Teso is NOT for warriors?

arnaldomoraleseb17_ESO
Hi,

Since my first MMO I have liked a lot play as warrior. Is the only role that I really enjoy and because this I am very disapointed with TESO at this moment.

All I can see right now in PvP is people wearing light armor and Staff. It seems to be the most effective style to play and warriors are close to be useles.

Stamina skills are pretty ineffective and heavy armor is garbage. I play as templar/dk and is very sad to see magicka based builds (light armor) are far better than stamina based builds (heavy/medium armor) on all roles (DD, Tank, Support). I am forced to wear light armor to be effective in PvP.

For me, TESO is not for warriors.

Meh I think you could make any class work in this pvp system. It's all about team work. I'm a Templar and think we are fine. I stack magicka though.

While this may be currently true why not simply learn to get good at an "under powered" style until it get buffed.

MMO's are about constant balance and the current push right now is to get a majority of the skills working and in line in their respective class/skill lines before they do any actual big balance changes.

Templar/DragonKnight are 2 of the best classes currently to attempt melee. The thing to remember about melee is survivability is gonna be more important than actual overall damage or you ARE going to find yourself dead more often than not.

Heavy Armor increases your healing received and reduces stamina required for blocking. Templar is one of the best classes for Stamina based build as Restoring Aura increases your HP and Stamina regen as well as others near you.

I cant see Melee Weapons staying as under powered as they are much longer + I have heard that VR10+ Melee actually starts to pull ahead of class skills as they scale better in VR.

Any class can work is accurate, but WARRIOR is not a class in this game, but a build than any class can do. It is not viable

Any class can use light armor and destruction staff, and focus on ranged combat and aoe combat. some classes have to resort to the destruction staff to get that aoe while others have it built into their own class skills. That is what wins alliance war.

    And of course zergs.

Stamina is used to run, block, dodge and for stamina based skills.Magicka is used for magicka based skills only.It is completely idiotic system that makes medium and heavy armor as well as melee playstyle far less popular and which favors magicka/staff users.
To solve it,they should put running, blocking and dodging on a separate resource common for all classes.

I think melee isn't viable. Light armor + Staff always will do better by far in all situations.

Believe me, I thought like you before. Then I started to find people who know what are doing and I had to reroll, Now I'm wearing light armor. I play PvP every day since beta.

Yes, this is the real "issue" right now. Too much people wearing light armor + resto staff + destruction staff. They are clones and nobody have a chance against them, maybe a good NightBlade if he could start the combat.

    Agreed.

Zenimax told us "play as you want" but the true is "play as mage". We are many people that like to play as warriors (Heavy armor + melee weapon) in MMOs, Zenimax should fix this as soon as possible (after the fix the Europe Megaserver Lag xD).

It's a problem with the light armor and staff balancing. There's a guy who is a Dk and is soloing craglorn content with light armor destro/resto staff

There's definitely arguments with to what I am about to suggest @arnaldomoraleseb17_ESO heavy armor is effective but with it try to (here's the suggestion) go with it w/ light hands and waist only, rest heavy and max out your passive points in both heavy and light armor classes. Don't ask me how it works but it does in a MIN/MAX sort of way.

These are just assumptions. The winner of a fight is decided by a lot of thing, and "what type of armor are you wearing" is a little part of it, so even if you're right, it doesn't mean I'll loose. I fight mages every day, sometimes I loose, sometimes I win :) Maybe you're right, and people with destru/heal staffs are more efficient, but I still have a kill/death ratio at 2:1, so it's enought for me :)

Of course these are assumptions, but the true is that light armor is far better. Maybe Heavy armor isn't the problem, because light armor is simply too good. -21% spell cost is the best passive skill in the game, plus +42% spell resist penetration make light armor the best choice when you want to do PvP effectively.

I heard Zenimax is aware about this, but I think buff heavy armor to gain ultimate quickly will not be enough (I like the idea but we need more).

It could be interesting to see the kill/death ratio of people wearing light armor, in order to see if they really are over powered.

Yep, I only can say my K/D ratio has been increase a lot since I am wearing light armor.

The problem is I hate how my character looks right now. I bought the Imperial Edition because I really like how looks Imperial heavy Armor and now I can't use it :-s.

I suppose it depends on your playstyle. For soloing or smallmanning, Destro staff definitively doesn't feel OP to me. (1h/2h and bow templar, medium armor).

Heavy armor passives do need some buffs though i think.

Heavy Armor is lack luster, yes. Its okay if you're using sword and shield, because of the block cost reduction. Not good for much else.

    Medium Armor isn't. Its boss.

If you spec for Stamina and medium armor, you can make an effective melee warrior. Do you still need some magicka? Yes. Self healing is something that can't be achieved without magicka in some way. A lot of the best skills are class skills, requiring magicka.

But its absolutely untrue to say you need Light Armor and a staff.

Meta evolves. Right now people have found powerful specs using light armor and staves, but that's just the flavor of the month. Stick around and things will change.

    PS.

They've said they'll buff heavy armor, maybe by giving it greater ultimate reduction or generation.

Oh god I hope they do NOT add ult reduction. We have had enough problems with Ults being spammable. Giving ult reduction would just cause more banners and bat swarms to come flying around again and we will be back to a few weeks ago.

They just need to buff stamina based skills, so that armor is on par with spell resist.

While most used skills get mitigated by spell resist, there is no need to wear heavy armor.
