I have received a gold spam email to my personal account. I have checked my forum preferences and it is NOT checked to show my email, so how did this spammer get my email? This is very upsetting.

Tarwin✭✭✭Have you ever played any other MMO's? Could be a residual from any other gaming forum or game. I get them for lots of games I have never played. It is probably just a shot in the dark spam0 -

Or I'm almost certain of that anyway because I said "WTF" too when I first saw it in my email and then noticed it was a PM here

I guess if gold spammers were smart they could also randomize account name from the game and add @gmail.com, yahoo.com etc. I wouldn't be surprised if Account names are the the first part of the email address for many people, which is yet another reason why I hate using account names for player reference (thanks battle net?!). We won't go into the lack of immersion because of this (for another badly beaten to death topic)0 -

If you guys would post in the thread I linked that will keep it stuck up top and hopefully they can do something about it because they pretty much got free-range in the forum with no report/block option from PMs. (that I have seen)1

Aithny✭I got one as well. Very, very annoying. Actually i got 2 of them including the copy to my personal email.
I hope Zos will do something about that. It's bad enough we get pestered in game. I am not really waiting for more pestering in RL.

ZOS_AmeliaR✭✭✭✭✭We're looking into this now. Thanks for reporting this. On a side note, we can confirm that these accounts were not manually invited by any specific forum administrator or moderator. Currently, all forum accounts are created through our invitation system.1 -

I predict my anti-spam will catch it and if it doesnt, Ill report it as spam and let the automatic detection system figure it out.

Not true. My email has nothing to do with my forum name.
The gold spammers did not get anyone's email addresses...they are simply spamming private messages on the forum and people are getting emails because of their notification settings.
