Alliance Change - (Becoming a traitor)

I believe that player should be able to change his alliance. This should come at a high cost, but it should be do-able. Perhaps no reward during the current 90-day war, and a AP fee of 500k (something to that effect). But yes, why should someone not be able to join a different alliance if their current one rubs them the wrong way for some reason?

You disagree w/ your emperor and his motives? You find a distaste in for your current High-King? Pack your things up and head to a different alliance. Forever being banished from your former alliance of course.

I already feel like a traitor when I reach VR. It's annoying.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

Exactly. What's the point of changing your alliance when you get to have to do all the quests for the other factions anyways?

Agreed, and it'll also have an adverse effect on PvP, as people will constantly be changing to the winning Faction.

With the current cross-faction guilds, there is very little "loyalty" as it is.

My first day in Auridon I saw a yellow tent.
I immediately crouched down into sneak and made my way over to it.
Much to my dismay, I was unable to set it on fire.

This was done in EverQuest II. I don't know if it was refined later because my experience was only around launch time, but the general concensus was that it wasn't a very good feature, and generally spawned more problems and complaints than people it appeased.

Felt like a spy talking to them at first. Then when I realise [E]Use was to set the Covenant fire ballista on fire instead of firing it, it breaks my heart. I almost cried.

Fully agree, already feel like a traitor as I've been 'FORCED' to kill many Dominion NPCs already. Totally screwed my immersion AND spoilt any story/quests that I may have enjoyed on an Alt ! ! !

IKR. After they forced me to burn the ballistas I so love, I left it at VR1, made an alt and do the 1-50 quests before going back to the VR1 again. Just so it doesn't ruin any 1-50 immersion.

Though I still feel like a traitor. They shouldn't force people into other alliances. I may be Covenant at heart but this threat seems more befitting for us to put our differences aside.

You'd spend a fortune changing alliance every time some d***head made it to Emperor or some guild started exploiting a bug.

Just remember s***t happens and ignore the politics.

I think there should be a long, quite difficult quest in order to change faction, but there should be one. The reason why I want it to be a hard, long quest, is that only those who REALLY wants to change alliance, will do so.

And you should only be able to do this once per character. I am not talking as long quest as the main one....but something simular......you do it because you really dont like your alliance and wants to come to Ebonheart! ;-)

Since I view the implementation of factions pointless and there simply to give PVP in a TES game a reason to exist, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Dude, no. Covenant for life man.

It's bad that you ditched your people to ally with the Nords who dare compare their lowly works with the steel of Orsinium, and now you're promoting traitorous acts?

You're a disgrace to the proud race of Orsimer and the Chief is disappointed having a child like you.

I dont know my orc parents. I was brought up by Agonians who thought me respect and honor. Honor is something us orcs have in our blood anyway.

I didnt betray by alliance. I was simply brought up Ebonheart and there is where I fight! Even if it means against my own kin.

Lies, the Argonians have been feeding you lies! It's not hard to find your parents, as only the Chief is allowed to have offsprings to ensure strength in the tribe! The Argonians deceived you, child.

I liked the questline in EQII that allowed for this because you could remain in this middle state attacking both sides without ever having to pick either if you so chose.

I have to agree. I wanted to level alts of different classes as well, but when I think of the grind, it just can't do it from the start. How about some kind of legacy system for alts? Or better yet, let us level VR in Cyrodiil if we want to and skip the other factions' for VR if we want to?

    Any other ideas?

Like I said, this would make you unable to return to your original faction. You'd forever be labeled a traitor and banished. And like I also said in my OP (which I feel you didn't read at all), if you switch you cannot enjoy the rewards of the current PvP 90-day campaign.
