That speed buff in towns and slamming my face into walls!

I really, REALLY hate that AoE speed buff that people cast in towns so that they can zip about. OK, they want to zip around, but I don't. I like to bumble along at my own speed, then along comes someone casting the buff, whooosh, I end up with face meeting wall because I've suddenly gone from 'bumbling' to high speed! I like my own speed as my hands are partially disabled and I can't always react quickly enough to stop the 'wall in face' scenario!

What I am asking for here, is not to take away the ability for people to cast this in towns, but for something *I* can use, either a toggleable ward I can switch on for bumbling through towns, or a dispel, or something. Anything that would stop this being applied to my character. What is the great flaming hurry, anyway?

Just please let me have my slow speed just as they have their zipping about. Let us have the choice for it to be applied or not. As we ALL want, not just those casting the thing.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

I definitely get where you're coming from, but there's so much else they could spend the man hours on than adding a toggle for people who like to walk/run slower. It's kind of a '1st Nirn problem'

Absolutely not attacking you personally, but I'm getting a little tired of "but there are more important things for the devs to work on" being used as a stock answer and sometimes an attempt to shut down discussion, every time someone asks for little convenience features/tweaks.

    ^ This. So this. ^

Please don't shoot me down with the 'more important things' argument. This affects me directly and the way I feel most comfortable playing. I didn't even ask that the buff be taken from those who like using it, I asked for something that I would need to toggle off or on. It is annoying and spoils my enjoyment of the game. I'm an elderly lady with weak, slow hands. I don't PvP (which I think is where that buff comes from). I find the speed buff speeds me up too much. I don't even have my horse speed maxed - for this reason. I make the choice to cap my mount speed at 30.

I just want a simple option to allow me to play at my speed. When you get old, speed stops being important! :D If I could mod the game, I'd happily mod it in for myself, but as that is not an option, all I can do is ask the devs nicely to at least consider it.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

While harsh, it's actually true. It's not important for the whole game at all. Sorry to say that.

So you're basically saying that there is nothing worth talking about on here, and nothing the devs should take any interest in, apart from "big" issues like PvP lag and class balance? Sorry, not buying. Small quality of life things matter too, sometimes more than you think and to more people than you think.

This is why I always wear a helmet in town. I have found that the Khajit version with an extra protrusion at the front protects my delicate Breton nose best when I slam into walls.

Seriously, though, even I can agree that the running speed is a bit over the top in the game. I have several speed buffs acrive because I play an agile NB who needs to kite and circle (and sometimes just run like a coward), and when somone adds Rapid Manoeuvers to the mix when I'm in town, I often toggle to "walk", or I feel like a five year old on a sugar rush.
Comparing to the movement speed in other games, ESO does feel a bit rushed. But I can't compare to other MMOs. Never played them.

Use this as a workaround - not sure if the same as console, but PC have settings to toggle walk/run. Utilise it so that when it's casted, you can toggle walk to lower your speed.

In the bigger scheme of things, I doubt zos will ever make changes to this.

Why does everyone buy a game these days and try to change it to how they like to play instead of just adapting to how it was meant to be played?

If the developers tried to keep everyone happy in this game, it would probably take forever to write the code.

    EU PS4 Megaserver
    VR16 Sorc - Daggerfall - Magic Build
    VR16 Nightblade - Daggerfall - Stamina Build

PS4 Guild: Illuminati Gaming for the over 30's is not a myth.

Your doubts don't change much in here. The changes are not going to be made just because a single person/few people made a request. And yes, the "big" issues are the real priority.
Why does everyone buy a game these days and try to change it to how they like to play instead of just adapting to how it was meant to be played?
Because many people think they and their demands are more important than other people. There are already 2 of them in this 6-person conversation so far. No need to say more.

The game doesn't have a colorblind mode, subtitles and text chat on consoles and remappable controller buttons. I sympathize with your situation, but let's be realistic: this isn't going to happen.

All I asked for was something I would have to use in order to play a game the way I would like to play it. As it is currently, I am forced into having this speed buff applied because it affects an area rather than just the caster. I'm used to being able to mod things into a game that I want, but in this case, I can't. No one can.

I *know* there are 'more important' things. Importance is relative. This is important to ME. I'm not even demanding anything, I'm asking - nicely, I might add. I'm not some entitled brat who feels I have to have it my own way. This was a REQUEST. Nothing more.

Hell, make it a scroll that adds a toggle and sell it in the crown store. Make some money from it.

I dont mind so much the actual speed buff... it's more that this stupid spell forces me to draw me weapons even though I am just a mere bystander.

They should make it so it can only be triggered in combat situations.

And if some people don't like the sound of that then tough, I don't want to be affected by the buff in towns or any where else and I don't care what you think.

But that won't happen as more people want it accessible outside of combat instead of restricting it. Don't believe me? Make a poll thread and see.

Learn to walk, not kidding actually learn to toggle walk on instead of always running. You are no more important then anyone else and personally I like when my low level alts get this buff so while you do not like it I do, it is a wash.

    This, so much this.
Specially in towns when I just want to take in the atmosphere and RP a little. Unsolicited speed buffs I can live with, but I hate it that the buff makes me draw weapons/fists (whatever is equipped).

Having a toggle or opt-out is never going to happen. Not just for this, but for most of these requests. It sounds like a simple compromise from an outside perspective, but behind the scenes it is a nightmare and a time-sink to code and implement.

What I think they COULD do instead, is have it only effect those you are in a group with, and/or while in Cyrodil. That would make running in towns a lot less weird, as OP needs - while still retaining functionality where it really matters: PvP.

Isn't the speed buff most use from the assult line "non-combat only" to start with?

It would help if that particular buff was not area, but "group only" instead...

At least using the nightblade "path" can be somewhat hazardous for the caster these days, with guards and innocents around...

Rapid Maneuver is meant to be used outside combat or in breaks between direct engagement. It ends on attack. You can't make it combat-only.

Ignoring the obviously angry and hypocritical people in this thread, your only real options are to switch from running to walking (toggled keybind in PC, not sure about console) as mentioned above, or switching to a permanent walking speed setting and using sprint to go those short distances between A and B at the use of your stamina.

I wish this was the end of it, but I'm sure there'll be more people posting below their angry rants at how you're entitled and there's more important issues etc.

Blimey. I make a polite REQUEST topic with a sprinkling of humour and some of you people seriously need to chill out and kick back.

My request was for something that I could CHOOSE to use. Nowhere did I ask that the buff be removed or changed for anyone else. Play as you want by all means. But, I would also like to play the way I want without being unnecessarily buffed when I don't want it. I'm asking for something to enhance MY gameplay. Your buff enhances yours, after all. It's spoiling mine.

You're entitled to disagree, but insulting me and jumping down my throat with your opinions is not required or wanted.
