    Imperial, never. At least eight alts later it's still, I assume, in the stables.

    Can I sell it?

    Can't "sell it" but you can buy multiple @1g each. You're not even limited to one per character. My main has 2 imperial horses: one all speed, the other is 30 carry, 19 speed.

    I pre-ordered the Imperial Edition and got my horse on day 1. Here's my horse at level 50 with 38% speed, 31 stamina and 8 carry capacity:

    I have 2 level 50 horses. The imperial was 1g and is maxed with carrying capacity and the light horse is maxed with speed. It didn't take very long to get 42k for the 2nd horse.

    There is almost no reason to spend any gold at early levels. Just replace damaged armor with whatever drops because your armor won't make a huge difference at lower levels. Potions drop like candy so no need to buy them. There's no point to upgrade crafted armor because you out level it so fast. If you don't waste your gold, it accumulates fast.

    I bought the 1g horse because I have the imperial edition. I paid for 20 inventory slots on the horse and the rest into speed. I use it in pve and pvp and I don't regret a thing. No way I am paying 14K+ for a horse. Same goes for the ludicrous amount of gold for a respec. But I only have one character who is levelling all crafts so I break down everything I find and don't sell much. So yeah, I am cheap.

    I have a level 50 Imperial and ones at 45, 36, 31 and 3 below that.

    The 50 is a 50 26 1. You get strange numbers on the 48/49 transition. One extra of each it seems.

    You get the cute tackle at 31 and the 50 horse gets you a nice saddle blanket.

    I gold each.

    Yeah, Imperial Edition and Palomino aside, it's pretty easy to have enough gold to buy a horse by the time you hit level 20. If you harvest every node you come across and sell the refined materials you get from them, sell the dropped gear that you get instead of deconstructing it, don't buy inventory/bank upgrades past the cheapest ones, and don't waste too much money on repairs... You'll easily be able to afford a horse. Heck, if you do that you can probably afford a basic horse by about level 12-15.

    Speaking for myself, I've got the Imperial Edition, so all of my alts have white horses, but my main got his 42K light horse at about level 28. If I hadn't spent so much gold on bag and bank space (at that point I think both were at 100), and if I had been selling dropped gear instead of deconstructing every single piece, I would have been able to buy it much earlier.

    I did sell alot of stuff in chat etc. Also i did buy a complete wizzard armor set from a guy for ... i cant remember... 300 gold? and sold it for 1k lol. Oh yeah and then i found a style book and sold it for 2 k. The rest was just keeping the money really. I needed nearly 2 weeks for it. :p

    Somewhere around 20, I gritted my teeth and paid real money for the Palomino. I felt like a cheater when I did it, but since the actual gold price for a horse is ludicrous and utterly indefensible, I went for it.

    Being a crafter, I needed extra bag space to pick up more things to decon or research. Bag space was costly, and when I was leveling up repair costs sucked, so no horse for me until my 40's. I still didn't want to burn the 14.2k for one then.

    I got my 17,000g horse at around level 25. The price seemed a bit ridiculous, especially since it was when repairs were more expensive but it also gave me a sort of milestone to strive toward.

    On a side note, I really like how horses control/move/sound in this game.

    Something really cool about the sound of horse hooves galloping along a muddy path with a thunderstorm going on and the occasional flash of lightning casting shadows all around.

    Red Dead Redemption did that well, too.

    Of course, by getting a horse you can get 49 slots of bag space for 29,450 gold (17,200 for a basic horse, plus 250 X 49 feedings). That's cheaper than straight-up buying 50 slots of bag space from a bag merchant, although it's a slow progression as you can only do one 1-slot upgrade per 20 hours.

    I see people riding around that are level 16 and have a horse already. I'm lucky to have 3,000 gold at level 16 cause I die so much and spend so much on repairs.

    Of course, I'm playing solo. I join people sometimes but mostly play single which makes it much more difficult.

    I'm wondering if they were able to save up 14,000 gold for their horse by level 16 or if they were able to do it because they played in groups or if friends loan them the gold.

    Oh yeah, forgot, they maybe BOUGHT their gold to get their horse.

    Just wondering if I'm that bad of a player or if they are they good that they can accumulate 14,000 by level 16.

    A lot of the people in those zones now will be playing alts, gold is nothing later on. But I had my first horse at about level 17.

    As for spending gold on repairs, all I can say is don't. There is no need, just change your item for something you drop. Don't even buy gear. The only real thing you should spend gold on is food if you don't provision, but even that I would recommend doing so as it turns worthless mats into a small amount of gold if nothing more. But food is really good way of boosting a stat. I use stamina boost myself and a health one if I meet a boss.

    Personally I deconstruct everything and then sell the mats or even make items and sell them. It generates slightly less gold but it is the best way to level up professions, at least early in the game.

    As for dieing, more information would be needed to determine why. If you are struggling this early on there will no doubt be a problem somewhere that is easily resolved. Do you block? Move out of the red circles? Are you using the right skills? Have you put attribute points into the right place?

    I suggest taking a look at some youtube video's of the kind of build you want. For example if you want a warlock, search for magic based Nightblade or perhaps a Paladin in which case search for heavy armor Templar etc..

    One of the key points in ESO is that skills work together, one skill will boost another's effectiveness and so on. Also passives are very important.

    I bought all my four horses at the nice 17k Gold
    ( I do not have the Imperial-100$-thing )

    I have four characters now with their very own 17K horse. My main has a Horse level 40, the three others horses are more around level 10 to 20.

    With a 17K horse, I will have Speed +50%, a bit of extra Stam and 5 extra Backpack spaces. The 40K ones seem a really crazy bad deal.

    How :
    • I never pay to use Map-Wayshrine Travel (i.e. these are free if you actually Use the Wayshrine directly) ;
    • I of course craft new armor rather then Repair (!) ;
    • though I deconstruct all gear for Inspiration (crafting experience), I manage and sell all low level consumables, Recipes and materials I can spare (like extra Iron Ingots) ;
    • I sell some stuff on guild stores ; etc.
    All in all, it takes me about 4 to 6 days to gather 17 K gold (I can do it faster of course if I actively farm dungeon bosses).

    My advice to any new player is to buy the first 3 or 4 bank and inventory expansions (stop when it gets to 11,000g). Then save until you can afford the draft horse. You should be able to get it by the time you reach L30-35. Once you get the draft horse and feed it only oats things get much easier. Even paying 250g a day to feed my horse I was able to afford the light horse (to use in pvp) by level 45. I felt that the sooner I get my horses the sooner I can start feeding them.

    When leveling just running around and questing you don't really need a horse because the next thing to do is usually very close to the last thing to do. If you need to bank you just use the closest wayshrine to port back to main cities. The number 1 best thing about horses in PvE is the carrying capacity. The more you can carry the more you can sell.

    Not sure why people pay to upgrade their 1g horses though. That's 12500g that could have gone towards buying a good horse.

    I upgraded my main's Imperial horse to level 50 to serve as a packhorse, because I really don't need to spend an extra 42,700 gold to get an extra 10 bag slots. When I use my Imperial horse I've got 149 bag slots, and that's plenty for me. If I do decide I want more, I can spend 19,200 to get another 10 slot upgrade. That's 23,500 less than the draft horse would have cost, and those slots are more useful because I can still have them when using a different horse.

    Meanwhile I got a light horse to upgrade for speed. The extra 10% speed over the Imperial will actually make a difference to me, because when you really want a fast horse, you want the fastest horse possible.

    Although I never repair equipment or fast travel without wayshrine, it doesn't look like I'll be able to afford a horse anytime soon....

    You shouldn't be spending so much on repairs. As suggested earlier in the thread, sometimes craft your own gear instead of repairing it (I repair sometimes, and craft other times), but by level 16 you should have quite a bit of spare gold.

    Yeah, don't repair. Craft.

    To get from 1-50 you certainly don't need greens or above. Just throw traits and some enchantments on your crafted gear and save the tempers for 50+.
