I have the same issue. However game repair didnt help. It finished with OK as well as game consultant.

Workarround: Start your game over eso.exe in ..\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online EU\game\client\

    Works.

    209 error

Well done ZOS, yet again you break more than you fix on the EU server!!!

Yeah, I'm getting the 209 error too.. Will try the eso.exe..

EDIT: I followed the steps from here, had to repair 2 or 3 times but it works now.

Before apply what correctly suggested by Wolfess, there is another easier option: from Launcher just click "Play" after the update or close the Launcher and use directly the .exe.
It starts normally even if you get the error on Launcher after the update.

But for this, a fix on Launcher for EU server with English set as language should be applied because the Game Consultant is in German.

I too got this error when patching....

I closed the Launcher and re-opened it, the play button came up and the game loaded fine :)

I am getting this error every time I open the launcher, however closing and re-opening it does seem to solve the problem...... very odd. :)

I also get 209 error and when I start the game using the launcher I can play a while and then it randomly disconnects. I was able to play using eso.exe as Shadow27 suggested.

But is there way to fix the launcher? I opened ports and did repair like 5 times but the error still comes up. Sometimes after disconnect from the game.

Running the launcher as administrator seems to fix the issue for me every time. I too just got the error, closed launcher, run as administrator. No error.

The patch manifest error 209 can be safely ignored on a fully patched client. Closing and reopening the Laucher will bring back the "Play" button. This is most likely an issue with version references on the CDN, which are incorrect or can't be pulled. Since this is tried periodically, the error message will pop up again after a while.

Same here, cannot recognize version, repair doesn't help. I mean, what the hell, we had this dance a week ago...

Hey, all. @KhajitFurTrader‌ is correct: if your client patched fully and you see error 209, just dismiss the error message and you should be able to click play and get to adventuring.

That said, if you're seeing error 209 in the middle of your download and your game does not resume downloading within a few minutes after you dismiss the error, it may help to close and reopen the launcher.

If you're still getting held up by error 209, please try first running ESO as administrator, then adding eso.exe, the launcher, and account.elderscrollsonline.com as exceptions to your firewall/anti-virus software.

Finally, if you still can't get error 209 to budge, go ahead and follow the troubleshooting steps listed in this knowledge base article: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6486

The "209 error prompting a needless repair" bug (needless because repairing does no good, whereas closing and re-opening the launcher brings up the "play" prompt and the game then runs normally) seemed to have been fixed in recent days, but has returned for me again after today's patch.
