Well, when I played World of Warcraft I could freeze my account anytime I wanted. But this was an incorporated option in your game account.

In this case, sinds their is not such options, one can only ask to the support team for it to happen.

I love these people that wonder why there should be any complaining. Must be nice not to have any standards or responsibilities.

That's a rather silly strawman. No one is saying that there should be no standards. People are just bemused at the idea of calling up and demanding that one's account be put "on hold" for a time "or else." It's a large company with procedures that have to be followed, not a mom-and-pop clothing store where you can put something on layaway. Give me a break.

I already canned both accounts...I refuse to pay for it any longer.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be any complaining, but there is such a thing as perspective. You should have some.

The game is new and while I agree there are still problems, a lot of the wenching on the forum are just people complainging that ESO isn't Skyrim: The MMO or Skyrim II or is too much of a WoW clone or not enough of a WoW clone, etc.

There were decisions made during development that some people will not like. So be it. Not every game appeals to every person. But to come on the forums and cry F2P! and post 'I'm quitting and you suck because you're not' threads is asinine, silly, immature and a waste of internet space.

Complaints about stuff that isn't working as it should, broken quests and classes, bots, customer service, all that is legitimate and should be looked at by the Devs and ZOS and taken seriously.

But just general derrier chappeau-ery doesn't solve any problems.

Maybe being 'burned' by ZOS and ESO someone will learn a lesson that Daddy taught me long ago... never buy the first year of a new model car, 'cause they haven't gotten all the bugs out yet. Same goes with any game. Don't let the shimmer of 'new and shiny' blind you to the fact that every new game will have issues. Period. It's axiomatic. Hell, even Rift, with its ungodly long open beta / soft launch and rapid patching / hot fixes still had bugs and it was hailed as the single smoothest launch of an MMO ever at the time.

Holy moly! Why on earth did you purchase three months in advance?? I bought 30 days to see how i like the game. You should have done that too. One does not pay more than he's willing to play.

I will never make a long term commitment to a new MMO. I couldn't believe how many people did "lifetime" subs to STO when it came out (then went F2P). No matter how high your expectations are you should, at the very least, give it 2 to 3 months before making such a decision.

I agree that they should offer an account suspension option.

I currently plan on staying active with my account, but could very easily see myself needing to take a month or longer break due to travel or whatever, and it would be nice to be able to put my account on pause for that period and not have to choose between paying full sub prices and losing my characters.

I'd even be willing to pay a reduced "holding-fee" sub cost for this option.

I've never heard of any MMO that deleted all your characters after you cancel. They don't, because later they want to ask you to come back. I can't tell you how many WoW emails I got (and deleted) asking for me to come back after quitting that mess, saying how my characters were still there and all, "Mists of Magical Ponies expansion is out now "etc. If you really needed to pause for a month, I'm 99% sure you could cancel and then resume your subscription after a month and characters would still be there.

OP is not asking for that however, and wants a pause on something he's already bought after playing the game for 30 days and then getting buyers remorse.

I can understand the frustration but I learned really fast not to give them more than a month to month sub when they put the ban hammer on me then reinstated me. The game will get fixed within 6 months I think and I hope without losing unlimited amounts of subs. I'm planning to stay. I'm having fun with my friends despite the issues.

Guy goes into a store, parts with a hundred bucks on a Hi FI, has radio, record player, dvd player, burner and a tape deck. Three days later he realises that the Hi Fi does not live up to the description on the box, the record player plays too slow, the speakers lack volume and the tape deck repeatedly eats the tape.

Does he keep using it, or does he take it back to the shop and get his money back ?

Why do the software industry think they should be any different to other companies in this respect ? If you sell a broken product, you have the responsibility to accept that fact and refund those who are not happy with said broken product.

If the "broken" part was subjective, it would be different, but the fact is, there is no way they didn't know that this was broken before launch. If you knowingly sell a broken product, and do not tell the purchaser that it is broken, prior to taken their money, it could well be considered fraudulent behaviour.

I don't mean to be a jerk here, but you people obviously have too much money on your hands.. Buying the most expensive version and 3 months of game time... that signals something..

Well, but I paid for 1 month and spent 2 weeks of them with broken computer, so I shouldn't talk much :D.

As I currently have nothing else to play (unless I want to return to TERA or WoW, bleh), I will tolerate this mess for a while longer. But I don't think they'll gain ANY players with their current policy of employing 10 people to work on code who (from the results of their work) have NO IDEA HOW should those things be done, and with each "fix" they ruin 10 other things across WHOLE GAME. Ugh.

Didn't pay to be patient, I paid for a a game that works to a professional standard. If I decided to play the game, but said to them " gonna play your game for a month or too, if I like it I will pay you after the first couple of months, thx for your patience" . Do you think they would like that?

    Enough said.

I still have until mid August left on my time. Not everyone buys in one month increments. I'm not mad about it at all. I have two accounts that I will play off and on for the next couple of months and will make a decision at the beginning of August if I want to re-sub either one of my accounts.

Funny, for the last 8 months, every time we asked for fixes to bugs we had reported on the PTS over and over again, we were told:
"Fixes are coming ... be patient ..."

And here we are, 2 months into LIVE and the game is as broken (or worse) as it was 8 months ago.

When I read these threads I wonder if we play the same game or what.
Or maybe it's more a question of How Important Playing the Game is to you people but I'd like to remind you that it's a game, no reason for drama or hysteria

If you are bored or don't like it, quit.

Yes, these types of threads are extremely common on gaming forums and they never fail to make me giggle. The OP is invariably an affluent male who describes spending _X_ amount of money to buy this game not only for himself but for his wife and sometimes for his kids. This is supposed to let everyone on the forum know that he is special - a mature, grown-up customer, not like the usual foul-mouthed children that you find playing video games. The OP then goes on to detail some kind of ultimatum that he issued to some hapless low-level customer-service rep, in expectation of getting immediate satisfaction; you know, like he does when he eats half his meal at a trendy restaurant then complains that he doesn't like it and the manager comps it.

When he's told "no" because low-level CS reps don't have the power to make high-level policy decisions like that, not even for a special snowflake such as one who bought not one but two copies of the game, this kind of OP gets huffy and goes to forums to tell everyone how badly he was mistreated.

Mind you, I'm not saying that our OP here fits this profile exactly, but it does come off a bit like it. ;)

Wow! The ESO Defense Brigade has mobilized.

I am the OP and I am an affluent male, if you say so..... Never been described that way before so ?? I point out the amount I paid for the game to let people know I don't believe I am receiving value for the money paid. However, you are mistaken and may have my post confused with another with regards to paying for my wife and children to play. I did not buy multiple copies of the game. Just one.

I also admitted in followup replies that it was entirely my mistake for having paid for a 3 month sub. That's where the Fool Me Once title came from.

You are correct in that I am a mature and grown-up customer, and I am not a foul mouthed teen. I am adult with disposable income who likes to play mmo's to relax and have fun (the exact type of customer ZOS would like to hold on to but didn't). It does not make me special and I never claimed to be. I am just one of the many thousands who sub'd to the game and then cancelled because of how horrible it is.

Also, I never laid down an ultimatum. I asked a simple question - Can my sub be placed on hold for a short time? I did not expect immediate satisfaction. I just asked. (I don't complain about half eaten meals in restaurants either. But that has nothing to do with poorly launched mmo's.) And this kind of OP is not huffy, but I did want to let other customers know that suspending game time is not an option. I'm nice like that.

These types of responses are from a particular type of forum troll. If you have even a valid complaint, issue, or dissatisfaction with their beloved game, you will feel their wrath. Other trolls get on forums and spew hate, make outlandish demands, and are never satisfied with the game. White-knight trolls get on forums and spew hate, make outlandish claims, and are always satisfied with the game. Trolling is trolling......

I stated very clearly - In my opinion, this game is not worth my money.
I wanted this game to be great. It is not. Maybe it will be at some point in the future. I wanted to return in a few months to see. Due to poor policy from ZOS, I will not.

Uhhhhh because, that is not the case. If I buy a game, play it for THIRTY DAYS, then go ahead and buy even more of that game. And then ...after all that, decide "*gasp* I was deceived! Somehow I did not realize that in 30 days...somehow!"
I am not entitled to jack.

And that is completely different than what you described. Your "3 day" example also includes that the device is broken, which would be more akin to him buying the game and realizing right away that the DVD was scratched and he could not install it. In our situation, he is not returning a product, he is returning a product that he's already "used" plenty.

I cannot return an almost empty bag of chips to the store, I used it all up. If I return a full bag, they will let me, because I am still within a reasonable amount of time that I just didn't know better. But no gamer, ever, needs more than 30 days of straight playing to determine if they should buy more or not. He could have canceled within 30 days, and he would've been fine. But he didn't.

So needless to say, your analogy is waaayyy off in left field.

The only game that lets you freeze your time are pay by the hour games like many chinese or korean ones (I played chinese Aion and you had to charge your time),

No other game dos it, not even WoW (your time is still ticking off when you cancel) and it's the pitfall of long term commitments. I had taken a 4 months sub to TOR 2 weeks before trying TESO and I never went back to it. Tried actually but couldn't play that type of combat again. So yeah, suck it up and don't be such a drama queen! Cheer up, you already paid, just play it!

An account suspension system?? lol never.

That'd be like buying petrol from a garage, then going back and saying your not wanting to use half of it so could they hold on to it for you until you decide to use the car again and need to refill.

Strangely i think they'd say 'NO'

You don't lose characters if your not subbed .. they basically go into 'storage' so to speak and at most i've had GW's change the name while i wasn't using it and have me re-do it when i used it again. Same with Anarchy Online at one point.

ZoS please understand everyone thinks and pronounces things differently, so please add to your 'rules' that things get removed if the Mod doesn't actually quite understand phrasing
