3 days early access...a joke

I would really not have liked my first post in this Forum to be a "negative" one, but sadly it seems it needs to.

To put it simply, you have screwed over most of your European playerbase, repeatedly, and with little warning. Since this is also supposed to be an "adult" game and not exactly Hello Kitty Online, I would have assumed your planning also took into consideration that, perhaps, "adult" people might also have (daytime) jobs. Meaning that they would like to use some time during their precious evenings to actually enjoy what they PAID for.

Yes, it so happens that evenings are "prime time" across Europe. I would also assume that quite a large chunk of your playerbase does indeed reside in Europe. It is a bit hard to understand why you should choose these particular times for downtime, for the EU megaserver.

In any case, so far the experience in the world of Tamriel has been awesome, at least during the time I had the privilege to be online. So, I hope and wish this very important matter of downtimes and maintenance (at least scheduled ones) will be looked into and better organised.

I think everyone has high expectations for ESO and wishes for a good service in return of their subscriptions. I would hate to see it plagued by stupid decisions or bad service, which usually leads to the demise of MMOs and them turning to F2P (which usually, also tends to suck).

Can we get a few more tears please? I'm a bit parched. The Euro flavor is my favorite btw. There is no conspiracy and there is no reason for all this crying. This is launch, these things happen get over yourself the amount of entitlement on these forums currently is astounting. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

I didn't even get an email telling me that early access had started, so now I don't even get to play the early access I paid all that extra money for. It's been things like this along with several other head ache inducing situations that's making it very hard for me to like this game right now. Time spent online is wonderful, but those moments are few and far between... You can call me crazy, but for some reason I don't feel like I should have to try this hard to like a game I paid $80 for. Hopefully they'll have a better handle on this by the end of the month, but as it stands now I already plan on not renewing my subscription after the first month. This is painful to say considering how much I like Elder Scrolls and how I've been trumpeting the game in recent months, but I'm definitely not getting anywhere close to my moneys worth so far. Like I said it pains me to say it, but right now it's true. It's not entitlement to want your money's worth.

We understand your frustration. Please be aware that all Early Access customers will be granted an extended grace period until Sunday at 8 a.m. EDT before they are required to transition their account to live. This will cover online retail customers who didn't get their boxes shipped in time and also give digital customers more Early Access time.

I completely agree that three day folks got their chains yanked pretty hard.

Anyone who says "your time hasn't started yet" is being ridiculous. The price of the game included the headstart and the first month of sub.

The code is clearly being written during server downtime rather than before hand. Why is inexpiable as there is no reason they could not fix problems, update and test on a PTS, and then do a 10min reset on the servers to update the code.

Nobody would complain a hair if the servers went down to fix major and minor bugs a couple of times for 10 minutes but these all day outages are killing the headstart.

As the longevity of the game largely depends on the positive word of mouth from folks doing things like head-start, why so many hours of uptime were wasted seems highly foolish.

This is a very fun game so far and I am loving every minute of the time I am playing. Really, I am shocked at how good it is from the terrible press I read but the customer is entitled to what they paid for and right now it seems they have been treated with a fair amount of neglect.

Fix it by giving everyone two free days of time and anyone who complains was going to quit anyway. Everyone else will tell all their friends what a great game it is with great accountable customer service.

Will our guilds be transfered to the Live server? Or will be be forced to fight for our names again when we go "live?" on Sunday? Also will we need to fight gfor guild names?

    Like how does this work?

13 hour maintenance on my first day of 3 day access then about 6 hours of actual playing time, get home today to find what? more down time. i don't no how you people can defend these actions, we were promised a service and we weren't adequately provided with it. because you define "early access" differently then the rest doesn't excuse them from providing what they said they would. 3 days of early access shouldn't require you to play through the night in order to utilize it, with that said the game is awesome i would have purchased it without any early access but if you say your going to do something then do it properly or don't do it at all. i already feel like you're building your tower on a base of lies.

I just want to clarify that I'm interpreting right, does this mean the billing period for the Pre-Order Customers will not begin until the 6th instead of the 4th like it would have been?

Because that would be pretty magical. (Magicka-l.)

    Edit: Date mis-type.

@ZOS_AmeliaR‌, does this mean we shouldn't enter our full game codes until then or will the 30 days start from Sunday at 8AM regardless? The reason I'm asking is becuase I don't know which code is for the explorer's pack and which is for the game, but I can just wait on both, another few days won't make much difference.

    Thanks!

That is my EXACT question. I don't know which code is which and I'd rather wait to put either in if the billing date starts the day I put the code in rather than the new special date.

It amuses me seeing all the people complaining about "paying" for early access. You payed for the game on live not anything else ZOS just happened give you "preorder" gifts such as early access as thank for buying the game early.

You spent absolutely no extra money and yet you whine about it ALL day.. Be grateful they extended your early access until Sunday and be grateful they even gave early access as a option.

That's correct. The 30 days begins when you select your subscription plan, which Early Access customers will not need to do until Sunday. Hope this helps clarify!

EDIT: Also, once we're live, the pop-up on the launcher will tell you that you need to select a subscription before playing, but please know that Early Access players are exempt (until Sunday, that is).

Everything that took place during Early Access rolls right up into the live game. Any characters and guilds you created (as well as anything else that happened during Early Access) will be intact when the servers come online for launch.

Wait, does this mean that we need to have a payment option setup and funds on that payment option avail on Sunday? Cause I will be using Paypal for my ESO sub and will not have funds on it till a week or so before my 1st month (that comes with the box) is up.

PayPal supports both recurring and up front methods. As long as you select the recurring method, your account won't be charged until the 30 days of included game time are complete.

for better understanding, if we select subscription plan before sunday 8am, we'll lose some "early access free time" or, the plan will start working only after 8 am sunday, whenever we chose it ?

If you were eligible for Early Access, you are eligible for the grace period extension. If you wish, you may immediately select your preferred subscription plan and payment method. Once this is done, your included 30 days of game time commences immediately.

Any remaining Early Access time will be ended and thus superseded by the commencement of your included 30 days of game time.

Wait, what happens if we don't choose a subscription plan? I'm here for my 30 days and then I'm out until the F2P starts, I have no intention of paying any monthly fees. Are you telling us that we won't even get our 30 days without signing up for some subscription model?

Basically, people without early access have to select their subscription plan immediately. Early access users don't have to select it until Sunday morning.
But since the initial payment was also supposed to cover the first 30 days, this should mean that we won't be billed until 30 days after we select the plan, correct?

This is common practice with MMO's. You won;t be charged until your 30 days are up. You can immediately cancel if you like. If you don't have a credit card you are going to be out of luck.
