ESO needs an economy

Price gouging is healthy for an economy? Really??

Each guild having its own economy is absolutely not a positive. This is why the actual going rate for Hemming on the open market is 40-50g per. As you demonstrate, guild driven economies are creating inflation and undermining their own purpose. These guild stores cater to greed. Everyone wants to squeeze that little last bit of gold out of the item that they are trying to sell that is why you see crappy greens there being sold for 100g+ because in that market, that is what hemmings are actually going for.

What open market? There is no open market. There are guild stores and zone chat. You get what you can get at the time you are selling.

Both of you seem to be focused on the consumer experience and not that of the seller. As someone who primarily a seller in these transactions, I will price my goods for what I can get for them. That is not gouging or greed, it is supply and demand.
I think you are just arguing to argue now. There is no logical need for individual guild economies or stores. The open market is better than those. A single AH would balance the economy and solve most of the RMT issues. That is factually based on evidence as seen in every other MMO on the market.

Yes, everyone who disagrees with you is simply being argumentative. It isn't at all possible that I sincerely disagree with you.

And BTW, I have read posts on this forum from people with extensive MMO experience saying that an AH increases cheating. Eve, for example, doesn't have a single, common AH, yet it has one of the most extensive and robust economic models of any MMO there is. Unless you are able to point to an economic study across multiple MMOs backing up your supposition, I don't think you can call it fact. It is, actually, your opinion.

ESO has created what, in my opinion, is the start of a good economic model that has the ability to respond to "local" supply and demand pressures and not simply drive to the lowest possible prices. They could have done this by having "zone" stores and forced us to travel to each different zone to trade locally. Instead, they opted for a membership driven "local", and provided us with the ability to be in multiple guilds. If you don't like the selection or prices in the guilds you are in, change guilds.

You want to turn ESO into every other MMO you have ever played rather than figuring out how to make the game mechanics work for you. Yes, I think this model can be improved. I have specified how at the beginning of this thread. My suggestions are all on how to invest in and expand the base model that ESO has provided as opposed to trying to change the game because it is different than what you have played before.

What bothers me most about this is that rather than give Zenimax the time to build on their vision, it seems the community is simply going to demand that ESO become like every other boring ass MMO out there. And that will be a real shame.

I keep seeing this said. I want a way to sell to strangers through an in game mechanic. Because that does not roll of the tongue lets call what I want an an AH.

I want an AH so bad I can taste it. Yet, I keep being told to figure

What are you saying with that? Do I need to figure out how to make gold in game? Cause I think I have that figured out. I sell recipes for 100g a pop in 3 guild stores. I sell about 5-6 a day. I also seem to find motifs (1-9) everywhere, about 1 a day. Am I lucky? I don't know. Those sell from 1200g to 2500g and I usually sell about 1 to 2 a day. And, I sell armor and weapons that cost me nothing to make for plenty of gold. That's just my daily gold coming in.

Which is funny cause if we had an AH. I couldn't give recipes away. And, I know motifs would sell for like 50g. Yet I still want one.

Maybe, I just want a better system, to sell to strangers.

If you read my initial post and my first comment, you will see that I offer some ideas on how to preserve the integrity of the guild store system while allowing people to have access to a broader consumer base.

I think the fact that you have figured out how to make money under this system is great. I have too. I am disinterested in seeing that destroyed because others haven't.

I think the fundamental thing that is missing from the system right now is how do crafters offer their services for money without having to guess on what builds people might want. There are too many options, and too many different styles of play. I think that the majority of the economy in the game right now is in selling mats and drops - not crafted wares. There needs to be an endgame scenario for people focusing on crafting as opposed to combat. An AH does not solve this problem.

Just one quibble: "And, I sell armor that cost me nothing to make for plenty of gold." It did cost you something - the time required to gather the mats, increase your skills, research the traits, etc. You should be compensated for that in game time when you sell things.
