Gear/Weapon Color Changes are Horrible, Please change back ZoS Team!

Let me preface this with saying that this experience will be relative to the gear level, material type, grade of the gear and racial motif used.

I am specifically peeved about this horrid total wash of the overdose of void-blue color across everything, and with the details on somethings just a flat jet black(details gone). I have a set of legendary V10 voidsteel heavy armor, Ancient Elf motif. Also, 3 legendary weapons: Nord Motif Resto Staff, Red Guard Destro Ice Staff and an Orc Destro Inferno Staff. Everything...armor and weapons at legendary were gorgeous before in metallic golds and gold accents and detailing once it was turned legendary. Now everything is this hideous very dark blue-black monochrome wash-over.

The best way to describe how this looks is like when you have a graphics card going bad and you get all one dark color because the colors aren't displaying properly anymore. It really bothers me so much I have no interest in the content that I 'WAS' excited to get into with this patch, but no longer even want to be logged in. I am not the only that feels this way. MANY guild mates and other guilds we chat with also do NOT like this change that was supposed to be an improvement.

I will assume this was done because some portion of the ESO community thought some of the gear/weaps didn't have good quality looks to them...and this may be true for 'certain items'. I don't know what these individuals were asking for and I am not sure what the interpretation was from those asking by ZoS in the office internally that this was the result, but this can't be what was asked. What may have in some cases improved some gear types, has ruined others completely. Now I and others like myself are disgusted by the broad-stroke gear appearance change, whereas only a few things should have been changed while others were fine and didn't need to be touched.

Please revert the gear to the way it was and just let 'US' make our changes with the dye system when you release it in an upcoming patch. Thank you.

AGREED! A thousands times agreed! I logged in, took one look at my characters, and practically threw up. I was holding back with the Dwarven level 40 armor for a reason! I HATE the look of gold armor. It's just gawdy and cliche. I used my Imperial medium because it actually had dark crimson in it, you know, like the Imperial armor should. Now? Some nasty tan color.

What were you thinking, Zenimax? Turn it back, please. For the love of RPers and those that just want to look nice, turn it back.

Make armor dyes and paints and let those who want to look gawdy in gold armor do so.

Armor's messed up. Animation's messed up (my Khajiit all turn their upper body to look at someone when I cursor over them). Even heard that some people's quests disappeared from their journals.

But, hey, at least we have Craglorn... right?!

The color scheme is worse in that picture, but the graphical quality is Much Better. All of the armors I have seen in game since the patch are greatly improved in graphical quality, better resolution (maybe just filtered?) more shiny/reflective metals (UV maps?) and more - a very nice unexpected change. I do however agree that some of the color choices are pretty ugly. The worst part is that people are now stuck with something they did not choose and now nobody knows what looks like what anymore since there's no Preview function in the game and nice websites like eso-fashion.com are neutered and starting from scratch again. :(
Semi retired from the trading aspects of the game.

I mean, if you have some irrational hatred of dark-purple things, then that second picture probably looks bad. To me, it looks much, much nicer than your previous set.

Just tough it out until we get the dye system, then we'll be able to customize our looks as we see fit. Personally I think the new look is better, but that's me.

I think the 'after' picture above actually looks nicer. But it's a totally subjective thing. Some will like it, some won't.
When dyeing is introduced to the game (which the dev's have said is going to be) hopefully we'll all be happy then

Unfortunately with this change, ESO-Fashion is back to the start again, but such is life I guess.

I posted this in another thread, but here's a comparison between my old and new armor:

Not an exact comparison (I pulled the 1st image from a site as I don't have a ss of my own character in this armor). But the change is notable.

These are both medium Bosmer level 28 armor.

Before armor (not my toon but same armor)
    dE9qbdv.jpg

After armor (This image is actually my toon)
    Vrg8hM7.jpg

I like how it looks more "earthy" given that I'm a wood elf. But I'm not a fan of the green color. But hey, just a very tiny qualm and has no bearing on actual gameplay. Just look forward to a dye system. Btw, I can't be the only one who thinks Bosmer helmets are ugly :p

    Agreed. The change is....fugly.

And no mention of it in the patch notes far as I can tell.

I'm hoping against hope it's some glitch they'll revert. Otherwise, time to dig out the costumes from my mules.

Actually, I'm like the look of the armors now. They actually look better based on the quality. They were terrible before.

Yeah so far I have liked the changes posted personally. I'm very interested for someone to post an epic/legendary VR10 Daedric comparison as that was pretty awful before imo.

It worries me that they wasted time doing this instead of implementing a dye system... I couldn't care less if they do put dyes in, but spending hours and hours simply changing the color of everybody's armor seems like a waste of time.

All my guildies in vr10 epic and legendary daedric said it looks so much better. Much better than that drab olive green that it was.

wasted time? it was bug fix. The rarity was reversed, as you upgraded they looked lower quality. It's not like this required a lot of effort to fix since it happened quite quickly after gina finally acknowledged my thread.

Changing armour colours to something specific based on their current system would take a huge amount of time less than coding and implementing a dynamic system that allows players to change armour colour at will as well as implementing a system in game for the purchase and/or creation of these dyes. This is a much needed short term fix.

Personally I like the change. Before my armor was a dull beige, awful looking. Now it is blue and gold and looks much cleaner. Same with my other characters. Can't please everyone B)

My armor went backwards. I have lvl 46 superior, was a nice dark grey color. Now it is the same as what the lvl 42 superior/lvl 46 white and fine looked like. I only upgraded each piece to superior to get the dark grey.

Oh, I didn't know that's what it was... The way it was portrayed in this thread led me to believe that they just changed all the colors of people's armor... Thank you for clarifying that.

its a coin toss for me some of the befors I like better then the afters mainly the first set of pictures the befor looks a lot better then the after but that's just cause you can see all the detail on the light colors where the dark purple hides so much but also some of the new looks seem to stand out and show a lot more so id say its 50/50 some look better befor while others look better after
