Concept: Character creation overhaul

The basic goal of this concept is to allow people to see more of the character than what they currently see right now a character may look amazing but later on... most commonly after the tutorial you think damnit. The concept: the preview gear button will instead open a menu with many new options options:

Background, change the background EX: coldharbour cave, coldharbour exterior, house, alikir desert complete with lighting for each background.
Time: sunrise, sunset, midday, night you get it to go with the backgrounds.
Gear, same as before but let us preview any race or armor type perhaps even exotic motifs IE: style one category, weight another, vet and non vet the third, naked the forth.
Vamp, let you preview all the vampire stages on your character.
Skins, let you preview things like soul or mind shriven skin that morph with your character.
Poses, do I have to explain this?

Others:
free camera toggle: let you change the view of the scenery then back to rotating your character with a click so you can see your face reflecting against the sun or away from it or zoom and focus on one part.

what do you think? I feel this will reduce deletions of characters because they look ugly in the light ect.

How about instead of "poses" they just allow us to toggle/activate emotes while in character creation? This could include attack and defense poses.

I LOVE the idea of a free camera toggle.

I would like the idea of equipping whatever the player has in their bank or purchased on their account. If ZOS allowed costumes you do not have there should be a "buy now!" kind of situation where a player might find a costume they really like while in character creation which could lead to a crown store purchase.

The "skin toggles" sounds pretty good too... but I wonder if things like... previewing vampires might take the mystery out of it.

I think all of this would be a welcome addition to the character creation system. +1 from me!

What about asking people if they want to keep the character when they reach the end of the Coldharbuor escape sequence, and if not taking them back into the creation screen?

I'ts when they get into real(ish) light which IS after that that people realize oh I *** up on this big time

By poses I did mean emotes but this terminology is more friendly to first time MMO players.

Sure, but you could add that in the creation screen and still have the option at the end of the tutorial, because some things you can't tell until you are in the game world and playing.

Just any pose other than the gormless one we have. Same applies to character select screen. It's hard to get motivated when all of your characters look anaemic.

They could refit it for both character generation and character recustomization once they finally implement latter, I suppose.

I would love some "preview" options allowing different lighting, different backgrounds different poses (standing, walking, running & attacking at least), free camera angle and so on... not so sure about vampire skin and such, but maybe that too.

I agree with you on some points.

Especially lighting should be better to better judge the facial features and hair color. Along with lighting should be improved the zoom which should allow the player to zoom in very, very close (like swtor's zoom factor).

For the background, i would suggest the EVE-online background, which is a black/dark-gray-background, like those you can find in real life at a professional photographer. It should be neutral and support the lighting/(reflections).

The other suggestinos are for me personally not important but would be nice to have

It should not be too difficult to add previews like it is done in the crown shop, where you can see a costume how it looks on your character before purchasing it. But I agree, that the lighting could be improved and the background should be a dark-grey, so that colors of the background do not interfere with the visuals - a human eye is always adapting to the surrounding, what we consciously see is never that what is actually there, but an interpretation of the brain. A less irritating background is better.

Yeah this is a great idea, definitely need it in the game. The ability to change lighting, backgrounds, and use various emotes would be a great way to test out your character before you finally save the changes for good.

They need more examples for each voice. Just a grunt, scream, laugh isn't enough to go on.
