Main quest broken for new characters if tutorial is skipped.

If you skip the tutorial, you will appear in the house in your starter city, but the Prophet will not appear. You will not get the "Talk to the Prophet" quest which gives you your starter weapon/armor and you will be blocked from the main quest thereafter. I have tested this on 2 characters and even ran a repair of my client to ensure it just wasn't on my end. I now have one character at level 12 and the Prophet has never reappeared and, of course, this means you never get to enter the Harborage.

Do a search on the forums. I recall Gina answering a post about this and am pretty sure its a bug

It's ridiculous that 11 months after release there are still critical quest-blocking bugs being introduced, presumably after ZOS messed with the tutorial instance; 'cos this was not a problem not long ago and as far as I can recall this bug has never existed until now.

I wasn't even aware of it until another player mentioned in chat that she's been waiting over 3 days for ZOS to answer her ticket regarding the same issue. When she mentioned it, it suddenly occured to me I hadn't seen or heard the Prohet at all since I'd been playing and noticed I had no main quest ( I didn't originally notice because I had planned to ignore it anyway while I did guild and side quests ).

So then I made a second character to check and that one also had no interaction with the Prophet when arriving in the house.

Seeing issues like this makes my heart sink. Between all the bugs I am still enjoying this game and hoping for it to survive, but I think time is running out for ZOS.

There is another long thread about this where ZOS has replied. They have replicated the problem but they are still working on the root cause and fix. Doesn't happen to everyone so it's hard to pinpoint the problem. It seems if you have ever done the old tutorial or the new tutorial one time then it doesn't happen to you. If you have never done the tutorial and skip it then the problem happens to the characters. I do know that the Prophet isn't spawning where he should now for the first encounter at level five and this has been reported to ZOS on the other thread. I found him in the Outlaws Refuge. :)

Isn't it impossible to skip the tutorial until you've done it? The message box states that since you've already been through it you can skip it.

Yes sorry about my wording. Tried to correct it and had an emergency to deal with. It seems that those who skip the new tutorial after completing it one time are having the issue vs those that did the old tutorial, pre update 6 like me and skip it.

If you go to the newbie tutorial island and then return to your spawn point in game does he show up?

I've had the prophet disappear on me if I skipped the tutorial before the current patch and he would show up after I did that.

Reading the other thread though, it sounds like it really is broken this time. You'll probably have to either wait for a fix (which is hopefully after maintenance today if lucky) or remake your character and run him through the prison.

As a side note, the tutorial prison revamp is awesome so if you haven't run through it yet, I highly recommend you do.

Yeah, I tried pretty much everything. And I had already run through the new tut before this character was made. Also, I preferred the old tutorial. Never been a fan of "streamlining", especially when the option to skip is there for those who don't feel like running it at times. Anyway, guess I just have a new bank toon now.

its just like launch a year ago lol, the release of tamriel unlimited should not have been set in stone, you clearly need another month at least to clear out the bugs and 2 months for class balance.

This is very painful to see.
I hope this bug gets the much deserved priority #1 slot for an immediate fix.

    To put this into perspective:
Affected players would be prevented from accessing the best storyline in the game, and on the extreme end, they would be directly prevented from advancing beyond their own faction's content.
No Cad's Silver, Gold, or access to Craglorn, since the wagons only appear in Silver + content.

Hope to see a fix soon,

Don't forget that you don't get soul magic, either! So it also breaks the enchanting system in a pretty major way.

Oh yes, a bug that doesn't really impact that many people should be number one priority... You know, instead of the real problems.

It's going to effect a lot of people when ye old floodgates open tomorrow. And yes, I'd consider the breaking of the main quest as well as a core game mechanic ( souls ) a number one priority to fix when you're going to have a bunch of returning players rolling new characters.

Except every character I've created recently hasn't encountered any problems. And anyone who starts tomorrow won't be skipping the tutorial anyway, since they HAVE to play it once. Your argument is invalid.

Returning players can skip the tutorial because they already did the tut before 1.6. Perhaps reading my argument before claiming it invalid would help. Also, "it didn't do it to me" is not an argument in this case any more than it is when you get people proclaiming there's no lag in the servers because they didn't get any. You are not representative of all. Furthermore the problem has been confirmed as a problem by a ZOS representative, so I'd say an argument that it IS a problem needing fixed asap is more valid that your opinion that it is not.

ZoS should just remove the option to skip the Tutorial until the bug is fixed going to be a problem if returning players dont know about it an the miss out the best quest in the game

would creating a permanent NPC location outside of harborage for the Prophet work?

However, i guess not completing the quest after the tutorial could still be an issued, unless no matter what the the newly created location for the prophet completes it after speaking to him.

I'm lvl 19 an yet to see the prophet at all. This is my second character, so being new didn't expect to see the prophet after skipping the tutorial...

It certainly wasn't possible a month ago when I helped a friend setting up the game, his first character got put into the into instance without any option; and nothing ZOS have said about 2.0's re-worked tutorial implied they'd changed this, though TBH I wouldn't put it past them to have done so to appease those who cried that the beta version of Coldharbour was too long and stopped them getting to the 'real' game NOW! and so ZOS nerfed it as well as not forcing new characters to appear on the start island.

I also have this issue. I am currently playing on PS4 but my main quest is stuck. after being teleported to the house I talked with the prophet. I didn't realize it until later but it never continued my quest line. It still showed that I needed to talk to the prophet but when I went back to the house it was locked. I picked the lock and he wasn't there. I can't continue the main quest line unless I talk to the prophet who seems to be missing. Any thoughts? I'm running as an Imperial.
