Two questions...
What material is required to make the light armor?
Why does it have holsters on the hips?
1. It's called Malachite. Shards of it drop in treasure chests in the world. 10 shards = 1 malachite.
2. Those are the hip plates that are on most armors in the game, I usually hate em but those don't look too bad
Malachite is the style material. The way the question is posed, it sounds like he is asking for the craft material, at least to my mind. To answer that as well in case it was that: depends on your level. The above is probably the V16 piece, thus requires ancient silk. In order to create above robe, you need both, malachite and ancient silk, together with the knowledge to craft glass style chest pieces (have read glass style motif).

Yes. That was exactly what I was asking for. I wasn't sure if there were new materials beyond v14 for armor crafting.
Does the ancient silk come from nodes?

Ancient silk is from deconstructing loot drops. There are no node. Regardless of extraction skill, you can only get ONE piece per item deconstructed. For me, I'm getting less Ancient Silk items than Rubedite medium and heavy.

Is it available in jerkin style as well as robe? Drop rate on malachite sucks, about 1 every 10-15 chests for me. Much more competition for chests now, too.

Yes, it comes in jerkin style as well. Just imagine the same thing above with everything cut off below the belt, except for the flap extending from the chest area.
And yes, collecting the ancestor silk is a PAIN to get and a huge grind that is reminiscent of the Korean MMOs I used to play. Looking at the difference in stats between vr15 and vr16, it's not worth grinding for the vr16 because they're almost identical. The rest of my pieces are vr15 because they only take like 15 silk instead of 150.

Yikes! That's a huge difference. Maybe 15 to 150 was an effectual typo they have yet to correct?

Dang... I wanted to give an Agree Awesome and Insightful... went with Insightful since that's usually a less used one
Thanks @nimander99—it's an unbelievable difference, especially for materials that cannot be harvested.

If you didn't see ESO Live last week, they said there was NO mistake with the amount of mats needed for VR16 equipment, and the numbers would definitely NOT be changed. They also said it would somehow get easier with next DLC release. No idea WTF this means....waiting for other shoe to drop.
