Why do you think that? I think it's possible. Slim, but possible.

Great idea. I remember a few missions in Skyrim that seemed endless, but fascinating all the way through.

I agree but the problem with that is it requires the "camp" system that seems to be strictly an EQ thing(I could be wrong, never played every MMO). Games like this aren't really set up so much for that, cool as it would be. Sad that all the "features" they've added to MMOs over the years has almost entirely destroyed the social structure that we had all those years ago. You're making me want to play some EQ again, lol.

Long dungeon crawlers aren't appealing to many if not most gamers today. Younger gamers? Just think ADD (attention deficit syndrome). Older gamers don't have the time. Even WoW saw this coming. They have BGs, arenas, Brawler's Guild, 15-minute pve scenarios, even lfr which are quick in, quick out (there is no stigma in leaving an lfr raid after doing one boss, the group finder queuing system finds replacements relatively quickly).

It'll be interesting to see how Wildstar does with their emphasis on the more traditional mmo gamers and their marketing pitch to hardcore raiders.

    Less ADD, more AD&D please.

that "Labyrinth" idea is what i expected from some of the caves and dungeons but i havent seen anything that even compares to the lame dungeons in skyrim, i mean the worst dungeons in the skyrim game not that they were bad designs.

Big confusing creative layouts that take like 3-5 hours to complete just arent in style anymore, i dont think even half the ppl that play eso could handle the dungeons Diablo 2 has without rage quiting and crying about how its too confusing to remember what rooms u visited.

In short i love ur idea but too many crybabies and idiots support the gaming industry now with massive of $$$ so everything is low bar : (

Put a few chutes, lots of pit traps and elevators in

cripes a dungeon should not just exist on one level

a tube chute- with choices mid fall or slide to chose which direction
    - chose the wrong one you hit a blade that should slice you from"ahem" the cheeks of your ass to your helm

love to see that death recap

or the mesh grater and you come out as slice and dice
where are the gelateous cubes that absorb victims?

as I mentioned before the dungeons are crappola
any 3rd old could do as good a job

lava rivers to cross and take damage
    leaps of faith
    single line rope bridge
    climbing on sheer walls
swimming underwater thru hallways - and seeing if you can survive to the next air pocket

    feather falling to target ledges

levitation to walkways above (the only way up to special area)

floors that pivot downward to second area only if enough weight triggers it
(this can be in a hallway - and only when a party big enough hits it it swivels down)

imagine a party divided - on person went ahead an is on other leg and the rest on the lower leg

levers, chains pulls, trigger tiles, fall away/breakaway tiles - bottomless pits

just look to previous ESO games did much better

the dungeons should all be radically different and very long... make it hard
make it require several trips in and out (needing items or crafting and quest to get items to continue further - cross questing a bit)

That is a wonderful idea. I would like to see something like Blackreach in ESO.

My Dark Elf in Skyrim took it over for his housing and I still take him through there every once in a while to clean out the trash that accumulates, even though I don't play the game any more. It's sad the big guys don't respawn, the Frost Trolls are two hits for the Beast of Riften:

I'd love it, if it were like a delve/solo dungeon (not TOO hard, and don't need a group (though it helps), with frequent wayshrine points (so you could come back to your last one and carry on, if you can't do it in one sitting. It doesn't look like most people might). And occasional vendors/crafting tables.

I thought you had dug up an old map of Undermountain, OP. :) Now that was a scary, creepy crawl and we never did get past maybe the second floor - in about a year and a half of weekly gaming.

    Seriously, this idea is awesome.

As someone who grew up on Dungeon Master, Gauntlet and Might & Magic, spending night after night working my way through an epic labyrinthine was so much more rewarding than a 20 minute runthrough of a generic instance for a skill point and some random boss loot.

Making it public would allow you to randomly meet other adventurers, and team up for a while, helping each other progress. You may occasionally find traps, puzzles crafting-benches or vendors as you work your way through, but they might be in random locations (this would eliminate the internet walk through guide, cheapening the experience) and you would need to work your own way through the maze.

Something like this has the opportunity to set ESO apart from other current MMO's. To do something nobody else is doing, and to set a longer term challenge to the adventurer, that offers replayablity as it is different every time it is reset.

Make it difficult, make it something you start out yourself, and finish yourself, but will team up with others along the way as you meet them to help each other get through. This could be done with phasing, putting no more than say .. 50 players in a labyrinth of 250 rooms, running into someone would be random and occasional.
Make it impossible to cheat or skip through, and take at least several evenings playtime to complete, and players will really have an achievement to boast about on completion!

The first thing I thought when I saw this was Labyrinthian/ Shalidor's maze, and Blackreach. Then the sewers under the imperial city. This needs to be in ESO.

What would be really awesome , though, is if they made parts of (or even entire) daedric realms like this. Imagine being hunted through Hercine's haunt, having to solve puzzles and overcome challenges as you flee, each giving the pursuers the slip for a while. And I don't think they could do Vaermina's ever changing realm, Quagmire, well without it.

In fact, Quagmire could even be a way for the devs to allow for player created content. This would be great for Bethesda's modding community, more so than the nod given by the add-on system we have. I have seen some great content created by the community. (It's not all nude/skimpy mods and impractical weapons you know ;) )

But, yea. A long, in-depth, and intense dungeon, with great challenges, checkpoints/camps, and complex and interesting puzzles is definately something ESO should have.
This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!

Could make it an Adventure Zone, like Craglorn.
Just a huge zone with all the trappings of a regular outdoor zone; only make it all underground. There could be World bosses, sub-dungeons, quests, probably no Anchors, maybe even a Falmer city.

Hell, the whole zone could be the remnants of the old Falmer kingdoms, or a giant Dwemer City, or both!

    New Adventure Zone; Fallen Kingdoms:
Explore the ruins of ancient empires, discover the secrets of the lost races of Mer and what caused the disappearance of the Dwemer!
