Console discussion has taken over General Discussion, but this should begin to ebb once we're well past launch. Activity is already picking up in the technical support sections for consoles, and we're actively moving threads there. Discussions that pertain to both systems will be left in GD, but we're consolidating similar discussions, and these threads will become less frequent in the coming weeks.

Other than GD, and obviously the support and guild recruitment categories, most sections remain platform neutral.

If GD continues to be dominated by console discussion, we may certainly consider new console-specific sections. However, we don't want to add forums now and find we don't have the activity to sustain them in a few weeks.
@ZOS_AlanG, this is a slight derail, but while we are on this subject, one "feature" that was removed in the forum restructure earlier this year was that the Recent view no longer says what category the discussion is in. It shows the title, author, last poster, but not the category.
This was removed because we were adding a lot of new information, and didn't want Recent Discussions to be cluttered. However we've heard from a number of people that they'd like it back, and it's something we've looked into. Although at the moment other forum development projects are taking priority.

@ZOS_AlanG Hi Alan. So does this mean, by your own logic, that you will be moving all of the "Bug issues" for the Consoles over to the Technical Support forums and cleaning up General Discussion?

We are actively moving threads to the tech forums when appropriate, but anything that applies to both Xbox One and PS4 is being left in GD. We don't have a specific bug forum, sometimes the support section is the best location, sometimes a different sub forum. For example, a bug related to the Main Quest is probably best put in the Main Quest forum.

A number of people, in this thread and others, have asked about tagging. Thread tagging and profile tagging were both looked at prior to console release, but the functionality was limited. There's also no option to require tags, so they'd be optional.

If the activity of your Forums drop in a few weeks...it won't be because there are "too many" forums...but because the game isn't worth the time to post about.

That is a terrible reason for not having a PC and Console forum.

We understand what you're trying to accomplish with the Forums, but give the people what they want.

I don't think you get what the problem is. WE DO NOT WANT TO EVER SEE THE CONSOLE THREADS. It's not that they are just dominating the discussion, it's also their issues are COMPLETELY irrelevant to the PC players. For instance here are some current topics:

Xbox One ESO Plus Only 30 Day Option
    ESO plus on the PS4
All forms of chat on the console version are complete failures!
    Character Transfer After Release
    On Xbox one
Will they put back character transfer from PC to Xbox?
    ESO Plus for PS4
    Invisible and non-interactive NPCs.
PS4 EU server LAG, FPS drops, Stuttering

How exactly is it helpful for non console players to see these threads? Please tell us the rationality, because all it looks like is a bunch of meaningless spam. It would be really nice if you listened to your players for once.

Exactly, that's what I meant somewhere earlier that the console issues/bugs and other console related topics are different ones than on the PC version. Doesn't make any sense to keep them in one section.

I don't see what's wrong with that tbh.

Ok, let me change the list for you, for a better understanding:

    "Console issue
    Console problem
    Console timeout
    Console login issue
PC: Please help me with a quest!
    Console whatever
    Console: I don't care
Console: I starts to annoy me
Console: I can't see it anymore
PC: New to ESO: how does the Champion System work?
Console: it's getting too much now
Console: do you prefer X, Y, or Z Box?
    Console problem with the code
PC: Help, I got stuck underground
    Console.. really?"

What I meant was that the PC threads are where they belong, there's nothing wrong with them. But now I/we can barely see them anymore since the General Discussion section is flooded by console threads.

I've had ZERO new content in the last 8 months because of console, and now I have to look at console threads every time I log on...amazing.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

I have no interest in reading about console tech issues, console-related game feedback, console-related guild recruitment, console-related PvP activity, console-related anything. These threads are not going to go away unless the players go away.

Please move them to their own section so we can better find and participate in threads relevant to our platform.

If console discussion continues to dominate GD in a few weeks, even with aggressive moving/consolidating, a structure change may be necessary. We're open to that, but we need to get past the launch bump first to see if there is sufficient long term activity to support this. The next few weeks may be a bit rough in General Discussion, but the rest of the forums aren't seeing the same surge in platform-specific discussion.

Dividing GD by platform would result in a lot of redundancy of topics that are not tied to platform. Alternatively, adding forums for non-support platform discussion confuses the divide between what belongs there and in the support section.

As the title says, I really, REALLY would like to see the actual PC topics as a PC player in the current General Discussions section.
Could you please add a new console section for the better overview? All I see right now in the topics list reads like this:

    Console issue
    Console problem
    Console timeout
    Console login issue
Please help me with a quest!
    Console whatever
    Console: I don't care
Console: I starts to annoy me
Console: I can't see it anymore
New to ESO: how does the Champion System work?
Console: it's getting too much now
Console: do you prefer X, Y, or Z Box?
    Console problem with the code
    Help, I got stuck underground
    Console.. really?

    You know what I mean.
So, will a new console section be added soon? (Or at least, soon™?)
    Thanks.

I'll help bring you up to speed with PC discussions....Waaahhhh when are VR levels being removed,
Waaahhhh why can't we duel,Waaahhhh when are we getting new content. Waaahhhh, waaaahhhh, waaahhhh.

The PC/Mac launch had a lot of launch-related discussion in General Discussion as well, much of it platform specific. After a month or so, general game discussion took over. We expect to see the same with consoles. Yes, there will always been a few platform-related threads active in GD, in the past week there have been several about Windows 10 and about gamepad support for computers. These are a minority, however.
Looking over the topics in GD, a great deal of the console related tech/bug/support posts were moved OUT of their respective forums and INTO GD by the mods...adding insult to injury.
If you see a thread title that begins with "Moved" it started in that forum and was moved elsewhere. We leave redirects so those who were participating in the conversation can find it again.

There are a lot of threads that have been moved out of General Discussion today (and last week, for that matter). I don't see any that were moved from Support into GD, but if you point them out I'll investigate why this is happening.

You mean like about a million PC player threads and 5 Mac player threads?

Now it's vice versa, about 5 PC threads amongst a million console threads. But for this, there are way too many PC players here being interested in PC related threads.

Even if the amount of console specific (issue-) threads would decrease during the next few weeks, console threads in general will still be there afterwards.
Theoretically, it might be the same game, but it is not the same. I don't want to open tons of threads to read and in the middle of them I notice that I can't even reply since the technical issues (or other things which are different from PC) are not the same.

I imagine it like this: Console player asks "Why does button X not work when I want to talk to NPC Y?" or "How does the chat work exactly?" - I only could say "Oh, uhm, I could have told you how it works on PC, but too bad you're on console, so I don't know". It's a waste of time, if you know what I mean.

But I have a suggestion to make:
If each thread would have [PC] or [Console] infront of the title (which we could choose when posting a new thread), it would be sooo much easier to distinguish which is which.

It isn't always obvious which platform is relevant to a thread and many of the non-tech threads are NOT redundant. Guild recruiting, PvP activity, and UI/game play feedback are just a few platform-specific topics that won't magically fade away after a couple of weeks. Refusing to take the time to separate the two only makes the forums even more cumbersome.

We have separate forums for US and European servers...yet threads are far more redundant between the two as they share the same platform. So, if redundancy is the real concern here, then US and European forums should be combined and the consoles moved out.

Regardless, I feel this horse is already dead...moving on!
