Frequent crashing since 1.6 (especially while zoning/fast traveling)

Prior to 1.6 going live, the game was incredibly stable for me (I think it crashed only once or twice since I first played during 5-day early access). Ever since 1.6 the game now crashes almost every time I zone/fast travel, especially in Cyrodiil after when I respawn. Addons enabled or disabled, still happens. It had gotten slightly better around 2.0 going live, but after the most recent patch I'm getting more frequent crashes on almost every loading screen and even randomly during gameplay. Now I'm also getting errors with the launcher after crashing, which I seem to be able to get around if I close the launcher, wait a few moments, then re-open it.

Crashing is so common now that if I am in a group, I will automatically tell everyone I will crash when we zone and I'll be back in a minute. With the zoning issue, the crash happens either (1) right after the loading screen comes up, or (2) after the loading screen has been up a 5-10 seconds, or (3) most commonly, right after I arrive in the new zone. Most of the time when I log back in I am in the zone I was fast traveling to.

If anyone has any input on this I would greatly appreciate it. It's starting to really frustrate me, but at least I have the game loaded onto a SSD so I can usually get back into the game pretty fast.

This is the first time I'm posting in here, because before the most recent patch or two the game has been very stable for me. Since patches 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 however, I have had quite a few game freezes and massive lag spikes.

The lag spikes can have my ping registering in the high hundreds or thousands and I'm running around with my character as normal, but can't interact with anything for a while.

This tends to happen more out in the field, after which there is a loading screen and I've been teleported to a wayshrine.

Sometimes ping shows as normal, but interactions take multiple button presses or extended time to register and my character keeps moving far after I've let up on the movement buttons.

This happens most often in towns as do the freezes which seem to happen mostly when switching UI panels such as in the bank or character information (just a few minutes ago between map and skills).

Next time any of these events happen, I'll make sure to disable addons and see if anything changes.

    Here's hoping this info helps.

Sounds alot like what my SO is experiencing. She's tried playing without any addons (which she doesn't have many to begin with) to no effect. She crashes within minutes inside towns/cities - except Eldenroot for some reason is a bit more stable. Outside in the wilderness/caves/dungeons/etc. she has no issues except very frequently (especially in combat) lag spikes like crazy. But it will be more akin to super high latency even though the ms on the latency indicator doesn't show any spikes. She will run around and click skills to no effect. Her fps are nice and stable despite her slightly weaker machine. And it isn't our connection seeing as I'm not experiencing these spikes when she does. I also checked her firewall and AV settings - nothing is getting blocked any more than on my side.

But she is also running Windows 7 32 and I have 8.1 64.

All of it cropped up after 1.6.

I'm running Windows 7 64 and rarely have crashes with the game anymore. It used to happen almost anytime I tried to port into Rawlha from another zone. Check and see if your Windows Defender is on, if it is and you use another Anti-Virus program like Mcafee or Norton then you can turn it off. If you don't want to turn it off, add in the ESO.exe file as an exception to it for both yourself and public. That seemed to help the responsiveness of my game. It hasn't removed all of the lag I was experiencing but it seemed to lower it a little.
