Alchemy bugs!

I'm levelling Alchemy on my character and I noticed some bugs in the reagents effects combination, expecially when you become able to use three reagents at the same time.

You can combine two reagents if they share at least one of their four effects and that effect will be added to the created potion. Now, if you add a third reagent, which shares a different effect with one of the first two reagents, that new effect should also be added to the created potion.

Well that does happen sometimes, but it doesn't for some (several) reagents combinations. For example Columbine + Dragonthorn + Water Hyacinth shoud create a potion with both Restore Stamina and Restore Health effects, those effects are highlighted when combining those reagents, but the final potion only has one of those two effects.

On the other hand, the same situation with other reagents, produce the correct double-effect potion.

The same goes for triple-effect potions. Columbine + Corn Flower + Mountain Flower should give an omni-restore potion (H/M/S), but only two effects actually appear, while Corn Flower + Lady's Smock + Wormwood correctly creates a Detection + Restore Magicka + Increase Spell Power potion.

There's definitely something odd in the effect combination process and I don't believe it's working as intended.

Please look into it!

Thanks!

I have noticed the same bug. The combination Bugloss + Corn Flower + Water Hyacinth should restore health and magicka, but only restores magicka. A solution to this issue would be appreciated!

there is a workaround... first put the plants in then put the water in. If you have the water in when you add your second plant it will set it to make a potion based on the first two even if you add the third plant in.
Magic is impressive but now Minsc leads SWORDS FOR EVERYONE!!

your first listing has 3 effects. do you have all the traits discovered? i see weapon crit, restore stam and restore health.

Columbine + Corn Flower + Mountain this combo needs to have a 2nd trait on corn flower to work.
when trying to combine herbs you need 2 from a single source to work. so to share 3 effects on the same potion you have to have 2 effects on each herb that matches one on another.
Cloumbine + Bugloss + Mountain Flower is the proper order.
Bugloss + Columbine share restore magicka
Columbine + Mountain Flower share restore stamina
while ALL three share restore health so you will see a higher restore health over the restore magick and stamina.

im not sure why having 3 on one and one on another won't work, but i now see the confusion. but my best guess is 2 effects are needed on each across the three to work successfully.

Got no problem with this combination

I think that's no bug, cuz cornflower got ravage health attribute, what negates a restore health attribute of columbine/mountain. So u only hav 1 restore health with these 3 flowers
    health: 1+1-1 = 1 restore health

I have found that it depends sometimes on the order of reagents placed into the crafting slots. Try and switch them around.

The main one I did notice this on was the invisibility potion I was working on, I was trying to make one that restored a stat (can't remember now which one) and all I could get was invisibility and no other stats.

Well I have a good one for you then... >:)
Try Blue Entoloma + Columbine + Namira's Rot
This should Become Immune to Knock back and Disabling effects (3 sec), Vanish (3 sec), Restore Health Immediately and Over time.

Thank you all for your comments.

I examined the issue more accurately and it seems to be bug free.

The reason for missing effects was indeed in the presence of an opposite effect in one of the three reagents.

At the beginning I thought that negative effect could take place only if at least two reagents shares one of them, but it's not the case. As Yakumo stated, it's enough one Ravage Health to cancel two Restore Health effects, that's why Corn Flower is no good in creating potions with Restore Health final effects, no matter what other two reagents you combine that with.

With that in mind it is just a matter of selecting the right combinations of reagents in order to create triple-effects potions. At the moment I found 14 different triple-effect potions, some of them deriving from more than one combination of 3 reagents.

@arbox81‌ Taking the perk Snakeblood may lower the effects these negatives (in Cornflower by your example) have on your potion's outcome, thus allowing the creation of your intended potion.
