My search-fu is lacking as I'm positive this has already been mentioned, but I can't find an actual answer anywhere.
Thieves Guild released and suddenly we saw the (old) undaunted "hybrid" sets make a come-back in the chests. Sets such as undaunted bastion and such. Well, when we used to get them.. max level was VR14. In the move to VR16 (I think is when) we quit receiving these. Now we are getting them again - as VR14 gear even on VR16 characters.
Was it intended to bring these sets back?
If so, was it intended they only scale to VR14? Even though everything coming from those chests should scale to character.
Has anyone seen an actual answer to those questions?
My guess:
They were meant to drop for VR15/VR16 players, but something went wrong and they didn't. Now they fixed the drop, but the sets are not meant to scale to VR16, so we get them in VR14.
They are meant to be deconstructed. We were getting less than we should have, these "new" items are not replacing any shoulder piece or mercenary book.
A question for anyone who was not VR15+ since the Imperial City DLC: Were you getting the undaunted sets from VR1 to VR14?
Same. ( console-X) Disappointing, tbh. Pre-TG I would still get v14-15 'decon--fill' from a gold key.
But since TG, nothing but v14 undaunted unweaver from silver or gold keys.
What's the point? I just... why? This seems so counter-intuitive. Some of those sets COULD be of use and to help build diversity. I don't want yet MORE vendor trash. ESO's loot system is unapologetically boring and uninspired. Of the few things we could get (trials and former gear) so much of it doesn't scale and just gets abandoned.So... they answered the question (kind of) on ESO live.

I imagine the Undaunted gear not dropping from boxes in VR15/16 was a bug, so they fixed the bug and they dropped. I just don't get why they don't scale upwards. Sometimes I get the feeling the dev back end is far, far more complex than it needs to be so simply adding a new item to the game has to be hard coded, and can't be easily implemented through their dev tools.redspecter23 wrote: »My list of possible answers.

5. Seriously, Zos just can't count to 16. So many items and systems don't currently scale to cap. Is it any surprise that this is just another system that doesn't scale to cap. I'd like to refer Zos to my #1 above. In a v14 cap world, v12 and even v10 gear had a potential place on endgame characters. These days if it's not v16, it's so far below the curve it can't be considered.

At least this time I don't get tagged as a habitual whiner since I didn't start the thread, not that I'm saying you are mind youActually the undaunted pieces were pretty worthless when they were introduced, and now they are even moreso. I would just rather have an extra purple piece in the gold chest than any of the Undaunted junk, which usually goes straight to the deconstruction table. I was actually getting better loot from the chests before the TG update than we are getting now.
