Price for new DLC

I have no problem with the 2500 crowns for the DLC.

The problem is i have to buy 3 000 crowns just to pay 2500 crowns to buy the damn thing. So here i was ready to buy it with $25 cash card stored. But now that snot enough due to taxes. So now i have to go buy another stupid cash card just to get $3 bucks worth just to get 3000 crowns to spend 2500 crowns with 500 left over.

It costs 2500 crowns.... And i have to buy 3000 crowns. That means im already paying waaay more then i should, even before taxes.

It is the game's fault they don't sell crown in increments that match the DLC. It's done on purpose to force buying more crowns and it's painfully obvious

You really do have to wonder if some of the people who defend ZoS at any cost actually read half the stuff they're responding to.

We get many a ZoS child will starve to death if those poor devs at ZoS don't charge us through the nose for almost everything, but it doesn't mean that some things aren't underhanded. Even MS saw the light when it came to making people buy more than they needed to if they wished to make any sort of purchase. Before people use [insert random game name here] as an example, we're talking about ESO, not [insert random game name here].

Well... yes you're right, you gotta pay 5 bucks more than you need (the card is moot imo cuz you can just use ur debit card etc.)

The trick is an old marketing ploy, wut u can do is save up such odds and use that to purchase dlc down the road. When I started I got 500 free crown, when i get dlc ill have another 500 "extra" ill just save em until something i just gotta have shows up. Probably just end up gettin a "discounted" dlc down the road

The dlc was supposed to be $20, even with taxes i would have had enough. Its the 3000 crowns and taxes that pushed me over the limit.

I agree. I strongly dislike every service which uses virtual currency for this reason. I had leftover Bioware points hanging on my account for years... They're probably still there. I wouldn't know, I stopped buying their games long ago.

Anyhow, I'd like to have an option to buy precisely the number of crowns required for the DLC and not one more.

Crowns are a general resource used for more than purchasing DLC. It is true that they could have priced the DLC at 3000 Crowns to better conform with the 750/1500/3000/5500 units that Crowns are sold in, but things are not generally priced that way in the store.

I think you still get 500 Crowns with the purchase of the game, an additional 3000 Crowns gets you the DLC plus any of the other things in the Crown store for exactly 1000 Crowns. If you have not already spent that extra 1000 Crowns, buy a bag space upgrade, riding lessons, or the draugr polymorph or something.

I am talking about when the game was a proper sub based only game with some implied standards. People did not want that. They wanted a nickel and dime + charity sub derp model. Enjoy.

The OP even comes out and says this is a due to taxes.

No he didn't, the issue was because he has to buy 500 more crowns than needed, the mention about taxes was simply an aside explaining why the card he purchased didn't cover the extra to get the next pack size up and he had to go get another one, it wasn't actually related to the reason, he would have been better off just not mentioning it to avoid confusion.

Basically if they had sold a 2500 crown pack then it would have cost him $20 plus taxes (calculating by how much the packs are, divided by how many crowns you get, then multiplying by 2500 etc), in which case the $25 dollar card would have covered it, however because he has to buy a 3000 crown pack he now has to pay $25 plus taxes, which means his card won't cover it.

see but that's assuming they sold 2500 crowns. but when you see the 3000 crowns you would easily see its gna be $25 with some spare crowns. knowing that going in shouldn't complain that 25 won't cover the crowns needed for the increments provided to us

But a few months ago you were supporting ESO's subscriptions?

Why would it be different if I wanted to pay for ESO+ now to help with crafting speed?
I also was paying for the ESO+ to have the crowns on hand to cancel after buying IC...

I had supported a sub only system because I was buying something concrete not a system where I pay because I feel charitable and I want to support the game.I am a consumer not a sponsor and I will only pay for concrete stuff like DLC and occasional crowns.

People did not want that simple system. Now they get the [snip] that the OP talks about. I agree it is [snip] but is very much expected [snip]. It is however very mild [snip] compared to the [snip] in other games like SWTOR for example, another game where my sub ended the day it went f2p.

I also found it funny how this was their first DLC, as if it was some sort of expansion. The first thing World of Warcraft EVER put out that you had to pay for was the best expansion the game had ever seen. This was hardly an expansion.

You're paying $25 for 2500 crowns and getting 500 basically for free.
Same as paying $40 for 4000 crowns and getting 1500 free.

You're paying in USD so I suspect VAT isn't the issue here. I would have agreed that VAT is a pain in the ***.
Crowns are not taxed. You're paying $39.99 for 5500 crowns.

The issue is probably that your card has fees so your $25 is more like $22.

Wow what a failure of math.

    1500 crowns, $15 = $1 per 100 crowns
    2500 crowns, $25 = $1 per 100 crowns -- ah, but you get another 500. Enjoy the extra 500.
