The gold sellers are pretty ballsy and clearly fear no repercussions. I would really like to know how we can report these private messages we receive on the forums?

There isn't a report option from PMs that I can see... this is surely going to morph into a bigger problem (as the bots have continued to do). How can we fight this?

Even worse, the bot was supposedly invited by a forum ADMIN! O_o (according to the profile of the spammer and "invited by" section)

    If you see it in your email, it is actually a copy of the message from the forum

    Received a gold advertising PM (or better a conversation with some other unlucky A's-account in it) too from this profile

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/profile/activity/4798173/jshdjshdjsa

    strange thing in this profile is in the ABOUT section this entry: Invited by
    ZOS_AmeliaR - don't know what it means.

    Edit: just saw it in the first post, his spammer seems also to have been invited by a forum ADMIN :open_mouth:

    I received a PM from this gold spammer, which sent a copy to my personal email address, and it unnerved my quite a bit. There's no way to report the gold spammers from this forum. This needs to be addressed ASAP.

    @AeliaVicusPlave‌ that's exactly how the bot who sent me the PM got here: invited by <Admin Name>.

    I added the admin who invited them to the forum to the conversation. Maybe that will do something.. /hope

    User fgfdgdgfr is goldseller. Please nuke.

    Here's another thing that is ticking me off right now - I'm viewing this scumbag's profile and there is no option that I can see to BLOCK this user. I know that's probably pointless since it should be banned regardless but this is ridiculous, the forums must have a way to block other users and flag private messages. I thought things like that were universal.

    Was it a direct email or a forward? I got an email too, but at the bottom it said it was from the forum, it just forwarded a copy to me. It is annoying enough to get in game mail from the spammers, if it picks up on here there is a big problem. Granted, not really the developers fault, we all knew they were annoying already. But, there needs to be a way to track them to help get their profiles banned/blocked/deleted. (It's more a deterrent it seems but it is better than nothing... or a pile of spam.)

    They come as a forwarded e-mail of your forum messages.

    It is set as standard to give you an e-mail notification in your preferences and you will have to actively go in and change it to not get them

    LOL, what a stupid question. the moment something a bit odd or unusual happens up come the 'hacked?' posts.

    Gold sellers have active accounts, as such they're entitled to post here like you or me as far as the automated systems are concerned, hence they can spam.

    I just got 3 from different spammers in 5 minutes and it freaked me out. They weren't forwarded at all and I've never posted on here at all, so it really pisses me off. Not only do I have to shut down the chat box as soon as I log in (it pops back up by itself in 5 mins anyway) but I have to delete about 3 spam emails as soon as I log in every day and now my personal emails too? WTF?

    Hi all,

    I saw this thread and started to take some screenies for evidence then returned to see the message in red and white;

    It's good to see action is being taken.

    for further info, here is the (commented) in forum message I got;

    Removed as point was made and complaint recieved - image available to admins on request.

    And the email I got that made me look at forum notification;

    Removed as point was made and complaint recieved - image available to admins on request.

    I would not normally name names so to say but this is a clear gold spam and I saw no way to report it in the notification / mail area of my account.

    One way to stop getting the messages in your email is to disable the notification in forum account profile settings. This is undesiarable though. So! As mentioned already; thanks for looking into this.

    Erm, just as a heads-up, this forum notifies you whenever you get a PM. So no, no hack here. They've just moved to spamming a different channel.

    Just to confirm, these e-mails are automated notifications to let you know you've received a private message on the forums. These notifications come from community@elderscrollsonline.com. As noted in the banner message, we've disabled PMs to help combat the spam and will continue to provide updates as soon as we have them.

    Yep! But then we would not get genuine notifications to our email - that is; notifications we would like to get.

    'You really need to remove the gold seller address and link form your post.'

    I would normally agree 100% with this but there is no apparent way to report these gold spammers other than via a thread. A 'report mail' option while reading such mail would be better than putting our accounts at risk by 'naming and shaming' or showing links.

    Thanks for your quick reaction ZOS.

    Hopefully they havent found away around your invite system, but I would advise restraining from such info in the future as "the mob" gets pretty crazy with incomplete information. A summary after the fact would be best.

    Thanks again ZOS! Good communication, much improved, most wow :P

    I am not contributing to the problem. The images show(ed) a definate gold spammer and the link has a message 'DO NOT GO HERE' and cannot be clicked or copied (text).

    You can 'rag' on me all you like! I am not a gold seller and I do not see why I should be blamed for those who are. Niether do I see why those gold spammers should be protected.

    Instead of attacking me and thus (in a round about way) defending the gold spammers by telling me to remove the images - try persuading the admins to give us a 'report mail' button.

    Now! That's how I feel about it.

    Because I am a reasonable person though and the point has been made and I see that I could be accused of being an enabler - I'll go edit the post.

    EDIT: Original post edited. Tidied up this one a bit.

    PS: ZOS_LenaicR wrote in another post: Could you please post the sender's username as a comment in our official thread?
