Why is there still no delta patching?

I want a ZOS employee to come in here and answer my question.

Why are we still forced to re-download whole files instead of only patching the pieces that need to be patched? Having to download several gigabytes every time there's a miniscule patch is outrageous and unacceptable.

Good for you. But there are plenty of people, including myself, for whom this is not acceptable. At all.

    Pretty simple: They don't care

The download is already in 30+ DAT file pieces because we are only required to redownload the piece containing the code that was changed. That is delta patching, otherwise we'd have to download 30 GB every update.

    Actually it isn't, at all.

I guess it depends on your interpretation of the definition.
A delta update is an update that only requires the user to download the code that has changed, not the whole program.
I'm interpreting that as "Code packet 23 was changed, so I download code packet 23 and not the others", whereas I guess you are interpreting it as "Line 2746 in code packet 23 was changed, so all that needs to be downloaded is Line 2746".

That would be a very interesting system.. one line of code compiled to around 4 bytes. Download 4 bytes, patch done. Ha.

Pretty sure no game ever distributes the source code to be compiled on the client side, lol.
