1.8 million gold for it, and no one spoke up.

    THAT is rare.

    And you didnt trade becuase?

OMG, I found an Imperial motif and V5 purple recipe and thought nothing of them, just learned them. Damn, I could have been rich

Well actually I was surprised by the recipe but just presumed they'd increased the drop rate.
